Dave when reviewing a windows ultrabook didn't even mention a macbook once and instead compared it to other windows machines, other reviewers please take note.

Josh actually, he should compare it to other thin and light laptops, regardless of whether it's running Windows or Mac OS. They are all products available to the masses and it helps to compare the review product to its competition.

I'm writing this comment on a 710S and it is a great laptop! Thank you for this review! For the price I paid, nothing can really beat that.
A personal review:
The screen looks very good and is bright enough. It is not very well calibrated at first, so keep that in mind.The keyboard feels very nice and it's just as good as the one on a Macbook air. The button placement is a bit weird but it's very acceptable and I got used to it fairly quickly. The backlit keyboard isn't the brightest but it does the job very well.
The form factor? THIS THING IS AMAZING! It's super light and easy to carry around and it feels quite solid. No fingerprint anywhere so far, that's nice. No scratch either so far. The trackpad isn't as slippery as i'd like it to be but it's more than acceptable It's spacious and responsive and I've been able to tweak the gestures to fit my needs with the registry. It's running very smooth and it's pretty fast for everyday usage. I solved the lack of media key (which I found annoying) with a program called auto hotkey. The speakers are very enjoyable for a laptop this size, but I prefer to use an external speaker (Bluetooth works fine on this machine). The battery last for more time than I need it too. The 180 degrees hinge is a plus and I found myself using more than I thought I would.
I am a student and I have been carrying this laptop everywhere for 3 weeks now.
For info, I paid this thing 879$ CAD and the XPS 13 is about 1250$ CAD for the same specs.
I feel like this laptop is underrated. It's not perfect, but I like it, especially for that kind of price.
Almost forgot to mention, the bezel on this makes the macbook look like an old piece of tech. :)

Hey, I havn't cheked the availability of the laptop recently. The trackpad is still amazing though. Of course, it's clearly not as good as a macbook trackpad, but it's almost as good as it can get for a windows laptop :)
There's an option I recommend you deactivate (mouse acceleration) which renders the mouse mouvement simply annoying in daily use. I'm in canada too. Try the IBMEFriend (an official lenovo website), you'll get huge savings if you get it from there ;) If you don't care not being able to install linux and not having extreme customizability, I still recommend to get this laptop.
Oh and get a case. even a thin on is better than nothing because this laptop is a bit more fragile than for exemple a macbook. Not a proble if you treat it well though! tell me if there's anything else!

Yeah me too though. But it's only minor scraches on weaker parts. The magnesium lid seems resistant. Just treat it well!

Dave I think I've watched this video like 5 times. Based on your review and weighing cost/performance I did order the i7 variant of this Ultrabook. I mainly wanted the Iris Pro 540 for light gaming as it's nearly twice as fast as the 520. To buy it I sold my seldom used 17" gaming laptop, 8" windows tablet and a cheap "thin and light" (100S), all Lenovo. I ultimately went with Lenovo because I like the brand and I think you get a LOT of Ultrabook for the money. One Laptop to rule them all! I think the XPS 13 looks a lot nicer and has UBS-C but went for value. Oh I found the i7 model with 256GB SSD on Amazon for $917 USD with free shipping. Not a bad deal. To get that on the XPS 13 I would have had to pay a lot more. Thanks for this and all your other very high quality reviews/videos.

We just got this in at my local Best Buy and it immediately caught my eye. I said to myself: "Wow! This is like the XPS!" It's very nice to look at in person. As you mention in the video, its thin bezels are reminiscent of the Infinity Display.

Just got the ideapad 710s plus. Really love it, and judging from trying to flex the chassis/screen like you were, it seems the build quality is improved and it's a bit stiffer

Nice review. I'd made my mind up to get this already but was nice to watch to get a better idea what I was getting. Picked it up yesterday. I like the screen, the thinness and portability, the speed and the sound/volume, as you say, is way better than you would expect, but the mousepad is driving me mad as is the right shift key. I'm hoping I get used to it - fast!

Great video. Great laptop. Please make a comparison video between 710s and yoga 900. Both are quite similar except a few changes. But that also impacts on the price. I am more inclined to buy the highest end variety of the 710s (16gb ram, 500gb SSD), although I am bit concerned about only 2 USB 3.0 ports and I just hate any bezel colour other than black around the screen. But the same configuration of Yoga 900 costs 200 USD more and what's the benefit of a 13 inch touchscreen if it doesn't support active pen, right? Plus display of 710s is better than 900 for photo editing purpose. So it would be great if you guide us on which one is more bang for the buck, Thank you.

I can accept the argument that all these different laptops are being reviewed separately, but changes happening so very often, it is difficult to keep track of what is still worth considering and what has gone obsolete.
Like for this laptop, I would have loved to see how it fairs against ASUS UX330UA. On top of my head I can deduce that this has a mediocre SSD compared to Asus, but has a better touchpad. How about other stuffs.
