Josh actually, he should compare it to other thin and light laptops, regardless of whether it's running Windows or Mac OS. They are all products available to the masses and it helps to compare the review product to its competition.
I'm writing this comment on a 710S and it is a great laptop! Thank you for this review! For the price I paid, nothing can really beat that. A personal review: The screen looks very good and is bright enough. It is not very well calibrated at first, so keep that in mind.The keyboard feels very nice and it's just as good as the one on a Macbook air. The button placement is a bit weird but it's very acceptable and I got used to it fairly quickly. The backlit keyboard isn't the brightest but it does the job very well. The form factor? THIS THING IS AMAZING! It's super light and easy to carry around and it feels quite solid. No fingerprint anywhere so far, that's nice. No scratch either so far. The trackpad isn't as slippery as i'd like it to be but it's more than acceptable It's spacious and responsive and I've been able to tweak the gestures to fit my needs with the registry. It's running very smooth and it's pretty fast for everyday usage. I solved the lack of media key (which I found annoying) with a program called auto hotkey. The speakers are very enjoyable for a laptop this size, but I prefer to use an external speaker (Bluetooth works fine on this machine). The battery last for more time than I need it too. The 180 degrees hinge is a plus and I found myself using more than I thought I would. I am a student and I have been carrying this laptop everywhere for 3 weeks now. For info, I paid this thing 879$ CAD and the XPS 13 is about 1250$ CAD for the same specs. I feel like this laptop is underrated. It's not perfect, but I like it, especially for that kind of price. Almost forgot to mention, the bezel on this makes the macbook look like an old piece of tech. :) If you have any question, just ask me!
Hey, I havn't cheked the availability of the laptop recently. The trackpad is still amazing though. Of course, it's clearly not as good as a macbook trackpad, but it's almost as good as it can get for a windows laptop :) There's an option I recommend you deactivate (mouse acceleration) which renders the mouse mouvement simply annoying in daily use. I'm in canada too. Try the IBMEFriend (an official lenovo website), you'll get huge savings if you get it from there ;) If you don't care not being able to install linux and not having extreme customizability, I still recommend to get this laptop. Oh and get a case. even a thin on is better than nothing because this laptop is a bit more fragile than for exemple a macbook. Not a proble if you treat it well though! tell me if there's anything else! I paid mine around 1000 with tax in canada.

Just got the ideapad 710s plus. Really love it, and judging from trying to flex the chassis/screen like you were, it seems the build quality is improved and it's a bit stiffer

We just got this in at my local Best Buy and it immediately caught my eye. I said to myself: "Wow! This is like the XPS!" It's very nice to look at in person. As you mention in the video, its thin bezels are reminiscent of the Infinity Display.

This review helped me decide on the similar 14" 510s. 7500u 1080p IPS 256 SSD 8 GB DDR4 Radeon M360 All under $550. Nice build quality for the price too. Hard to ignore the value with these ideapads.

You're by far my favorite reviewer, but in recent videos it seems like you're rushing to get through all the details! there's no problem with the pace being a little slower, it lets the viewer absorb everything you're saying a little better.
Only criticism I have for you videos is that you REALLY should look into the lens of the camera, and not below it. I don't know if you're looking at a monitor or the script, but it's very noticeable.
Nice review. I'd made my mind up to get this already but was nice to watch to get a better idea what I was getting. Picked it up yesterday. I like the screen, the thinness and portability, the speed and the sound/volume, as you say, is way better than you would expect, but the mousepad is driving me mad as is the right shift key. I'm hoping I get used to it - fast!
Light and reasonable price. There is no reason not to buy this laptop for whom to want laptop under budget $1000. But, As a user I think, 710s is not solid enough. It easily gets scratched and dimpled outside. On the inside, I have seen the keyboard structure when I got fixed on my laptop keyboard, and every key's support part is literally 'nano inch'. It's even hardly seen by bare eyes. If you pull out the button to clean up the key board or something, it will be just broken up.
I just bought the Ideapad and I think it's nice. I used a macbook air before which I sold. Nonetheless the fans of the Ideapad especially the right one with a higher sound are way more noisy than the ones of my Macbook Air which I even considered as loud. Also the touchpad is very loud if you click and also too rough for smooth dragging, just like Dave said. The keyboard is very nice though. Still too many cons for me. I am gonna return it...
Great video. Great laptop. Please make a comparison video between 710s and yoga 900. Both are quite similar except a few changes. But that also impacts on the price. I am more inclined to buy the highest end variety of the 710s (16gb ram, 500gb SSD), although I am bit concerned about only 2 USB 3.0 ports and I just hate any bezel colour other than black around the screen. But the same configuration of Yoga 900 costs 200 USD more and what's the benefit of a 13 inch touchscreen if it doesn't support active pen, right? Plus display of 710s is better than 900 for photo editing purpose. So it would be great if you guide us on which one is more bang for the buck, Thank you.

Yeah me too though. But it's only minor scraches on weaker parts. The magnesium lid seems resistant. Just treat it well!

Ive noticed that Dave's talking is very comfortable to accept but It's so hard for me to talk exactly the same as him
I just bought the Ideapad and I think it's nice. I used a macbook air before which I sold. Nonetheless the fans of the Ideapad especially the right one with a higher sound are way more noisy than the ones of my Macbook Air which I even considered as loud.

Just a heads up; that isn't a system restore switch! It's a Novo Button, and is used to access the BIOS and boot menu in Lenovos.
