The fact is that Judaism modernized during the "Jewish Enlightenment", but Muslims squandered their own reformation when they destroyed Mutazila.

I wasn't making a disrespectful remark. I was stating a fact, and to note that birth rates In Christianity,Judaism, and hindi are very low in comparison to the Muslim world (except turkey). Conversions would be a very small variable in that. And using social media for information shows me your lack of understanding.

It's sad that in a panel full of scholars and politicians, it's a comedian who is right and tells the truth without propaganda.

yousseff is the only realist in a panel that seems to be blind to the dangers of religion in public life as long as it suits them

Why does she always stop them when it gets to the real important and interesting heart of the matter. Because thats where the dispute, where the dynamite lies, but it does need to be opened and adressed, and by mitigating and shifting away the solution is not found.
this could have gone on for at least another hour and i dont think anybody from the audience would have been bored.

That's a shame! The host kept interrupting Bassem Youssef and not giving him equal opportunity to talk, and he was the only person asking the right question! Not only people can have different religions, but also they can have different interpretations of the same religion. Who decides which religion/interpretation should be in the law? What if part of the society doesn't want to follow that religion/interpretation?

Mr. Basam you are totally wrong about Islam I think you should not even speak about Islam because Allah says Islam is your religion and speak about Islam to everyone and tell truth because this religion is not only for muslims is for everyone so we should follow what Allah says not people like trying to make decisions about my beautiful religion

Conservatism increases in proportion to religious devoutness; therefore, liberalism decreases religious devoutness. If you’re advocating more liberalism in religion to ensure a better society, you’re advocating less religious devoutness, right? Doesn’t that position infer the world would be a better place w/o organized religion or more generally speaking, a better place if we stop teaching children that some things, like religion and nationalism, for example, should be immune to critical thought?

thank you for sharing this video. It was astonishing to see mustafa akyol, whose political and intellectual integrity is questionable in regard to his previous support for authoritarian policies of erdoğan in the name of liberalism and democracy in turkey, has still something to say to the american people.
