This is kind of like the return of the Matrix. I'm glad that Toyota has kept the manual transmission. A Toyota/Aisin manual might be the best transmission you can get.
This is a Matrix built to 7/8 scale. When parked beside a Matrix it is clear to see the roof of this Corolla hatch is about 6 inches lower.
Finally a Corolla Hatchback! Corolla's are meant to always have a hatchback variant...the years they did not offer one always felt like something was missing with the Corolla family. I just wonder how the Corolla crossover (station wagon) goes with consumers.
This same model has been available since 2019. It’s just not as popular as the regular Corolla, but I see them at the dealership from time to time.

10 months ago I purchased a 2022 SE sedan for my wife. We both love it, but it's HER car! I don't drive it much. I've been driving a 22 year old rust bucket Chevy truck for a good ten years, and it's running on borrowed time. We decided to buy another Corolla! I'm expecting my 2022 Corolla SE hatch to be ready for delivery any day now! 2.0l 4-banger/CVT, Windchill pearl with black interior. Oh what a feeling! 😁

@@toyotausa Took delivery of it a couple of weeks ago from a local dealer who wasn't charging over MSRP. It's a fine machine. I am very happy with it.

Need hybrid trim to match the Lexus CT200h I have. It would also be nice to have a little more cargo space for larger objects and plug-in hybrid capability.

My fiancée and I bought two Toyotas in May. Hers a 21 Hatch w/ a CVT and mine is the Apex 6MT SE. I'm amazed at how nice hers is at the price she bought it for. Quality vehicles!

you know toyota, I tried to buy one of these in the XSE trim with literally every option possible and you said that you wouldn't make it. Quite the shame really, I was really hoping that I could get my hands on one.

I want one for a small family car but the back seat is so small. The matrix back seat was way more spacious. Have you seen anyone trying to put a child seat in the back…? Tight fit.

It's a trade-off. That is quite a lot of extra cargo space
I would like it if I could change the extra cargo space into a dual shelf space where I could put lesser used items into the hidden space such as a small toolkit, emergency flares, safety equipment and a first aid kit, then use the upper space for regular items.
I would rather have the spare tire than the space.

There isn't really a big difference, I believe the only new thing is the option for more storage space
Offer the hybrid in hatchback form and I'd buy one.
Please just bring the 2.0L hybrid Corolla Hatchback to the United States and if you could offer it with e-AWD, that would be even better.
So not much has changed from the ‘19. I have an XSE with 6spd manual and the larger spoiler which looks so much nicer than the standard one. I absolutely love everything about my car. Nearing my lease end and thinking about buying it if I cant find an identical ‘22 model…

I had two corolla's, 1981 and 1986. I think you need to bring younger people to corolla, and always keep the manual. Should not have built your sport car with Subaru and BMW. It should have been built on your own in your own factory. The YaRis GR is making heads spin. Hope the GR corolla is amazing, just like it was in 1986. Keep your heritage car to yourself, subaru didnt need another sports car. Show us you can build sport cars on your own like you did the lexus LFA.

@@toyotausa Yeah I click that link then select Build and it takes me to two choices, SE or SE nightshade edition, no XSE. I spoke with a dealer in Orlando who said they don't expect any hatchbacks until 2023 anyway. I just bought a used one from Carmax, thanks though.

The fact that the hatchback isn't available with a hybrid engine is the ONLY reason why I haven't bought one yet. It's available in Europe so why is it not in USA and Canada? What are you waiting for Toyota?

it rides fine, not super bumpy at all. noise isnt too loud, highway is fairly quiet.
