Anyways you can check it out here if you want. I hope this video description finds you well and I hope you are staying safe out there in these uncertain times.

I once ran into Conan at a small coffee shop in northern california while I was in the US for vacation. He dropped his wallet, so I picked it up and we struck up a conversation as I handed it back to him. Really, genuinely, nice guy. We spoke about family, friends, career, all while standing in this line waiting for coffee. He offered me tickets to attend one of his late-night filming sessions but I had to politely decline given we were headed home the next week. Anyway, as we were saying our goodbyes, he confessed to multiple murders in southern california between 1987 and 1999. He whispered in my ear "no one will believe you" and walked away. True story.
The fuck?
same thing happens to me
Good laugh, thanks!
😂😂😂😂😂
only one flaw in this story. No chance Conan O'Brien ever got his own coffee
Thank you joe Biden for this video essay
😭
He sounds wayyyy too lucid in this vid lol
I was just gonna say lmao
The most frustrating part of all this is that whether or not Leno did it all intentionally, he clearly has no care or thought for how his actions will affect others. Once the damage is pointed out, he'll shrug and say "What am I supposed to do about it?"
Dudes a narcissist
Conan did the exact same thing to Jay...in 2004 Conan wanted Jays show...and negotiated for it. That started the feud...Jay just fought back in 2009 and wanted to keep his show.
Norm said it best...Why are these guys fighting over a name/number...go get your won show, we can all have shows.
Jay and Conan did the exact same thing, they both wanted THIS show. and fought over it.
They both had the choice to get their own show at another company,,,but both wanted "the tonight show" because of its prestige...both fought for it. Conan is just as quilty.
NBC messed up the worst by promising Conan the show and not keeping the promise(or never intended to keep it)
@@diox8tony in 2004 Jay could've said "no, I'm not good with this, I wanna keep going after 2009. I'm not gonna sign a deal or announce I'm leaving in 2009. Conan can keep waiting longer, or go to another network." Conan would've then said fine, waited longer, or took a deal from another network. Conan asked for the job, Jay could've said no. Would've been no stink. Instead, Jay wants to appear like a "nice guy" and lies, says he will leave, when he has no intention to. That's what caused the whole stink, Jay's lies.
Leno should have taken the same hard stance as Conan and refused to leave the 10pm slot. Force NBC to buy him out and then go over to FOX for a likely obscene amount of money to do a show until he was truly ready to retire.
@@ab130 what a shitty take. Jay Leno always sucked and was never funny. I don't think you understand just exactly HOW obscenely rich Leno is, because it was an insane amount of money even years before he fucked Conan over.

Btw, it's worth mentioning that Conan used the $40m from the NBC buyout to finance his staff to move to Cali for his TBS gig, kept them on their usual payroll, and even paid rent for some of them until they got situated and back on their feet. This is why everyone loves Conan.
I love Conan!
Plus he's actually funny
@@trevorcarlisle5447Leno was funny for his time in his prime, but he didnt evolve his comedy with the times.
Conan has constantly evolved his style to remain relevant yet hilarious. All great comics who still kill it do. But some, like Leno, keep the same shtick for decades and dont care to appealing to the next generation of fans. Im not talking about pandering, im talking about being able to be funny to any audience, and comedy is based in relatability. When a comedian loses touch with the times, they lose their ability to remain truly funny.
People find Jay funny, but mostly people his age. Conan however could make a toddler and an 80 year old war veteran laugh equally hard. Thats what makes Conan so great

Jay also was known to look out for himself and only himself. His staff didnt like him, and his friends all wrote him off. The guy was found hiding in closets while ppl were talking about bits, multiple times.
Conan is so drama free and controversy free that the only controversy involving him from his wholeee career is from 2004 and he was the victim and still came out on top

Craig Ferguson "Hold my whiskey"
Mathew Broderick killed a 28yo woman and her mother in Ireland when he collided with them head on while speeding on wet roads in a rented BMW. He received a $175 fine for careless driving as punishment, which is arguably more insulting than no punishment at all.

alec baldwin "check this out..."

You can tell what kind of guy Conan is because he's had the same staff, that seem to absolutely love him and vice versa, for decades. He's a decent human being.

The best part of that whole saga was how much fun Letterman was having every night.
Dr. Phil told Dave on the show one night "I had no idea you have such pent up anger towards Jay." Seemed to make Dave uncomfortable, too because he assumed Phil was gonna side with him against Jay.
And the worst part was the hypocrisy. The moment I noticed it I shouted, "Hypocrisy!! There is hypocrisy happening here!!"

My god that’s hilarious lol
I got to see his show from the studio audience around 2018. It was to be his last usual episode with an audience. He was to just do short video segments. His guest music segment was his own band as they would be gone also. Conan played guitar along with them. It was a great experience. Then later his show went back to the standard in studio interviews.
This is a bit too much AI for me.. Is this an AI Biden voice too?
Damn Norm's bit was so good.. What a genuine comedian.
No that's the real biden
I loved Conan's segments toward the end of his Tonight Show run where he would waste as much of NBC's money as he could in a segment. Like destroying "expensive" paintings and whatnot.

I was never one to really get upset about celebrities passing. But maaaaan I still cry when I think about the fact we lost Norm McDonald. He was always one of my favorite comedians, but just knowing some of the things I've learned beyond the fact that I could relate to his style of comedy have shown me what a dude he was as a man. Just kills me.
Watching norms last performance on Letterman... and seeing the mutual respect between norm, dave, and o'brien.... always hit me right in the feels.
@Danny Tallmage funny like your face. Bahahhahaha
@Danny Tallmage Odd considering that Conan & Andy did multiple long form videos honoring Norm immediately following his death, where Andy specifically mentioned how Norm was incredibly kind to his sister and that no other celebrity had ever treated her like that. Also Conan was on that Netflix special w Letterman, Sandler, Chapelle, Spade & Shannon remembering Norm..
@Danny Tallmage yeah, you're looking at it with the wrong context. Andy and Obrien knew Norm was doing a bit. It's not Norms fault that a bit took a little too well... AND Andy knew that.
YES! and lots of people agree
@Danny Tallmage one of norms best jokes is where he is the closeted homosexual, i do believe it is a joke my man
Wow this video is incredible… had me hooked for every single second. I really enjoyed it. It has a really good mix between voiceover explaining stuff and actual clips from different sources. I really like the longer length as it allowed you to go more in depth. I was confused by the Biden voiceover at first but ended up loving it… it’s a great sounding voice, please keep using Biden 😂😂 Even the random sections you had to make bizarre jokes were a nice break from the rest of the video and gave me a good laugh.

In my entire 25 years I’ve never watched a minute of Leto. I got hooked on Conan the first show I watched. Team Coco rules.
Most relatable comment I've seen on this video. I remember my first time seeing Conan, he had a robot that pooped coins into a bucket followed by a masturbating bear on stage. I was mesmerized. I can only remember changing the channel when Jay Leno was on. I only went back to watching Jay to try to nail down his voice for impressions.

im a year younger than you but had the exact same experience, watched 1 episode of his tbs show at some point in elementary or middle school and it suddenly became my nightly ritual even though i had never watched a late night talk show before
TV ratings are a scam. I doubt anyone who is a real person and can use youtube comments section ever watched Leno.
Advertisers are duped by the tv ratings which are based on phone surveys and extrapolation of purposely inflated data.
Leno was a placeholder for producing safe for boomers content which is also safe for advertisers aka not shocking the status quo and consumerism.
“Not everybody gets what they thought they would in life, but if you are kind and you work hard; good things can happen”. Thank you Conan.
at the end when it’s his last episode of the Tonight Show and he says “young people, don’t be cynical..”

Despite Leno being an absolute toddler about everything,, the thing that is fantastic in your editing of the events is how much you celebrate Norm and David's friendship, faith and support they had for Conan.
However, Norm did say he thought they were making too much out of this need for "The Tonight Show" to only come on at 11:35pm. As he observed, most people just watched the monologue and highlights the next day online.

22:40 I just experienced this prior clicking on this video holy shit. It's called jamais vu, the opposite of déjà vu, where suddenly something you knew becomes unfamiliar. It's kinda related to semiotics, the study of signs and how they communicate meaning. Jamais vu makes you realize the arbitrary connection between the words and their actual concepts. And its such a weird phenomenon, almost a surreal experience, that you can actually trigger simply by repeating words. Words! Those basic units of communication we use without a second thought suddenly just seem like arbitrary sounds or symbols, losing their connection to the meanings we've assigned them. Like all of it just dissolves and you're left there wondering what the fuck are those sounds coming out of your mouth.

Watch his video on Norm!
I read your comment and then looked up to see 30 minutes had past, but felt like it’s only been five minutes 😂
Subscribed! First video Ive ever seen of yours and it's brilliant. The ad breaks, the morals and ethics breakdown, the chatacter lolol. This is so fucking funny and I cant wait to watch hours of this.
Really enjoyed this. Thanks
The use of AI for pics and scenarios is brilliant and ground breaking. Voice-over is a great touch. At the start I was a bit surprised that the familiar voice was not there but as the video unfolded it just got better. We are entering a new era of content creation and you definitely are on the forefront of it.
As for the story I knew it but this was so much in detail. Great editing again. You have got down a great flow. All the best for the next video.
Appreciate it - thanks for tuning in 🤝
@@StyrofoamBonfire Can I ask what you used for the AI art?
@@StyrofoamBonfire they’re totally right. This is groundbreaking, quality content, and provided for no cost? Enjoy your meteoric rise 😊
@@StyrofoamBonfire by the way, how do you generate the voiceover? It’s absolutely immaculate
I thought the exact same thing! Phenomenal idea
I can tell the guy who makes this channel is an intergalactic weirdo and I love every minute of it. Can't wait to see this channel absolutely blow up over the next few months.
Shame "he" (probably a digital person tbh) stopped making videos. This channel truly has great potential
It used to be a novelty, but now I’m kinda freaked out by AI generated narrators.
I never thought I'd be watching late night television before Conan. Now I'm invested across the board.
Great video, subscribed. I have to point it out: in @22:25 It's actually "for all intents and purposes", not "for all intensive purposes". It's an "eggcorn", a common misheard phrase like "duck tape", "growth sprout", "ice tea", "pre=madonna", and most commonly "lack toes and tolerant".
Turd Ferguson: "Ape tit"
As someone with ADHD this video is so hard to follow and even easier to follow.. if you know what i mean. it's like you gave my brain time to digest what i just learnt, break it up with clever weirdness and move onto more. Such a unique storytelling that some wont appreciate but for those of us that appreciate it will always return. Great content brother!
I have adhd too but I don’t know what the fuck you just said. “Video is so hard to follow and even easier to follow”
@@alexello1189 for me it's just hard to follow
@@Kelab. yeah honestly i feel the same way and its even easier to follow

Agree
So Jay knew that a ten o’clock show would fail but put a $150M buy out in his contract. Smart guy I guess.
Nobody knows for sure if a show will fail or not. If they could've known ahead of time, *NBC* wouldn't have conceived the 10pm program in the first place.
This is one of the few videos on this platform that the viewership peaks duing the AD breaks.
Me and my sister used to watch Conan on TV, I was 7 years old, she was 11. We both loved him, and we aren't even American. He really appealed to everyone.
Conan's show is the only late night talk show I've ever watched with any regularity. His charisma and weirdness always felt more genuine and engaging than the other hosts.
And he’s just so effin funny
Conan is absolutely top tier, Craig Ferguson is another.
Craig Ferguson
Norman Mcdonald somehow always the most right on correct human in the room but makes it look effortless
hes pretty funny
Norm respected Jay as the funniest guy around --like the Elvis of comedy.
cause Norm's Canadian.
@@timcarr6401yeah but not funnier than his favorite comedian of all time, Amy Schumer
@@zeropointnineninenine4951 Bob Hope was Norm's all-time favorite.
I appreciate the Norm tribute.
Very well done video
Him asking if you’ve ever heard of a name as weird as Conan.. my name is Roarke… hahahaha
This is some of the best, most engaging narrative storytelling I've experienced in a long time. The editing, the folksy Joe Biden AI narrator, the foreshadowing and meta commentary is just so on point.
Instant sub.
Okay like it’s definitely some of the quality content on TH-cam but best and most engaging in a longtime ? 😅
Ai? Well yeah I guess your right. He was more understandable than usual.
^ yup.
The editing is high quality but the weird AI voice and audio mixing made it hard to watch lol
@@TommyTom21 Agree to disagree: the random observations/ramblings of a possibly senile old man kept me paying attention, despite me already knowing about half this story. (I particularly liked his getting so into the weeds with the "morals and ethics" question, dropping profanities about your fat mom and bread, that he totally loses his train of thought).
Conan is the best. Not only did he survive Leno - he effortlessly transitioned from being a huge tv-celebrity to being a very great - *and very funny* - podcast host...
His podcast is funnier and just overall better than any other comedians podcasts now
He just grew and held on long enough. I watched his older material compared to the greats like Leno and Letterman and it was very hammy and often poorly delivered. But his delivery now is incredible. He was always a talented writer, but he lacked that charisma and ability to construct a joke as a host until later in his career. One thing he always had going for him though: he rarely made mean spirited jokes at the expense of others.
Survived leno? i think you missed the part where CONAN (instead of taking a leading show at another network) attempted to take Jays Show....he started the fight.
1) 2004, Conan, Give me Jays Show. I want the "tonight show".
2) 2004 NBC, uh,,,ok but in 5 years.
3) 2009 Jay + NBC, well...I'm gona keep my show
4) Conan, darn, you win.
Why is Jay blamed for not taking another show at another network,,,when CONAN started in 2004 with the EXACT same decision. "No I want THIS show!"
Norm says it best. why are these guyS fighting over a name/number...go get your own show.
Seems like they all messed up...especially NBC. But Jay and Conan did the exact same thing to each other. tried to get/keep "the tonight show" instead of just getting their own show.
@@diox8tony Conan didn't try to take Jay's show. He was offered a frankly astounding deal by Fox in 2002 and refused. He only stayed because NBC offered to codify a "line of succession" for Conan to host The Tonight Show. They wrote a successor clause into his contract that when Jay retires/leaves/etc Conan would take over.
The NBC execs were licking their chops at Conan's young audience reach, and so when Jay's contract came up in '04, they informed him it would be the last time they renew him. Conan didn't mind waiting 5 years, and the story commenced. Conan wasn't "starting the fight". Conan asked for the show once Jay was done (He had been referencing retirement for some time, just no one knew when), and NBC then tried to have their cake and eat it too with both hosts.
He never tried to "force" Leno out, he only wanted to stay at NBC if he knew that hosting The Tonight Show was in the cards. The execs are the ones that tried to force Jay out.
And Norm can say that because Norm doesn't think ANYTHING matters. That's part of his schtick. For people who grew up in the prime of Carson's Tonight Show, that show mattered a great deal. It's why guys like Conan even wanted to be comedians.
Conan tried to realize his lifelong dream. Jay wanted to hold on as long as possible. NBC execs are easily, by far and away, the biggest "villains" in the story. Jay was lambasted across the industry by comedians large and small for a reason though. He wasn't necessarily malevolent, but he certainly shrugged and went along with a lot that was seriously hurting Conan's career, while then running around the press circuit with the "aw shucks, I'm just a good guy following orders" routine. Jay has to have known he was dooming Conan's show
@@Sn0wdyDay RE: "[But Jay] certainly shrugged and went along with a lot that was seriously hurting Conan's career, while then running around the press circuit with the "aw shucks, I'm just a good guy following orders" routine."
In 2004 Conan could've consulted Jay before agreeing to *NBC's* weird 5 year plan, but he didn't. Conan let the network tell Jay the decision to retire him in 2009 was already made. This when Conan could've left at the end of his contract in January of 2006 and gone to *FOX.* Doing that would've meant Jay and his staff could've stayed on at "TTS," Conan would've had his earlier time slot- and a much bigger salary than *NBC* was offering him to wait five years. The entire debacle would've been averted. But Conan had to have "The Tonight Show."
I like how the only time the host uses a human voice for the script is for ads, AI voice overs are fantastic.
I love how they pronounce everything correctly, have good, clear enunciation, and definitely sound human.
I just found this channel. I love the little side bar jokes and the fake ad reads. I think this is gonna be my new daily channel no cap
Damn, RIP Carson Daly, really rude of Conan to go and kill that guy.
I needed that brain driller to stay up for Last Call with Carson Daily.
Carson who? Never heard of him...
This is great stuff man
i’m obsessed w the fake commercials you got all notifications on for that one
Poor Carson Daly, he’s a good dude who’s worked hard for decades, he’s alright in my book. Also, he had a cameo in the highly acclaimed major motion picture “Joe Dirt” which for me is huge 😮
Dont forget My Name Is Earl!!
Yeah, I really loved the concept of him and his guests meeting and conversing over drinks in various bars
There’s no bad press , they just mentioning his name makes him gold , he knows and they know it
This still breaks my heart and everyone I know feels the same way. He deserved the chance he was promised.
That's how *NBC* rolls. They had a talent for screwing those who were in contention for "TTS."
Letterman was all but promised The Tonight Show and Leno weaseled his way into that gig. NBC did much the same thing to Conan, but worse. What they did reminds me of Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown as he is about to kick it.
@@richardvillafana8111 I know I never watched the Tonight Show or Late night again afterwards.
I feel bad for Conan, but man, his Late Night show was 100x better than anything they did on the Tonight Show. The Tonight Show w/ Conan was just a watered down/neutered version of Late Night w/ Conan.
@@MrTickleBean And yet Conan's tonight show was still miles ahead of Jay Leno's snoozefest.
Hey man, great intro. I just can't get past that AI voiceover. Anything you could do to get a voiceover actor if you don't want to do it yourself?
That Brain Driller ad break was freaking hilarious.
Conan is the GOAT 🐐. The things he brought to late night are mixed into every late night show now. He was silly and did skits before anyone
