For our September episode, we're soaring through an overview of what made StarFox 64 such a great game on the Nintendo 64.

You left off the fact that the rumble pak was the revolutionary selling point of Starfox 64. At this point in 1997 this technology was a new experience and it was a game changer so much that Sony used the technology in 1998 with the Dual Sense 1 controller for PlayStation 1. From that point forward every game system would include rumble in the controllers.
Criminally underrated channel
The menu select music is beautiful. Love this game
Amazing analysis of this game, this was definitely a childhood favorite, I still get the feels when I hear the Star fox theme.
"Who doesn't want Pigma to shut up"
Well, ya got me there
How come is this channel so hidden?! This video is awesome! And I already saw from the corner of my eye that you have an AOE II video as well, you can bet Imma watch that too!
Thanks for saying so, man! We've got a new video on the way as well, we hope you enjoy that one too!
I don't remember what the trophy system was for this game. Ribbons or Gold? But I remember that when you got one for each level you unlocked an on-foot character for multiplayer. So originally you would play with just the regular air-based fighters. I don't remember what you had to do to unlock the tank, but I think it was just beating the game. But if you went for 100, you got an on-foot character that was only armed with a bazooka of some sort. You basically had your regular fire and secondary fire just like the other vehicles, but now you were on foot. I never got to play this with friends too often, but when we did it was truly interesting. It worked surprisingly well, and it was something else trying to find a starfox character on foot while flying around. It was also fairly satisfying hitting a flying object while on foot. I can't stress enough how much I loved this game. Finding the real andross was in itself a crazy experience all together. I trust I'll be seeing a video about Golden eye if I keep watching, right?
Great video, really well done and enjoyable. Greetings from Chile
The best thing about this game the superb voice acting and dialogue. Makes everything so immersive
still my favorite videogame since 1997!
I rarely watch/listen to reviews, but yours was really great! It kept my focused from the beginning til the end. I simply love this game so much that i sometimes think to git good on it xD
Clearly miss this game t-t
One of my top 5 games from back in the day.. can still beat this on every route easily with my eyes closed. Back in the day got all the medals even, first time i ever achieved a 'platinum' run!
Did you ever play around with the on-foot characters that you unlocked for multiplayer when you did that?
Yo this youtube channel is underrated,
pretty good review 👌.
It sure didn’t feel like a rail shooter
Pretty decent episode. I like how you actually do answer the question you pose. That's pretty neat. You might want to look at audio mixing a bit, since there's some dead air when you aren't talking. Show a cool scene with full music and sound effects and fade out when you start talking again or something ^^
I think that could help.
Thanks for the advice, man! We keep toying with the transitions, but we're having trouble shortening them without making things feel a bit too abrupt.
Can you do an ep on Demon’s Crest? One of the peak SNES games
I have to admit, I played Star Fox Assault before I played Star Fox 64, and I kind of prefer the former to the latter. Maybe I ought to give Star Fox 64 another shot sometime, try to "get good" at it, as they say. After all, there's a reason why they keep using this as the template for all future Star Fox games (for better or for worse, in the case of Star Fox Zero).
❤
I used to love this game. Star Wolf gave me the finger after I shot him down for the 1 millionth time.
I used to feel like an ace fighter pilot as a kid whenever I wrecked his squad. Got faster and faster at it everytime. Loved the starwolf fights. The one on the other planet was much more intense.
During the SNES and N64 eras, I always thought StarFox was a better IP than Mario Kart.
Afterwards, StarFox tried too many different things, and Mario Kart continues to surpass it to this day, and we still don't have a legit StarFox game that keeps what SF64 did so well. 🤷🏻♂️
what about starfox 65?
Died of lung cancer... never smoked a day in his life.
