    This is the most concise tutorial and setup I've seen about using the geometry proximity node. Everybody else has dozens of extra nodes which, quite frankly, I have no idea why they're even being used.

    you are absolutely nailing this stuff down for folks bro . set ups like this can be used for so many things creatures being attracted to objects or even topological details for landscapes. wicked stuff here.

    For all the People who wondered, how to influence the surface with multiple objects. Just put a "Join Geometry" node in between the "Object Info" node and the "Geometry Proximity" node. Then create a new object or duplicate the existing one, drag and drop it in the geometry node editor and connect it to the "Join Geometry" node. Done

    It would have been nice to know how to do the material color effect using geometry nodes/ the actual proximity. Because, what if there is no height difference that you can use in the shader, but you want to blend 2 materials using proximity from an object?

    This is great! Is there a way to offset the position of any instance in proximity to an object/empty? Like "pushing away" the instances in proximity? I feel like it should be easy but I cant get it to work.

    Would it be possible to have multiple objects effecting the proximity? I've done it with multiple meshes in 1 object but I feel like animating the shape keys would be more trouble than it's worth
    EDIT: just noticed the thumbnail but I have a feeling that's just duplicated meshes

    Every thing works fine with a 2D plane but when I try to use something else like a subdivided cube or sphere it seems to inflate by default and there is no real way to compensate for it using vector math nodes since that breaks the way proximity affects the mesh in weird ways.

    When I try to resize the cube it doesn't resize on plane grid, looks like it separates (0.54min on video)

    trying to follow this with 3.0 stable, when i attempt to move the cube and leave the origin, it shows a boxed outline in the original spot. Afterwards connecting the object data doesn't change the plane when i change the size of the cube, any suggestions?

    My cube wouldn't effect the grid till I changed it from Original to Relative. That doesnt seem necessary in the original tutorial so I'm wondering if I missed something.
