It's amazing to me how insecure Ohio St fans are. After two decades of dominating "The Game" they are pounding the panic button and turning on each other. Definitely the cherry on top of U-M's recent success.
Who is panicking? Have you not noticed the off season additions at OSU? Ryan Day is being flooded with resumes to replace a coach who was almost let go after the season. You MI fans are acting like you got Hartline or something.🙄 If you think Alford is such a home run recruiter, go back and look at his recruiting classes starting with 2015 and tell yourself that's a resume of a guy who is one of he top recruiters in he country. Tony Alford biggest problem was he was chasing all these top backs in FL and the South without a back up plan. He out all his eggs in the mark Fletcher basket in '23 an when Fletcher flipped OSU had ZERO RBs in that class. Sam for Lyle in '24, no back up plan when Lyle flipped. Why do you think he was in the dog house with Day. This isn't trolling, I'm just telling you like it is. You guys are being sold a bill of goods if you think you're getting the RB version of Hartline in recruiting. Just wait until you see some of his RB rotation decisions.

After the Cotton Bowl debacle, 3 points against Missouri, there were plenty more "WTF?" posts. Alford is not a home run but a solid replacement.

During that period, Day's only loss to a team outside the top 5 was to 12th ranked Oregon. Meanwhile Urban's losses included a 29 point loss to unranked Purdue, 31 point loss to unranked Iowa, and losing to unranked Penn State by blowing a 14 point 4th quarter lead; all while the Buckeyes were ranked top 5. Your comment about a decline in play is just pure "feel like" ignorance, especially when it's obvious Day has faced a much tougher MI roster and coaching staff than Meyer ever did. Then, you sound even worse saying Ohio State getting all those portal players was "desperation" (btw, Judkins sought out OSU). I don't know who told you we're melting down because we are not. We just think the timing was weird because spring practice just started and the fact he went to our biggest rival was odd. Nobody here is acting like the sky is falling. He was just a running backs coach which again is odd because it was just a lateral move. I used to drive truck and believe me Michigan isn't exactly a beacon of hope. I had to turn my CB radio off to stop hearing the gay sex ads for exit 5. I did kind of wanted Eddie George to take the position but he wants to remain a head coach at D2. It would've been nice to have a Heisman winning running back as the running back coach.

If you look at Indiana's offensive rushing stats while Hart was RB coach there, how would you judge him? You can have a great RB coach but there is only so much he can do when there are so many problems around him.

You MI fans are being sold a fake bill of goods by your beat. How do you "steal" a coach who was on the hot seat back in Dec; and had to re-interview and take a one year deal with a pay cut in order to keep his job. The kicker is, he was on the hot seat for his lackluster recruiting. In the last two years he's lost out on Jordan Marshall, Mark Fletcher and Jordan Lyle, and the worse part is, he did it without a back up plan. Losing Fletcher meant OSU had ZERO RBs in the 23 class and then he went into '24 knowing 3 were needed and loses Lyle with no back up plan. It's true Alford has great relationships with recruits he clicks with, like Henderson, but it's the ones he's gotta fight for and keep the relationship hot that he struggles with. That's how he lost Bijan Robinson's (silent), Fletcher's and Lyles' commitments. Here's a list of Alford's signed RBs since getting the OSU job; DeMarco McCall, Antonio Williams, JK Dobbins, Brian Snead, Master Teague, Steele Chambers, Marcus Crowley, Miyan Williams, Trey Henderson, Evan Pryor, Dallan Hayden, James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon. Not close to worth the money he wanted, and that's not even including guys he chased and whiffed on. Then there's also those head scratching rotation decisions like keeping Miyan Williams over Henderson for too long, Starting Master Teague over Trey Sermon and putting Dallan Heydan on a milk box the last 2 years. This concerns aren't sour grapes for him leaving, they're been talked about for the last 2 years, and anyone selling Alford as some Hartline level recruiter and master tactician is flat out spinning you. But time will tell, we'll see how many MI fans still love him in 10 months.

What meltdown? Our running game sucked, we've had good RBs, our O-line sucked and that only leaves the coaches and we have 4 players starting on Sundays. The timing was bad but thats all. We've improved our O-line, our RB room our QB. We're set Chip can work with the RBs, it's his run game.
You picked up an Alabama O-lineman and that’s it. How do you know you’ve improved at QB? You got a transfer from Kansas state who’s only ever played in the big 12, which has notoriously bad defenses.

Alford has been a mediocre recruiter, it's just a fact. He's a good coach and great mentor, but he almost got fired after this season because of his poor recruiting the past few years. He had to reinterview for his job, and was the only assistant to not get extended. I don't know why he didn't resign in January, it almost seems like they were pushing him to.
