I have the same setup on my 3rd gen tacoma. My ride in the front is horrible very stiff even when rebound and compression is bottomed out to the softest. I wondered if I could release the tension on the spring to make it softer, but you said that was for the lift in the front. I never knew that. So it I want the same height in the front as it has now, I should not release tension on the spring then, right? Thanks for the clear detailed video.

I’m sorry to hear your ride quality sucks! So yes your preload will adjust ride height however the more preload the stiffer the front end will be. The best way to bring the front up without a ton of preload is to add a spacer above the strut. If you have this exact set up we ended up putting a 1.5” spacer lift in the front so we could leave his preload low. It now has an excellent ride quality and sits exactly where we want it on lift. Also going as low as possible on rebound can lead to a really bad ride as well. Compression down will soften the ride but you need the rebound to keep the tire on the ground after a bump. On his I believe we have compression at 3 and rebound at 7. Hope that helps!!
