Welcome back to another theory video, one that I meant to do some time ago, but found a renewed desire for after the latest Kigndom Hearts 3 trailers.
I guarantee that this is something many of you missed in Dream Drop Distance, thanks to the amount of insane plot that was condensed in The World That Never Was. After putting together the pieces, I honestly cannot see any other answer. This does retcon my result from the original theory video, where I talk about what's in the box, and come to the conclusion that Xehanort is actually the Master of Masters, but that's something that I realized was most likely incorrect a while back.
I'm of the firm belief now, that Luxu will be revealed to be residing in Xehanort's heart--it even follows the hard answer Nomura gave about the Master of Masters not making an appearance in Kingdom Hearts 3.
Let me know your thoughts on this video for sure! I'm interested to see what everyone has to say about this. Do you think it's on the money, plausible, or complete garbage? And why?

What if your theory is still correct though? What if Luxu is indeed Xehanort, and Xigbar is the Master of Masters, and Xigbar lies to the other 5 upon reuniting, pretending to be Luxu? Both Luxu and MoM wear the same attire, therefore he could use that to mislead them + it is Xigbar who's missing an eye (i.e. could be the one on No Name.) Just saying...

Probably the best KH theory I have ever seen. Great explanation and it makes perfect sense. I think that Xehanort is not Luxu but just someone who fulfils the same exact role as him. It would be really dumb if a villain who we knew for so long turned out to be someone who we saw for like 5 minutes. But hey, it's Kingdom Hearts, ya never know.

I though the exact same thing. Since Master of Masters told Luxu to pass the Noname Keyblade to apprentices (or something like that), so he could see the future. So basically Xehanort is a descendant or apprentice of older Noname wielder. (but this is pretty obvious without the theory, the theory only reaffirms this).

Master Xehanort used Terra to be his brand new 'vessel'. On top of that, how did Xenhenort know he could do this with his heart? Well here is a scary idea. Luxu was sent out on a quest but in order for The Master of Master's plan to succeed he needed to be eternal to make it happen. What IF Young Xehenort was Luxu's apprentice after he escaped destiny Island(He needed to get off somehow) and Luxu, and old man, transferred his heart into the young xehanort taking his name? And then repeated this process with Terra.
This is exactly what I was thinking. Luxu is Xehanort because Luxu kept transferring his heart and doing so caused him to lose a lot of his memories. Remember CoM? Of course you don't. JK. But the point is that even if the chain comes undone, the links are still there. What if they don't all reattach, or do so properly? It could cause Luxu's purpose to be corrupted and turn him from an eternal watcher into an evil mastermind. The scary thing is....it would allow Xehanort to time travel back to the days BEFORE they Keyblade War....
that or luxu handed his shit to xehanort just like how luxu got his stuff
This has been in my thoughts too. I think that it is the most likely scenerio
these are definitely some of the better kh theories I've seen in a long while and I'd love for you to make a video saying "called it" if some of these get confirmed

Ehh nice theory but 2 things.
1. Xehanort stated that he wanted to witness a keyblade war while Luxu has already seen one.
2. The MoM seems to be the antagonist for the next saga and if that's the case we could assume Luxu and whatever is in that box also ties in with that
Luxu's heart could be motivating Xehanort subconsciously. The same way that Sora had no idea about Ven's presence until he was literally told the story.

Because We've seen xehanorth influence "terranorth" to betrayaling ansem the wise and all the stuff that happened with it, and we've seen terra influence xemnas to be looking for his "old friends" and we've seen ventus reacting to vanitas and they all make alot of sense but the thing with luxu is just not in my opinion

1.MoM told luxu that he will do his job right because his "eye" on the Keyblade has seen events that will be in the Future.
2.Xehanort is most times even 10 steps ahead. So he has somekind of knowledge of the future maybe trough limited acces on the book of Prophecies.
3.Could it be that at the moment xehanort owned his new Keyblade luxu or MoM became a part of him. Because he doesnt know what he is planning like young Xehanort said.

While we see that Xehanort eventually uses the keyblade given to Luxu by the MoM, remember that Xehanort trained with Eraqus in much the same way that Aqua and Terra trained together. And it's been pretty well established that by their time, the Keyblade War had already faded to legend. I find it more likely Xehanort met Luxu than that he is him.
That’s a good idea, but it makes me wonder what does the KH 3 trailer that shows Young Xehanorth and Young Eraquos talking about the Keyblade War, that at that point, had already happened means

Yes the island where they went to play at. But that’s not the island where they lived. When xehanort was a child he could have been the only one who went to that island. Remember is KH1 Sora sees the dark circle in the sky and then rows a boat to the island.

The only part of this that makes no sense is that Xehanort wants to see the keyblade war, but Luxu's already seen one.
but that's just it. Isn't it? Luxu has, with his own eyes, but what of Xehanort's? as curious as he is, the war is just a means to that end. What comes after it with him, Xehanort, at its heart, as its instigator ? and not just as another self, an unknowing and seemingly uncaring bystander (Luxu).
Xehanort ain't just want to see the Keyblade War, he also want the thing that comes after it.
What comes after when Keyblade War happened?
KINGDOM HEARTS
The Master of Masters is, like a few others have said, similar to Axel/Lea in nature; I have thought this since my very first time being introduced to him. The difference, of course, being that the MoM can see the future and Axel is more of an Anti-Hero who looks out for his friends.
-Point One: We cannot see the MoM's face, nor do we know the extent of his powers, so it is impossible to know exacty just how long he's been alive unless it's revealed to us. This makes it entirely possible that the MoM has previously tried to stop events he's predicted/seen before, only to fail miserably. Of course, something like that would have taught him that not only is going against what is destined futile, but may also get others hurt. This would make sense as to why he is so obsessed with making events plan out in a particular way; he's simply playing HIS role. Also, it would explain his indifference to the entire situation, like of like "what's the point in panicking over something you know you won't be able to change?". Even his vague responses would make sense with this, as he sees no need to fully explain the situation to the others, because it would leave them feeling hopeless, helpless, and would stray them from their roles (again, that could cause more people to get hurt if the events are going to play out, anyway). Perhaps, the MoM is simply trying to optimize the inevitable outcome.
-Point Two: SLOTH (Light Blue) is the main color shown in the Keyblade. While their is also a hint of Darker Blue, there are also hints of Black and White. White is a shade that is, in definition, the symbol of "purity"...but only because it is devoid of any actual color. Black, on the other hand, is a mix of all colors. So, you have all colors there; this part is correct. However, this makes it a far stretch to assume it is Luxu because there is only one shade of blue in the hourglass. By using that the Light Blue is missing, the reasonable conclusion is that Sloth is the one who has actually possessed Xehanort and done all that. Since there is not really any evidence to point to that, though, it makes this piece of evidence confusing...or at least approached from an odd or slightly incorrect angle.
-Point Three: I agree with Luxu being the Villain, as it does make the most sense. He was the one given the role to pass on the box and Keyblade, we have not seen his face, and - after all - his name IS Latin for Lust...of all things. Have you ever heard the expression "LUST for power?"; yeah, it makes sense. However, this still leaves the question of what REALLY was in the box, and where the MoM went. If Luxu is the one possessing Xehanort, then it can't be the MoM and, thus, it does not make sense for his heart to have been in that box UNLESS...it jumped into someone else? If so, WHO? I would love to see a new theory on that. Also, though, IF - on the other hand - the MoM's heart really isn't in the box and he vanished elsewhere, then what's in that box...and where did the MoM go/what REALLY happened to him?
Before watching
Master of Masters is Luxu traveling back in time after he saw all the events that happened (so he could write the future book) then luxu becomes xehanort then xehanort becomes terra. Think about how xehanort could time travel! Meaning he lived his days as luxu under the guidance of the master(himself) then he met xehanort and took on his heart. This kind of explains why only luxu couldn’t receive a book. The master said something about a paradox but he gave all the other apprentice books....??? That’s already a paradox! And it may sound crazy but remember I said the master time traveled and then disappeared...so if he could write the future book MEANING HE COULD SEE THE FUTURE!!! couldn’t the master of masters just tell them to never doubt each other and never fight and the key blade war would NEVER literally NEVER come to past??? The masters of masters is luxu who traveled back to make sure things happened as they should and then most likely luxu took over xehanort...and then terra...and now he wants sora!! Am I Krazii???

This is actually a very good point. But have you heard of the reincarnation theory? Some believe that each foreteller may have been reincarnated as different characters. They may not have their memories but they stil hold some sort of similarity. Just look at Aced to Terra(especially their keyblade), Invi to Aqua, Ava to Kairi, Gula to Ven or Sora(there's actually an official render that shows Gula in the same exact pose as Sora's kh3 e3 pose), and Ira to Riku(this one doesn't make much sense to me though). So maybe Xehanort is reincarnation of Luxu?
True. Since that is the case, lets think of it being someone ELSE. Now bear with me cuz it will get crazy. In Union cross the MoM order master Ava to make sure the dandelions would forget the Keyblade war so that they can live without tragedy. Now Xehanort has stated before that he doesn't know very much about the keyblade war, hell he hasn't even mentioned the Foretellers. This leaves me with 1 possibility: Xehanort was one of those Dandelions. Meaning he lost his memory of the war, including the Foretellers and even Ephemer and Skuld. Who though? They are all just a bunch of nameless avatars. Well there is one, one that nobody could EVER expect. The Player. That being the player avatar you play as in the game.

I'm still a believer that Xehanort is MoM. One line from BBS that helps this is "I swore I would live to see what lies beyond the Keyblade War." That could be Luxu but considering that the book of prophecies only goes to the end of the war to which the final line says "and the light will extinguish" leads me to believe that something happens to Luxu ending the gazing eye's connection with MoM, that's why the book of prophecy never goes past the keyblade war. So it would make sense that someone who is so obsessed with knowing everything would want to physically see why he could not see into the future. I believe he locked his heart in the box and went to destiny islands. (When Xehanort takes over Terra his memories aren't complete again, same as when he was Ansem and Xemnas.) So if MoM removed his heart (or placed his heart into the boy we now know as Xehanort) that could've altered his memories.
Or Xehanort is Luxu and Yen Sid is MoM. I swear that's a book of prophecy he has on his desk.

It is said that Youmg Xehanort is being possessed by Master Xehanort during the battle and that is why he can break free from Mickey's Stopza. It always seemed weird to me to think of Xehanort possessing himself, so what if Luxu possesses Young Xehanort some time after he and Eraqus train together and then Master Xehanort (who would be part Luxu) possesses Young Xehanort here
Yes! That is a true fact that was explained in an Ultimania about MX possessing Young Xehanort. This makes sense, because Young Xehanort should not know how to use a keyblade at that time in his life. If this is truly the case for Luxu being Xehanort, then who is in who really does get confusing.
I think your on the right track. However I don't believe Xehanort is indeed Luxu. Not that I'm disregarding that they are connected but I just don't think Xehanort is THE Luxu. Now what I'm suggesting will sound very insane but keep up with me. I believe Luxu (aka a Youn(ger) Xehanort was all this time being possessed by an unknown individual. This individual being the TRUE original self of Xehanort. This means Terra isnt the only Vessel Xehanort has possessed over his/her lifetime. Not only that but Luxu isn't the only vessel this person possessed. Lets ponder on HOW did Xehanort gain those 3 recognizable traits he has. The Pointy ears, the Grey Hair, and Yellow Eyes. The pointy ears was from Luxu (the last vessel) which is certainly possible considering we have never seen his face yet. The Grey hair is from Ephemer who was the first vessel. And the yellow eyes are from Skuld, the 2nd vessel. Now your probably wondering who I think this individual is. Its gonna sound even crazier but hear me out cuz if I'm right this will be the biggest plot twist that Nomura has ever come up with. I believe Xehanort is The Player. The player avatar from Xchi, aka You! Think about it. What does No Heart, Xehanorts other name, even mean? It doesn't mean no heart as he has no feelings. It means he has no original personality, no self, or no unique traits. He is the living definition of a mindless protagonist from the Persona games. Now what do you think about this?

So what if Luxu had the last trait and he probably did something to both of them, and released his body and combined with the qualities of the two? (same thing Xehanort did before absorbing Terra.)

Very good theory! I think that Luxu isn't Xehanort, but that Luxu's heart resides within Xehanort just like Ven's heart resides within Sora. I also think that Luxu is going to be the 13th Darkness and that he becomes the new villain as Xehanort will die in KH3

Nice theory u could be right but remember this is the Xehanort saga so it ends with him and it was stated that the master of masters told Luxu to find an Apprentice to past the keyblade to not to survive thousands of years to try to repeat the keyblade so that small part from 0.2 throws off your theory

Self made Trillin no, Luxu can still be a traitor. The traitor isn't the one who "miss reads their book," it's the one who deviates from the roll given to them. Luxu also had a roll and if he deviates from that roll, he is then a traitor.
Cirex2118 i thought yen sid was a master before eraqus and xehanort also interestingly the only keyblade master whom we never see with a keyblade and has his own unique space unlike any other, plus he holds every secret and all knowledge, plus nobody knows his past other than hes older than anybody knows, i mean how far is it to think luxu is yen sid himself, he passed down the keyblade of mom to xehanort and his keyblade to mickey, in order to follow the plan, as he could easily tell everyone everything they need to know but he only tells them the bare minimum and although his book holds all knowledge you get to look at it a total of maybe 3 times, once telling you the past, once the present, and once the future, kinda like the book of prophecies
Luxu is long dead as his master of masters instructed him to pass the No-name down to his apprentice 100+ years ago. However, unless Luxu defied the master and decided to go with immorality route by passing
himself on to younger vessels till current time.
He did exactly this. Luxu is Xigbar, body hopping down through the centuries to keep an eye on his Keyblade and use Xehanort for his own ends.
This Theory is fantastic, I truly never noticed! I have noticed that his Life Bars are connected to those Hourglasses and vanish when you deplete a full bar. Hence he only has 6 Bars like 6 Hourglasses, the 7th is his last one after 6 Bars are gone.

While an interesting theory, i think it is a bit misleading.
Xehanort is neither The MoM or Luxu, but rather one of Luxu's disciples. MoM's keyblade has one of his eyes embedded inside if it, and it is supposed to be passed down from master to apprentice so that MoM can write the book of prophecies. At some point Luxu likely betrays the other Founders, and starts his own plan to reforge the X-Blade. Most likely Xehanort is a distant apprentice of Luxu's who knows what is in the Box, which is what causes him to follow in his master's footsteps.
Yeah I seriously think Luxu is Xehanort's master. In back cover, MoM tells Luxu to pass No Name to his apprentice and Xehanort is the one who owns it now. It's pretty basic but it makes the most sense. This doesn't completely prove this video's theory wrong though

I like to think that maybe. Luxu's gave a piece of himself when he past down the keyblade. But how did xen get the time power was it past down with the keyblade?
The time power was given to him by Ansem the Seeker of Darkness back when he had no body and was noting but a cloak

Great research and a solid theory! We know for sure there is at LEAST some connection between Luxu and Xehanort due to their keyblades. I would love to see this theory prove true.
I just realized his clock battlefield reminds me of the clock in Daybreak town. Honestly that plus the supposed thousands of years time gap between X and the rest of the series when you realize the disney worlds seem to be on time loops; there seems to be an awful lot of time magic in play. The MoM is actually Luxu, but also Luxord. Trust me. Luxord's Somebody name is Dr.Lou. As the Dr. was incorporated into how he was addressed he went from Luxu to Luxord ;)
Luxu might be Xehanort's ancestor, but not himself, as he had to pass down his Keyblade to him, and Luxu himself is from ancient times, and like the Master of Master said, he passes this Keyblade down to his future apprentice. There's also one simple thing that differenciates Luxu and YX, it's their voice actors.
By the way, the hourglasses shatter themselves as Young Xehanort has less HP.
Except xehanort was a young student after the keyblade war. Good try though. It's likely that xehanort was luxu's student though

Yes, I realized after I posted the video that I mixed them up at the end. However, it's still curious that all colors are represented there, without any repeating or any being off.

Either way you are on on something, that luxu and Xehanort share a connection is clear both have the same Keyblade. I had a thought for a while, maybe there are some keyblades who have a will on their own. We never saw the faces of the Foretellers maybe because the faces aren´t important. The Master of masters made those Keyblades and gave them the foretellers OR the foretellers were formed because of the Keyblades. Sure he made them from their hearts but over the years the Will of the Keyblade formed the foretellers to what the master of masters wanted them to be. Let´s say i am correct and the Master of Master disappeared because he transformed his will inside the no name keyblade that took over Luxu and after that Xehanort.
We know that a person can divide between body, heart and will because of Terra he is divided in 3 parts at the moment. So why not The master of masters too? His body and heart maybe died from old age or a illness but he didn´t want to die so he made sure his will will survive.

Another theory:
The hour glasses could be representing the 7 lights. And the prongs on that circle thing around the arena are representing the 13 darknesses. Maybe Riku is suppose to represent the 7th light and young Xehanort is representing the 13th darkness.

Does this mean Destiny Islands existed prior to the world being destroyed? This just doesn’t add up for me.
And don’t forget, Xehanort has to shed his body to go back in time, and there already has to be a copy of him at the time traveled to.

Eric Schwenke I’m with you on this it just doesn’t seem to add up. If that were the case he would know what’s in the box and he would already know what happens in the future and then all his planning and scheming just kinda seem wasteful. Not saying Xehanort is after the Box but it seems to hold a key figure in the series that he could turn his attention to.

Light blue is sloth which could represent time manipulation. It makes sense if you consider that the hourglasses disappear when he uses certain attacks

I don't agree with this theory. What I've always thought after watching X back cover is that the master of masters is xehanort, passing his heart into each next body. He passes it to luxu, luxu to xehanort and xehanort to everyone else. This is actually really backed up by the conversation between xehanort and eraqus in the kh trailer. How their master's favorite story blah blah "on that land darkness will prevail and the light expire" a DIRECT quote from the book of prophecies

If he was, he'd have known a lot about it by now if his future self was there, or at least have confirmed information about the next Keyblade War, (other than requiring 13 darknesses and 7 lights at the "fated place" which we can all assume what it is, what else has he mentioned?) or better yet, it would be strange to see Xehanort/Young Xehanort act the way he did in back cover...because then by the time that Keyblade War occurs, MoM is already gone.
There's actually a very slim chance that MoM is Xehanor...no. Why? In the KH3 E3 trailer, Xehanort and Eraqus is there. So count MoM out. But going by how Riku was able to have Ansem's body & Xehanort taking Terra's body, I can only assume that Luxu took form of somebody else's body, but is it xehanort? Hard to say at this moment. It wouldn't make sense considering that if Luxu managed to do that, Xehanort would fade. Luxu and xehanort existing at the same time? or is that when Xehanort found out about the keyblade war and decided to talk about it with Eraqus? hmm...
EDIT: I think I may have made it confusing considering MoM. What I mean by MoM not being Xehanort, is not because of how he speaks or acts, but rather that he's been doing certain things at certain times AT CERTAIN EVENTS. He says that the eye on No Name can see all the way into the future. That's what we know. How would Xehanort be the MoM? and be able to go all the way back to that time? (Remember, his former self would have to be there at a time for him to meet that specific person at a specific time, and event.) MoM was there at the same time as Luxu, MoM disappeared after the war, Luxu as well. Let's say Luxu took No Name and carried it for a while, then maybe passing off to the next and blah blah, or he may have stumped into Xehanort and Eraqus, and decided to train them, I don't know, I'm not Square Enix, I can only assume by the time travel logic. But in order for MoM to be a different Xehanort, (you know, the one we saw in Back Cover.) He would have to absorb the same way he did to Terra, by choosing either Sora or Ven (although I'll go with Sora since basically everyone is connected all the way to him.). Sounds impossible but with Nomura...*coughs* you never know.

I've always theorized that Luxu was the one who bore the sigil that Gula (Leopardus) is supposed to find (the traitor). Reason being that Luxu was not given a book of prophecy but was given the hardest tasks that directly correlates to the future of the entire series (gazing eye keyblade, mysterious box) so it would be easy for him to stray from a path he never knew he should've been on and since Gula never thought of Luxu as a possible traitor (or the master's of masters for that fact) then that meant the future had no chance of being altered. Plus the whole black coat signaling bad guy thing that KH does is kinda a giveaway.
If you just change it to have Luxu's heart living inside young Xehanort, then I'll accept this theory. My only issue with it is that young xehanort is a native resident of the destiny islands just like Sora and Riku, right? They even mentioned his existence in the first game "Some kid who thought the world was too small and left for the outside world" or something similar.
We knew he grew up there but we don't really know if he's actually from there. Would you say Kairi was a native resident? She grew up in Destiny Island but she's originally from Radient Garden.
You know what's actually disturbing? The fact that the cast in KH1 actually mentioned that "some kid thought this world was small and went on to leave to other worlds" (although I swear I remember riku saying that but it's been a while.) which means right when Xehanort left, he was actually nearly the same age (I know we don't know about his age, but the time in which Xehanort was secretly mentioned) as Riku (I say Riku because he's older than Sora.), so I find that interesting Xehanort actually fast-forwarded in time (or backwards? wait, Xehanort existed in KHBBS, which was 10 years before KH1. The kid in which they mentioned that left...*sighs* I really need to have something to drink.) but...I'll just hold this theory for now, my mind is blown to pieces.

Why xehanort knows earth magic and decides to use that among the magics is because he may have been best with it considering terra is master level or a master by two, three masters, or so shows how much power xehanort outclassed terra (literally earth) by in dirt magic. Use the time traveler key which is black when the terra aqua and ven use it but colored light blue for Aced... coincidence?
Well what if he possessed the body of a child/teenager? Its creepy I know but Xehanort was originally going to use Ventus as a vessel so I don't think its out of the realm of possibility. Now if this is the case then 1 candidate comes to mind: Ephemer. Cuz remember the quote from bbs: "I swore i would survive and be there to see what lies beyond the Keyblade War!" This means he/she could have been a keyblade wielder back in Xchi. Hell, maybe he/she possessed 2 vessels, that being Ephemer and Skuld. Because they do have the yellow eyes and grey hair. Now who could have possessed them? Brain? One of Foretellers? No, its actually someone you'd never expect. Its you, The Player! Think about Xehanort's other name No Heart and his keyblade No Name. No Heart refers to the players personality because he/she has no unique qualities and no self. No Name refers to the players identity because he/she has No Name, or at least a Canon one. And not only that but remember the dark chirithy? This means that The Player could have deep connections to the darkness cuz it was revealed to be YOUR chirithy. Or the players.

And because of the role he was given luxu would never see it, he would just pass on the keyblade and die. So I think instead of passing on the keyblade he’s passing on his heart so he can keep seeing what his master sees. “My heart is my guiding key” I think he took this as his heart is the literal answer in how he can live long enough to keep seeing what his master saw since he was forbidden to read the book of the events

Great work. I agree with most of the theory. However, I think there are slight problems. Being that during BBS when Xehanort says he vowed to see the world after the keyblade war, which is consistent with what the Master of Masters wanted. In addition to this, the NoName keyblade was already in existence (hung up on the wall) during the scene with young Xehanort and Eraqus playing chess. I think it makes a bit more sense to believe that Xehanort is Luxu's apprentice, and somehow the Master of Master's heart was transferred into him.
If you look very closely, you can see a hourglass at the end of Young Xehanort's keyblade just like in the background.

He can’t be Luxu cause if you remember Young Xehanort mentions that he has not yet obtained No Name. Luxu had it from the very beginning, which means that it’s more likely that Xehanort is just a disciple of Luxu. We also haven’t figured out if Eraquis was also a disciple of Luxu’s and he just wasn’t chosen to be handed No Name, or if there is another keyblade master that we don’t know about (if there’s somewhere that says Yen Sid trained Eraquis someone tell me and correct me please). I personally believe that the story of the Master of Masters and Luxu will continue on into Kingdom Hearts next saga and be a plot point for future games still.

If they could possibly represent pieces of light, what If Riku (also in the stage just like Xehanort) represents the 13th. That would again reference 7 pieces of darkness and 13 pieces of light.
