- In February, Williams pleaded guilty to kidnapping Mobley eight hours after she was born from her mother's hospital room at the University Medical Center, now UF Health-Jacksonville, downtown in 1998.

It's a choice and a crime
Taking someone's child is not a mistake. She should get the full sentence. It is not okay to take someone else's child. I can only imagine the hurt and pain of not knowing for almost 2 decades where who is she dead or alive. That can really mess with a persons mind. Judge do the right thing by this family.
You know I've truly heard ppl debate how well the birth mother could have raised the child and it leaves me in shock. I don't care who or what the mother is this is just horrific . The pain the hurt the time and emotional barriers that this kidnapper has caused everyone involved won't heal easily . This is truly a vicious crime and I couldn't imagine don't truly want to understand that hurt . No mother should go thru this no child should go thru this .

Gloria Williams did not make a mistake she knew exactly what she was doing. Gloria Williams also knew it was wrong and she was stealing life from the biological parents .... So I don't understand why they're using the word "MISTAKE" ..... Gloria Williams needs to be giving the maximum time. I do not feel sorry for this woman. My heart goes out to Kamiyah biological parents. Also for Gloria Wiiliams family has nerves to ask the judge if she can come home. I don't understand their state of mind because everyone knows this is just WRONG!!!! This woman committed a serious crime and if the shoe were on the other foot her family would feel the same way as Kamiyah family feels. This woman sickens my stomach.
She stole a child. She caused incredible hurt to the parents of that little girl. They didn’t know what happened to her, if she was sold in some horrible child slavery ring, if she was dead or alive. They had no reason to hope she was being raised in a reasonably healthy environment. They must have suffered horribly, from not knowing.
Now, that she is back, they are still angry, and justifiably so. They are hurt and grieving because of all of the lost years. They are victims. Kamiyah is also a victim. But Kamiyah has a relationship with the woman who kidnapped her. She a very close relationship with that woman. She loves her, because of the years they spent together. She loves her as a child loves a mother, because that is what this woman has been to her: a mother.
Her own mother didn’t have the chance to form that relationship with her. She will never get back those years. Never. All she has are the years going forward.
If the woman who kidnapped her is given a maximum sentence, though, it will likely put a wedge between Kamiyah and her birth mom. Kamiyah is her own agent, and she will have reason to be angry with her birth mom for begging for that maximum sentence. Even if it is what the kidnapper deserves, it locks away the woman Kamiyah has grown to love.
There’s no way to force Kamiyah to develop a relationship with her birth mom. It has to be something she wants. Locking away the woman who raised her will only hurt her relationship with her birth mom, not help it.
The victims deserve a fair chance to heal, and that will probably happen best if the kidnapper is not locked away.
My heart goes out to Kamiyah and to her birth mom. I hope they are able to repair their relationship, and build something good out of what was stolen from them both.

This is why when giving birth you should have a lot of family members around in case you want to sleep. Now this 18 year old child is going to need a lot of counseling. My prayers go out to her true parents.

I’m sorry but she needs to be patient with her daughter. You’re ripping her from everything she thought was reality. If her bio mom would just love her and not expect anything from her, in the sense of denouncing the woman who raised her, I think this would be better for the victim. I know her bio mom is hurt by the bond she has with her kidnapped mom. But to her that’s her mother and always will be. She should get something but not death or 50 years. She has showed no other signs or criminal behavior.

I'm reading these comments and I'm shocked at some of them. Especially that ones stating to set her free because she raised her well and because she did a better job then the birth parents would have done. We are not talking about an animal. We are talking about a human being. No can kidnap a child and get away with it just because she did a good job raising the child. When I read comments I always try to see each person's point of view. I honestly tried and can't. Her actions can not be justified.

Which suggests she may have tried to leave the lady before, and she refused to release her. There is so much more to this story. How dare someone suggest the young mother would not have done a good job of raising her own child. She had parents who would have helped her. As a society, we have given in to evil. Anyone who doesn't know this is an evil person, who committed an evil deed, must have an element of evil residing in them. Out of all the hospitals locally and far she picked that particular one like she had access to information or something . I don't believe that statement about her trying to find some random baby to take , I believe she found out in some way that a teenage Mother gave birth to a baby girl at that particular hospital and she drove all that way to take the baby . Takia Kahler..it's more to the story. details is need. the truth need to be told. 1998, dispospal camera, to take pictures. family members could have taken picture of kamiyah. why family members didn't take pictures? 16 years old, no family members not at the hospital. 16 years mother talking to gloria. stating, what, i am going to do. meaning the newborn baby. the father in jail, pregnant a 16 year old. again, no family members at the hospital. somebody arranged this newborn baby to be TAKEN. with no evidence, pictures of the baby. once, the biological mother received the settlement. she cash in to get lump sum. kamiyah settlement amount, the mother kept. even thou, kamiyah called biological mother, hung up. biological mother call kamiyah back by telephone, stated happy birthday and hung up. before she was 18 years old. the biological mother should have call the police.the biological mother had contact with kamiyah. but she didn't call the Police. it's about kamiyah settlement money. somebody is not telling the truth...yes, a crime happened, but who was all involved?

This girl's voice is gone because she has been screaming and cutting up for years! Trust me, she didn't learn of this information when they exposed her mother. In my assessment, the mother made a deal with the young lady and agreed to come forward when she became of age. This way, the daughter would not have to testify against her. Well, she should have studied law, because the legal parents have the right to testify and bring charges against her. This girl is a horrible person, at no fault of her own. Solely because the mother knows what she did, she overcompensated for her wrongdoing. In the end, this young lady is going to continue to wreak havoc on society and everyone who doesn't allow her to have her way. That anger needs a cap on it, and quickly! Once again, another young and angry black youth has been destroyed at the hands of grown ups. As for jail time, I can't decide what this woman's fate should be. I do know a white woman would be headed to a clinic for mental illness. I would suggest the same for her. You would have to be both evil and mentally ill, to commit such a crime.

Keep the Change - Read my comment; I said that I happy she is alive and some suffer abuse and never survive. She survived and I am celebrating that. Obviously there is a long road to recovery and I am praying for her. However, I am grateful that the mother had a chance to see her child alive. Do you know how many end up visiting their child's burial ground, wishing that they had one moment with their child while he/she was alive?

What i don't understand is the bio mom never not once had a vigil released balloons on her birthday each year a few weeks after the kidnapping you never heard anything else on the news about the case it's 2 teenagers that has been missing from here and their family is constantly doing something to keep their names and faces fresh in our minds on birthdays and the date the went missing nothing in the beginning after she got that money all uoy heard about was the money she received the car and house she purchased then the house that hot foreclosed on i know of her but i know her cousin and the cousin said no photo was even in the home we the public only seen 1 photo but several were taken with a personal camera if it was me my baby pictures would've been all ober my house I'm not her don't know how she felt but i get the feeling out of site out of mind yes Gloria was wrong but thank God dhe took care of the young lady instead of mistreating her

Kamiya/Alexis is a an adult now and how she chooses to feel about her kidnapper mom is her decision. When and if Kamiya becomes a mother she may finally understand her birth mother's pain, but that won't necessarily mean she'll stop loving her kidnapper mom. All the people I hear spouting their righteous anger are not in this girl's shoes. If you found out that the mother you've known your whole life had actually stolen you from your real parents your feelings wouldn't turn on a dime either. Give the girl a break.

Our three year old disappeared at a Chuck e Cheeses. We found him about ten minutes later looking down at us from the tube attraction (they don’t have this anymore). That was the longest ten minutes of my life. I can only imagine what this mother felt for 18 years.

Kamiya is NOT going to stay away from the woman that she has known as her mother for 18yrs. She has forgiven her, she loves her and she will always be in her life. Her REAL mother has to get into therapy with her daughter and her father, to build their relationship, to understand Kamiyas feelings, to heal, forgive and THEN build a family bond with their daughter as she is NOW. This is going to be a painful process for everyone, but it can workout to the good if they (excluding Glory), all work at it together!!!

Stockholm Syndrome is when a kidnapped victim feels love or sympathy to his/her abductor but Kamiyah was raised by that woman for 18 years for goodness sake since she was a baby Gloria didn't abused Kamiyah or anything and she was the only mother she knows of course she is going to love her she has no connection to her biological mother I get both sides both of them are in pain the mother spends 18 years in pain over losing her child the moment she was born and not being able to see her grow and Kamiyah discovering her mother the woman she love stole her but you can't expect Kamiyah to immediately hate Gloria and love and build a relationship with the woman she barely knew I know that Shanara is her bio mother but she is just a stranger to her she never have any connection or any relationships with her bio parents.

It’s sad that she doesn’t recognize her real mother. The sadness that her mom feels will never be understood by this young girl. She was robbed of a life with her baby that didn’t have the chance to be with her real family and what she did was not a mistake but intentionally done.
She should absolutely be locked up. Can you imagine being 16 and pregnant, going through the process of growing up and then preparing to be a mother. Going through people talking about you because you're young and got pregnant and waiting for the moment to enjoy motherhood, and then have your child taken from you and not know what happened to her. She didn't rest for 20 years, it's not like she could make full peace with her child going missing cause she never knew what happened. And then trying to heal from that and move on with life, to 20 years later finding out she's alive and well, but now her own child cannot see her as a mother because she was raised with someone else. I can only imagine the heartbreak, she destroyed 2 lives primarily and other people involved as well.
The sicking part is the young woman who is I'm sure is torn between two familys .... Justice must be served and I pray it is. I just cannot imagine what is going on in the young lady's life and her mind, it appears that she still feels that is her mother and most of all I hope this young lady somehow will be able to resolve this matter in her mind, I just cannot imagine me being that young lady it has to be so confusing and it doesn't appear that she wants to let go the lady or should I say monster that raised her. My prayer for the young lady is that some how God will get her through this trying time.

I can't even imagine the horror this mother has had to face all these years and then to see her daughter love the woman that kidnapped her whether she raised her well or didn't. After you carry your child for those 9 months and birth her , 18 years later you will only feel her being ripped from your womb once again.

Should have given her LIFE. Idk how anybody sympathized with her. Everybody I've heard speaking about this lady sounds like they felt sorry for her. But if it was THEIR CHILD, none of what she did "good" for that girl would've mattered. She lived a life lying to that girl. That young girl was lied to her whole freaking life. She should've gotten life. Good thing she's in her 50s she'll likely not live long enough to be released tho, so that's good.
