Sam, I know your not specifically working with a PM25mv, but by chance do you have any recommendations on a replacement motor and vfd for that size mill? I’m currently running one of the bldc 1100w spindle kits from automation technologies but the portion of the controller that can be controlled from mach3 is damaged and they don’t have any controllers they can sell me. At this point I’m considering a vfd and new motor as not having mach3 control the spindle is really annoying and sucks up time pushing buttons for rpm, start and stops. Thanks for all you do. I follow every video of yours!

      Hi Louis,
well the PM25 head is a little smaller but I have seen big motors installed several times. This motor is a monster in terms of power and Torque 1000 to 1 but its 50lbs 6.5 in dia. and 14 inches tall. It is my next motor upgrade when I do my cabinet. but its surplus and limited quantities. its a great Deal at this price. dealerselectric.com/Y522.asp?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-IDng7eN2gIVm4WzCh3JWgkCEAYYBSABEgIDRvD_BwE
You may need to beef up the Z axis motor because like I say see is a monster. this motor is similar. to what Russtuff installed.

CNC4XR7 I’m running a nema 34 on my Z which I think is similar to Russ. 50 pounds is a crazy heavy motor though. I think that’s a little more then I wanna jump into as far as size is concerned. In truth this spindle motor that I’ve got currently has been more than adequate for what I’ve been doing but I having to manually set up an adjust for every other tool really stinks. I found a couple threads on C&C zone where they discussed different motor options for the G0704 size the mills but the problem is those threads always turn into a pissing match on specs and discerning definitive information becomes a headache. Thank you for the input, it’s really appreciated

Hello sir. I ordered a PM727V and am waiting on it to ship. I plan to keep it a manual machine but I was wondering if you had any input on "must have" modifications.

It's a really good machine overall, I would add some shims to tighten up the backlash on the hand wheels.

It looks like that was a grizzly Mill. Why not just use one of their belts and Cog pulleys?

Nice & clean Sam .. just as a side note: The pins that align the lid should be tapered pins and have threaded bores on the top end. Can't remember what thread they were on my machine, but if you screw in a SHCS & leave the head just above the top of the lid . you can use a small pry bar to pull the pins out and the lid is free!

Thank Gary! Yes I figured that Out there M5 on this mill. comes off easy if you remove the pins.
