    What I want to see (actually, buy) is a TRUE 4-channel system - one "brain" with front-facing camera, plus 3 additional cameras.

    • @PanzerPlatform
      @PanzerPlatform 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yo Robb,
      That's exactly what I want too.
      But, with 4K@60fps all cameras, and a Parking Mode that doesn't require Hardwiring, or an Auxiliary Battery.
      I'm guessung, I'll be waiting for a WHILE. Like 2030. Lol

    If the parts were sold as components - cameras & DVR, "dash cams" could work like home security cameras.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Hugh, absolutely. Technically if you have them parked in your driveway, they're already acting as "home security cameras" :)

      Hi Sharelle, each dash cam has its own wi-fi network, so you're just switching in between to look at the footage. Good to see such great responses to these videos - we'll definitely try more in the future!

      @@blackboxmycar Hopefully Thinkware can come up with a 4 way system that will rewrite only one WiFi signal for all 4, where those of us that already have 2 can just purchase 2 more and it will still function as a 4 way system.

  • @RafaelSwit

    Would love to see a bit more about actual usage of this type of setup - not just installing and driving around.
    I’m curious if two sets of 2CH cams, interfere with each other’s signal and is app able to work with both.
    If you have a quarter rear window on the side of your car, it might be a better choice for placing the side camera. Yes, the view will prioritize more of the back, but at least you won’t have to worry about lowering rear passenger windows.

    I have been using the u1000 since preorder and have enjoyed it. I used an a129 duo as my rear camera setup and just haven’t gotten around to installing the “rear” cameras to the side windows. The a129 head unit is my main rear facing dash cam. The reason I went with the a129 duo as a rear/side window setup is because I use the Bluetooth module to lock footage. I wouldn’t be able to remotely lock footage if I used another u1000. I’d love to though if Thinkware comes out with some sort of remote.

    Hey Joseph this is kinda off topic, what do you think of a 4k ir dashcam facing outside instead of inside the cabin to catch license plate at night? Because I was thinking the ir would reduce the light glare on license plate at night which would give you better details??

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dave, with a 4K IR dash cam, typically it will be 4K for the front and 1080P for the interior. We haven't come across any instances where the interior camera would be 4K as well :)

    Very cool video! The mounting of the side cameras seemed odd. The back windows can’t be rolled down anymore. Maybe on the left and right side of the front window?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. You're right by mounting the camera on the back windows will make them unusable whilst the cameras are mounted. The most ideal location for the side cameras would to be on a set window that does not go up or down but there wasn't one in the car we used!

    If I install or plan it on a 4 channel dash cam, would be on its 4 corners of the car so that it will cover all angles. I don't care other crashes or comet passing by as long as I'm cover when accidents or unusual things happen :)

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We'd recommend doing what we did, and placing it on the rear side windows so that it covers all the angles!

  • @frankr.2392
    @frankr.2392 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool experiment and funny, you didn't mention what the power results were from the battery pack (i.e. is this configuration sustainable if the battery pack is hardwired or just plugged into the cigarette lighter).
    One other thing, I have a 2016 F150 truck and would like to see one or more of your vendors (i.e. Blackvue or Thinkware) who can and will create a 2 channel camera where the rear camera can be installed in the top center area of the tailgate. I believe the company that does this will have a goldmine of sales from other pickup truck owners like myself. My backup camera is installed there and it just seems to me this wouldn't be that big of a challenge for either one of those two companies. Thanks!

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Frank, the power results are definitely sustainable as it's pulling from the battery pack. It's just that when the battery pack is hardwired, it's being charged too. Without hardwiring, you're simply using the battery from the battery pack, and it will be good for a period of time.
      For your truck, I'd recommend a DR750X-2CH IR Truck dash cam. It's designed so that the rear camera gets installed on the outside of your truck. If you'd like more information, please email us at info[at]blackboxmycar.com. We can help!

  • @MacReflections

    I really like that. I think it would work great in a two door with fixed back windows such as a camaro.

  • @vaz2385
    @vaz2385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    On the side cam view can you roll down your window with pulling the wires out? Or just set it and forget it. Or should it be place on the smaller back window that doesn't move.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the cameras are placed on the rear windows then they would not be able to be moved because of the wiring. Ideally it should be placed on the smaller back window that doesn't move

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should be good! Our only concern is that I'm not sure about the tint on your rear window, but brightness is adjustable with the Thinkware U1000 so it should be okay. If you have any questions or if you want a second opinion, please contact us at info[at]blackboxmycar.com.

  • @dashcamjourney4599

    Is the Thinkware U1000 overrated? What’s the life span of this dash camera, image quality, glitches versus a Viofo Pro Duo or Blackvue DR900? Based on the reviews I’ve read on the Internet, people have problems with this dash camera for the price. If anyone is spending $400-$500, that’s unacceptable

  • @itxitxski

    Can you recommend me a 4k 60fps (front view only) dash cam (it should be good and i hope under 1000$) to make sense or should I go in the direction of go pro 9, dslr or smth similar? Gl further.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there, unfortunately 4K 60FPS dash cameras are not available as far as we know. You can certainly use a GoPro/DSLR for your shooting, but it depends on what you're using them for. We wouldn't use a GoPro for long-term shooting / as a dash cam if that's what you're using them for.

  • @leeuniverse
    @leeuniverse 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The only thing I don't like about this is there's a "blind spot" in the Transition because the stupid cameras don't have wide enough lenses.
    Also, I would have liked this video to have given more info, on hooking things up (the wiring/boxes/etc), do the cameras "sync" in the App, etc.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's to bad 4 channel systems have limited options (usually taxi CCTV 4 channel, but advantage is any size 2.5 ssd/hdd can be installed into them so long recording times but usually limited to 720p/1080p and seem scetchy low £250-300 price for system Excluding HDD)
