Advice on hands and face in solo jazz from Ksenia Parkhatskaya.
"To me, the hands and arms are one of the most important part to focus on when dancing any style. If your arms are “dead” and hanging the whole movement, whole body looks “dead”.
The arm movement makes the movement what it is: sharp, big, playful, elegant and it helps the movement speak, transmit something.
It is very insightful, that in African dance styles, for instance, where the roots of jazz dance styles lie, the arms are always active and are doing a specific action. For instance, throwing, taking, planting, collecting, catching food, cutting, killing, hunting and so on.
Gestures in our daily communication life occupy tremendously important place. We get so much more information through gestures. Emotional information, intention, action and so on"

you’re not teaching just dance, I feel like its about the way we intereract with everything around us. in such a grace, we all could or even should naturally feel the moment and put attention on how we deal with things.. life can be happier with small gestures

This is exactly the way I feel about your dance tutorial! I am nearly disabled in my ability to walk (back problems, bad knees, degenerative arthritis throughout my body). I actually used to dance, walk, run, hike and bike...very active lifestyle. I can't do any of those things now. But, I still have muscle memory in my hands, wrists, and arms due to all the hand dancing I used to do.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video! 💖 It has helped to enlighten my soul. I have just realized in a sudden burst of knowing that I can use this type of graceful movement to help me to relate to the world around me, even if I cannot use my legs in the way I once could.

hands это кисти рук, arms это руки от плеч до кончиков пальцев, palm это ладонь(поверхность, которая держит что-то), я думаю.
