That's going to be a awesome restore if you go that way...I would love to hear that run....Leon I got my hands on a 1962 Stihl 07 really low hours, but ruff in looks, has been sitting for over 55 years. I will soon be digging into that beast...
Hello Sir. My dad was a timber cutter from the %0's to the 70's , Who I learned the skill from. He used Homelite chainsaws all his life. I subscribed, liked and shared . Hope you ars having a great New Year.
That was a fun investigation. It's kinda like me (collective me, all of us really). 40+ years ago a photo would show you a young teen, strong and smart and ready to take on the world. Today, a photo would show the grizzled grey hair, the lean to the side, the 'you can see the limp even standing still' and the cane held by a person waiting on knee replacement. :) I think part of the choice too would be "do I clean it up, get it running with minimal maintenance parts, and clear coat it" or "make it off the shelf original" and with a hot rod, blown up, modified, and limped along saw well tells an interesting story in its way. Heck, you could even just use some fiberglass and epoxy and fill in the hole, leave the battle wound and let it be a scar :)
I just watched a TH-cam video for filling in an aluminum casting where a chunk was blown out. You might be able to do that. Seems like it was a torch and aluminum rods. Interesting video
There is a hardware store down the street from me of the same model. It's mounted above the counter on the wall and they all know I want to buy but they're not selling. Patiently waiting, it looks very clean and would be great in my pampered but muscled collection.

Can you tell me what phone/camera you are using to make your videos and if you are using a microphone? You can email if that's better
