  • I have finally got my car back from the garage and they have said that the seals were loose and the plastic trim on the top lip was replaced because they needed a new peice for the inside which included the top plastic, inside the top plastic part it was damp because of the water going inside and there is insolation inside which got damped aswel because there was too much water inside. hopefully everything should be fine for the water damage part.

    I had this just starting on my 14 plate astra, only a tiny amount of water but like some others I traced mine back to a rubbish plastic grommet covering a hole in the body behind the nearside tail light cluster. The water seeps in there, goes down to the bottom of the cavity behind the rear fuse box (behind left tail light), then it runs in to the horizontal frame running across the width of the rear boot sill. If you remove the hard plastic sill trim covering that frame there's cut outs and holes in the frame where you can see in and verify it's wet/dry. The water in mine was running along in there to the right side then finding a way forward through a vertical panel seam on the forward face of that frame inside the boot, it would then trickly down and sit in the rear right corner of the spare wheel well. Very hard to trace when it's travelling so far behind trim pannels but very quick and easy to rectify. I removed both tail light clusters as there's two grommets on the right side too, best to seal them before they leak.

    I got water issue as well on a 2006 meriva which is possibly coming from the rear light i have tried sealing them to no avail

    Have a similar problem on my wife's Meriva. I've sealed around all gromets, holes for the light fixings and cable entry points. Had the rear bumper off and sealed around the body mounted air vents and water is still getting in under the same plastic cover as on your car 🤯. Thanks for sharing your issue. I need to get that cover off and try and trace it back. Hope yours is still dry. Vauxhall's seem notorious for this issue.

    We have had a problem with water in the actual rear hatch door of our Astra, which piddles water out when you open it.
    The water comes from the drain holes in the bottom, but when the door is closed the seals BLOCK the drain holes, thus stopping water drainage.
    I don't know where the water gets in on our car, but it isn't via the door seals as the water is INSIDE the door.
    In our case I'd guess either where the glass is bonded, part of the light cluster bonding, the stick-on central badge area or the rear wiper seal.
    This is our own experience and may not be the same problem as yours, but today we have had a complete electrical failure.
    Typical over-rated British cars with problems they should not have.

    Hi has that fixed the problem? Did you get any leak after replacing that trim

    I have this problem with my Corsa, garage first said oh its from steam cleaning the car. Then we took it back and they said it was the lights, they looked at the lights but no leaks. The aerial seal was rotten though so they replaced it. The car still got water in so they looked and found that a bung behind the light had gone so sealed it. After all that water is still getting in. I will check for a loose boot seal now when me and dad strip it down to find the problem.

    Just discovered exactly same leak on my 2015 corsa,, it wast too much water and it has been constantly raining here for weeks.. I will check the boot seals, they're in good condition but might not be pushed on properly somewhere. I could pull the seal away at the bottom to see if it's wet behind it. The cars under warranty so if I can't find it then vauxhall can sort it out

    Do you have any problem with led lights. I heard that led lights for plates have samo problem so they turn on the lamp on the instrument panel.

      @R4hmans  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ask my has been ok, I got the one with a canbus fitted so it doesn't affect anything and I used to have a normal led light and that didn't do much other then having a message come on the screen, it still lit up didn't have problems, I heard some cars do have problems if they use led with out canbus

      @R4hmans  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stuart Baxter oh right, you should get it checked before it gets worse, I never really checked the spare wheel place too much if it was leaking or not, could of got it fixed before it got to the seats, mine was done though the insurance

      I thought they only dealt with car accident not something like this.

  • @Luke-hg3qc

    I've had this happen to my astra and has made the car smell bad, this must be another common fault, these astra's are riddled with faults
