Thank you for this video and making me realise I’m not going mad! Mine has water coming in at exactly the same point on both sides when it rains. I now know where I’m going to have to sort it out. Thank you

There is indeed a hole at both sides of the car pal , passenger side in the uk anyway is easier to fix . apparently you just need to remeve the boot side carpet and then remove the fuse-box which is only one bolt holding it , this gives you access to seal the hole.
To seal the hole on the drivers side it's a bumper off job, but i found a way to get access to the hole without doing that .......by simply cutting an approx 3 inch by 3 inch hole on the inside with a small angle-grinder opposite the hole , then you put a blob of silicone sealer on your fnger and seal the hole, it only takes 2 mins to actually cut the access hole.
I do have photos of how i done it but seems i can't add photos to my post.

I've got my rear lights electrical taped up, but I will check this as I'm still getting water in the boot, thanks for this pal 👍 love my car other than for this stupid issue

There's videos on youtube on how to remove the rear lights mate , it's very easy , a few minutes is all it takes .
The rubber locating grommets perish so need renewed , or just apply some silicone sealer on them before re-locating the light, it's a known fix , that's IF it's getting in there.
In my case the water was getting in exactly where i showed on the video , and was deffinately coming in these silly holes behind the bumper brackets , i've 100% fixed the issue now.

Thank you so much for this. I've spent over a week doing all the things above, to no avail. That is exactly where the pool of water starts, on the inside. Only thing is, with mine water only comes in when the car is being driven in the wet - you can leave it all night in a monsoon and nothing comes in, but as soon as you drive on a wet road, the floodgates open.
Also, I gave that area a good blasting with the hose at the weekend, and nothing came through. I have a suspicion, sadly, that there may be more than one way water can end up in that particular puddle...

Water can get in from a few different places unfortunately , it would seem your issue is that water is getting thrown up from the back tyre maybe .......i've read that some others have this issue too.
Some folk seal up the boot vent which seems to sort the issue , well some folk have had success doing that.
If you remove the side carpet panels in the boot you'll see the vents.

@@steview9899 I found my leak a couple of days ago. Mine's on the passenger side - if you take the big fusebox off, there's a hole in the panel behind it, and through there there's a circular hole, about 1", which appears to have been sealed on the outside (covered by the bumper), through which water was running fairly freely when a hose was applied to the area of the tail lights. I filled it with silicone, and the leak has stopped. Now all I have to do is dry the carpet, and hope there are no more... PS the hole is apparently present on the driver's side too, so may be where yours is getting in too, after going through the junction between bumper and body... good luck!

@@rogerfenton9985 yes it was pal , i fixed it a few months back.
Rather than taking the back bumper off to get access to the hole i just cut a small hole on the inside with an wee angle-grinder and thin disc , took me 2 mins to cut the actual hole, job done.

@@rogerfenton9985 I seen a pic with the rear bumper removed on an Insignia Facebook group and kinda worked it out .
I've took pics of what I did , and tbh I keep meaning to make another wee video , just havnt got round to it.
Are you on Facebook yourself ?
If you are I could send you the photos ?
Sorry probably no need for that , I've just re-read one of your messages where you said your leak was the opposite side , and it's fixed .

Cheers for this. I’ve a 2018 insignia, and my driver side back seat is soaked. Looks like it’s coming in through the boot and running through the wee channel and down into the seat bay. I’ve stripped the boot down to the metal siliconed the bejesus out of it, and soaked the exterior with a hose. Thought I’d solved the problem, until it rained yesterday and now we’re wet again? 🤔 Back to the drawing board.

Mine has the same problem and its caused by the water seeping in through gromit from the rear tail light. New gromit should hopefully cure it!

I also have the same issue on my Opel Insignia 2016, it's coming out of the same area as you pointed out in the rear.
What can i do to properly seal it? I've even brought it to a mechanic but they suggest removing entire rear bump and doing alot of stuff and quoted me like 1000 dollars for the fix which is just absurd amount.

the same issue here I've tested pouring the water over the back light on the driver side and the water travel inside of the boot - matter is worse if the bum is up and front down I guess if car is the other way round car will have less water ;) - I need to take of the wheel and madguard and see if I can somehow stop this - pity that author of this video haven't done part 2 how to solve this correctly - any way still useful. Thanks

  • @sufsRS

I had exactly the same issue but much worse had to remove carpets and suck out the water. The fix is easy remove the rear bumper and you will see a hole that is covered by some kind of tape, over time the adhesive comes off. I replaced it with a rubber grommet, Remember to do the other side too which is actually behind the fuse box. Really bad design by Vauxhall

    • @steview9899
      @steview9899  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Yes , i was aware of the hole covered with tape.
I didn't bother going to the hassle of taking the rear bumper and parking sensor wiring etc off though , not outside in winter, no chance...... i done a 10 minute fix .
I cut a small cigarette packet sized hole (or less) on the inside with a small angle-grinder and thin disc , it took 2 mins, this enabled me to get a good blob of silicone sealer on the end of my finger and to cover the hole , its an easy 100% fix.
An electric drill with a hole-cutter would do the job great too.
Once the side carpet is back in place it's obviously not seen.
You done it the proper way , i done it the easy way.
As you'll know mate, it's great to have a dry boot again 🙂

That's exactly the symptoms I have. Only thing is, with mine water only comes in when the car is being driven in the wet - you can leave it all night in a monsoon and nothing comes in, but as soon as you drive on a wet road, the floodgates open. And I'm pretty sure I applied the hose to that join between body and bumper, with nothing coming in... so, unfortunately, it may be that there are multiple entry points for water, all ending up in the same place in the boot

So many of them suffer from water getting in , my bro-in-law checked his 17 reg Insignia when he found out about mine..........turns out his spare wheel well had water in it.
His is the last of the old shape , poss the newer shape is better .
Believe it or not the Insignia A like ours is produced in Germany .
