People this is the best video for crv brake pad and rotors replacement because it actually goes thru E brake actuator. Which all models have. So many videos do everything correctly except skip this step. You’ll mess up the electronics for the E brake if you skip this important step.
Also there is a video out there that shows someone just force compressing the actuator and after doing my brakes, I think force compressing that acuator with out proper tools will ruin it. There were times when I tried just compressing it but it would not budge without the spindle adaptor turning the caliper. So this video here is really good.
This is the best video I've seen on how to do this repair - tools, techniques, reasoning, best practices, etc... most excellent, Huge time saver, thank you!
Your video is an extremely comprehensive video. I can only imagine what you charge to do all of that work. I personally would just change the pads and rotors and call it the day
Yours is the best, most comprehensive, rear brake pad video. But I ended up using the 12v DC method to rewind the EPB. My brake sets when I turn the car off. Can't find anything in the manual about changing this behavior. So my caliper was locked down on the rotor. Had to retract the EPB electrically just to get it off.
I just did my rear brakes because of this video. I was worried about the accuator and how to compress it but I got it done after watching this video. My only ptoblem was I just had a compression tool without the spindle adaptors. So I bought the spindle adaptor for a socket wrench seperately. This worked turning the caliper but it made it harder cause sometimes the spindle would slip off. And for like every 1 or 2 rotations, I would take the adaptor off and compress it with my tool. And after a couple of turns, the caliper would not compress anymore and I had to use the adaptor again. So next time I do my rear, I will get a new compression tool that has spindle adaptors included so when I turn and compress, the adaptor won't slip off and it will be easier for me and faster.

Thank you for posting the video your instructions are very clear and well thought out. My 2017 crv lx I used a T45 to wind the brake back but it went back so easy I think a large straight slot would have worked just fine.
Got a video on how to replace the rear wheel bearings on this gen or CR-V's? Also one on replacing the front and rear struts? We bought an 18' CR-V this past fall, I noticed the rear passenger wheel bearing is a little louder than the rest on the highway.....time to replace it.
It is not allowed to put silicone grease through the rubber protection, this is a big mistake ... because most of the grease remains in the rubber protection, instead of removing the rubber, you are too lazy to insert the plug with grease, the question is how much grease is stuck inside that grease...

You don't need to mess with it, at all. Just spin the piston back into the caliper, old skool style.

Excellent instructional video! First time changing my wife’s CRV with the electronic parking break, and she made it easy

Excellent... I've just bought a 2020 low miles CRV Hybrid which has been sitting parked up for 6 months. This will come in handy no doubt. 😊
Thank you for these instructions, they helped me and my friend who are in a bind with money 🎉👍🏻
Very helpful, thank you so much for making it. The back of the piston on our 2018 CR-V took a T50 size Torx bit.

Is it true that if you rewind that epb motor manually, you don't need to turn the caliper piston, instead just compress it back?

Best video for this job so far.
This was a super good video. Well demonstrated, good information, ideal for beginners or experts. Thanks
On my 2018 CR-V I needed a T50 Torx bit to turn the e-brake.
Can you double confirm the CRV model years this brake kit supports? The instructional video advertises up to 2022 but the kit is only up to 2020?
Thank you for your detail video! Is it the same/similar process to 2016 HR-V?
You do excellent work! Your attention to detail is second to none. I wished you lived by me, as you would work on all my Vehicles!

Any idea what kind of scan tool will let you do the retraction electronically?
is this for hrv 2023 too? or is it for crv only?
Can you push the piston in instead of turning it after retracting the e-brake?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
Great video , Thank you TRQ
I mixed up the caliper pins.. is it on the bottom or top of the caliper when its in place?
Thanks for the great video
What is the reason for backing the caliper piston to the 12-6 position?
Excellent instructional video! congratulations!

Does this work for a 2018 Honda HRV?
Have you ever use the manual tool that turns the caliper piston and the epb motor at the same time? Does it work?
3rd way .. just put the car into accessory mode, turn off E brake, unplug motor, caliper tool will turn and compress the piston at the same time.
Thankyou you're an awesome mechanic
Nice and easy explanation ...Congratulations ..!do they have EPB device on both right and left rear wheel ? Thanks
I liketed very good explaining tanks you so much
thank you for the video it excellent
What about just disconnect the battery cables Frist to stop the movement of the exetrator ?
very good ❤
Call your local advanced auto or similar, they have caliper tools for rent. One of them will.
Tnx❤
Well done!
Ecselente trabajo 😊
2021 Honda CR-V...T45 (not T55) torx bit
Отлично спасибо!
