I do a drain and fill every year. Along with the cartridge filter. I do the pan filter every 50k miles with a new pan gasket. The most important thing is a drain and fill. Also from my 3 years of obsessive research they say the cartridge filter is more important than the pan, so they say. Its a good thing to warm the car up first. I like to go for a 20 minute drive, then once im home, and get the car level ill wait for the fans to cycle twice. Then I drain the fluid. Once the fluid is drained, and refilled, I once again warm the vehicle up to temp (fans come on twice) once the fan stops cycle through the "gears" shut vehicle off. Then immediately check the level. You want just a slight drip drip drip. Not a gushing stream from the level check bolt. Its important not to be under or over filled. Honestly, on the civic 1.5ts 4 qrts is a perfect amount. I also agree with you, i too like to let the fluid drain completely. I see so many videos of techs and other people just calling it good once most of it is out. I realize theyre probably flat rate, but draining it ALL out is the best thing to do. I actually enjoy maintaining my 2019 civic coupe ex-t. Fluids are everything. I dont fall for that 10,000 mile oil change BS. With the oil dilution issues the 1.5s have I like to use good oil, a wix xp filter, and change it every 4-5k. Brake fluid I do every 2-3 years. Coolant every 3-5 years. I typically use all valvoline products. Except for the transmission, hcf-2 for that. However once i do a few mods ill probably switch to amsoil cvt. Amsoil is 100% synthetic and wont void any warranties. People complain about the new hondas, especially the 1.5t, just have to maintain them, and youre good to go. My cars considered "old" now and it still runs and drives like day 1 with 3 miles on it. I keep the paint super clean and protected, and fluid film the chassis every fall. Ceramic coat it once a year with tec580, and after every wash I dry with tec582. I detailed cars for many years, and tec582 is amazing. Surprisingly basic turtlewax wax as you dry is great too.
Thanks for the in depth video. My '17 CRV will be getting this service at home. Also, that is one immaculate engine compartment. Texas Forever!
Well done video. Cleaning the fill "plug" top and sides keeps road dirt out of the transmission and keeping all mating surfaces clean is great. My sense is Spencer is right that filters are do every 3d (90,000 or so transmission oil change).
Well done video. I can confirm 5 quarts is not enough when you change both filters. I was going off other sources of information and thought it would need about 3.5 quarts. I put five in and it still needs more. I'll need to pick up some extra bottles to get it filled properly.
On my 2016 the battery and airbox are in opposite positions as what is shown in the video. It makes getting to the heat exchanger filter more challenging. I removed some of the plastic and went in from the bottom. Even with the battery removed the battery tray is in the way.
The Wix filter kit (58732) does not contain the correct large o-ring for the front filter. It also contains a pan gasket but that too is wrong.
Wow! Clean engine compartment and beautiful garage floor! Excellent tutorial, you are a very good instructor.
@@garypritchard9787 thank you!
An absolutely superb job! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us in a very clear and accurate manner. Best wishes for your continued success on TH-cam.
@@frankmatthews3755 appreciate it, Frank!
Gary, very nice and detailed video I found it helpful I just bought a 2019 CR-V 2.4 L. I will do a fluid and filter change with it at 90K if i understood you correctly. I bought it with approximately 50K and it was a certified vehicle so the dealer confirmed to me that they had done a transmission fluid change. Not sure about the filters. Anyway change all at 90K.
You did not mention the transmission breather fitting/plug; I want locate and check/clean that as well. Where is it located. Thanks again for a excellent video... nice shop too.
Once I finished watching the video, I thought mine transmission fluid was also already cleaned! Great video, with all details and specs!!! Thank you for sharing it!! I cannot imagine that car was driven by girl: it is clean in and out!!! Engine compartment looks like brand new!!!
Thank you, appreciate it!
Excellent tutorial video. 👍
Thank you for posting very informative videos that also include the torque settings which may other automotive TH-camr's fail to mention.
Good job! Made my mind up to diy my Honda, thanks
Best video i have seen on this. I find it really difficult to remove the air intake box and to press it back in. It looks like after you press it in you have slide it to the smaller ring?
Great content!!! Exactly what I was looking for in conducting my next service. 👍👍👍
@@richards.5354 glad to help!
Awesome! Very informative detailed video. Keep it up. Thank you. Do you have some video on how to clean the throttle body of 5th gen CR-V?
Great video! I have to ask how you get your engine bay looking like new? Or is that another video, haha
@@JohnNuttall-nv4hu thanks! I enjoy maintaining and detailing my vehicles. Car detailing is one of my hobbies and I’m a very detail oriented person.
Looking at those filters, I think they could have easily gone 90k to 100k before replacement, magnets and pan looked good in my opinion, as well. I think the key is frequent fluid changes on these, every 20k or so. That's my plan, anyway.
That looks like a cast pan on it and not the pressed metal that is often found on many other transmissions.
You are good
Is this the 1.5L L15B engine?
IF I NOT CHANGE THE FILTER/ I JUST DRAIN THE OLD TRANSMISSION FLUID OUT/ ABOUT HOW MANY QUARTS DO I NEED TO ADD INTO. 2018 crv 1.5 turbo awd. help me find out please
I answer your question in this video: th-cam.com/video/yDUzuMUnHO4/w-d-xo.html
3.9 qts for 2wd or 4.5 qts for AWD.
I have 2022 crv hybrid awd. Does it same amount of fluid?
Different transmission
Excellent video .. thank you
@@plus_r_mode8173 thanks, you’re welcome!
Don't forget about rear diff. I think, it's a dual pump fluid...
@@tomwalma4762 my CR-V is FWD. So I don’t have to worry about that….
How many miles on it
90k
