Hi Everybody! Here is my Dash Cam installation video th-cam.com/video/44WXN8MI66o/w-d-xo.html And my hardwire installation video th-cam.com/video/uZp95NbNlmM/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
Excellent video. I'm debating between this and Viofo A229 Plus. Between the two which would you recommend not considering price as the A229 costs more.
Thank you! Ah unfortunately I have not tested the A229 so I can't comment on how it's performance or how it compares to the R2-4K Dual. I will see if we can add it to the list of to review (list is getting longer by the day! LOL) Cheers!
Thank you! Ah regarding the rear camera, nope the video is not mirrored (you can see this during the demo and during the driving video portion of the review) Cheers!
Hello Alex, I am glad to see someone review the Rove R2-4K dual with starvis 2. Have you done a review with the Vantrue E2 which seems to be close with this? The vantrue does not have the starvis 2 and seems to be a smaller footprint but the Rove seems to have a few different options like the starvis 2, a rotatable camera which might come in handy, a 128mb memory stick and a few options on mounting. Thoughts and don't remember if you did the Vantrue E2 or not. Thanks
Thank you Ken, glad to hear that. Ah yes it would be nice if it was smaller (the Rove) specially since I usually don't use the screen much (after setup). I think size does help if you don't plan to use the App and if you want to use the onscreen menus with full descriptions of what each option does (something that is difficult on smaller screens). I will take a look at the E2, however this is what I been telling dash cam manufacturers: Starvis 2 is such a large leap (specially for day, night gains are minimal imo) than anyone who does not upgrade to it, will be left behind (as non premium dash cam). So while the market will be there for 1 and, I think Starvis 2 will dominate the premium sector of the industry. Probably be good to make a video comparing Starvis to Starvis 2.. Cheers friend!
Hi P! I usually hide the excess in an a available area, here is my install video so you can see how I do that th-cam.com/video/IYRavaIBmSY/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
Hi 80s! Ah this one th-cam.com/video/pe7MCtun4So/w-d-xo.html if you only need part time cabin coverage but want motion tracking. Or this one th-cam.com/video/d6OObfweGts/w-d-xo.html if you want to switch between cabin and license plate capture camera. This one th-cam.com/video/8bWYvNcam3M/w-d-xo.html if you need live video and vehicle tracking. Or this one th-cam.com/video/pZ9HcEmL2GU/w-d-xo.html if you want to have the option for a rear camera in the future. And here is my follow up video th-cam.com/video/F7OzM2i7ErE/w-d-xo.html where I cover the different places a dash can be installed and their challenges. Cheers!
Heyo! Looking for a security dash cam that can let me know if my cars being broken into, it’s all I need but I can’t find one, please send me to a video or link of one that is reliable thank you 🙏
Hi S! Ah what you are looking for is a Cloud connected dash cam like this one th-cam.com/video/EBLvq2X2SwQ/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/pe7MCtun4So/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/8Q-u3PHmfls/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/BAEH4f2ulEs/w-d-xo.html (live video, tracking, notifications to your phone etc.) Cheers!
@@stay_in_school-8048 Hi S! That will depend on the dash cam, most use power from the cigarette lighter plug or a hardwire kit. Here is my video explaining hardwire kits th-cam.com/video/Yky9_tTvwMc/w-d-xo.html And some use power from an OBD2 power adapter, here is my video explaining the OBD2 power adapter th-cam.com/video/YEklm9V6xYE/w-d-xo.html And some use power from the mirror area of the vehicle, here is my video for those th-cam.com/video/-hGu8KZLaZ4/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/P0VapL70m7c/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
Hi M! Ah yes unfortunately there are no dash cams in the market yet with 4K for the rear (only interpolated 4K). Current dash cams use AHD 2.0 for the rear camera signal and that standard is limited to FHD. Not long ago the same company that developed AHD announced that they have began working on AHD 3.0 which will support higher resolutions (however considering 2.0 took many years to be released, it will be a while till we see 3.0). Once that standard comes out, we will eventually see dash cam manufacturers began to use it at some point in the future (which I don't see coming any time soon). Cheers!
Hi F! I never stated that this is a native 4K sensor or that is not. Rove does not disclose the sensor model they are using so I cannot say what is inside the dash cam only what is shown in the settings menu and the driving video (which is 4K at 30fps). If you need a native sensor I would recommend one like this one th-cam.com/video/3mB_gHIjXqo/w-d-xo.html but again keep in mind that just because a manufacturer says that they are using a particular sensor model, it does not guarantee that is actually what is inside, here is a good example th-cam.com/video/GQZne5fsWw0/w-d-xo.html I do have more teardown videos coming so we can confirm what is actually inside more dash cams as well as a dedicated video where I cover native sensor resolution in more detail, stay tuned. Cheers!
Hi M! Just checked the link, it's working correctly. However if you are in a area where Amazon does not deliver the R2-4K Dual too, then it's possible you will be show an alternate product instead. Hopefully they add more delivery locations soon. Cheers!

Fantastic video! Set mine up super fast from it. I may have missed it but is the rear cam image supposed to be mirrored?

13:30 must be a fellow Floridian, he aint got no signal.
LOL!
The cable from the rear camera going to the front camera is too long. What can I do with the extra ?

Hi Z! Yes, the mount allows you to turn the camera. Cheers!

It's not a true 4k sensor and not a true 30p. Research my friend!
