i’m a ballet dancer and this is a very similar eye look to what we do when performing in large theaters! it makes your eyes look so much bigger so that audience members in the back can see them from far away
@@BelleLopez312 yep! the choreographer chooses the makeup and hair, which can get crazy if you’re doing a show with multiple choreographers and you have to redo your makeup throughout the show. generally though, the larger the theater, the more intense the makeup. a lot less blending and a lot more contouring for big theaters, because otherwise your features would look blurry under the stage lights from far away

I love to do a simplified version of this eye makeup on the daily. I can't help it. My saucer eyes are just not suited to the currently trendy angular lifted cat eye look that everyone is sporting, I have to go with what I've got, and the big round dolly look just works for me. Love to see you showcasing looks and techniques that are a bit outside the current trendy zone!
I’m a burlesque performer and a lot of the techniques used here are what I do for my stage makeup! I usually use glitter/shimmer shades so it’s nice having this video for a matte version.
Still give it a try you might surprise yourself of how great it can still look, just in a like different way which just makes you UNIQUE! Hooded eyes are beautiful and I would not mind having them. :)

I have hooded round eyes and didn't even know this is supposed to be a "dool" look😂 this is just how my friend taught me to do my eye makeup at the age of 15 to open up my lid and enlarge my eyes even more and I just never stopped doing this
@@Blackonyeko the way people were pulling their eyes was the same way people make fun of asian eyes. and it’s awkward that people have made fun of asian eyes for being the fox eye shape but all of a sudden when some white girls did it it became a trend.
The white eyeliner part reminded me of an old video by Lisa Eldridge and it was a Marilyn Monroe inspired markeup or something. She mentioned that Monroe used to draw a bit of a white at the outer corner of the eye to mimic the shadow that eyelash casts.

I’ve become so overwhelmed with makeup trends lately because it makes me feel like I could be doing something even MORE flattering/attractive than what I’m doing currently, then I try so many techniques that I can never decide what actually DOES flatter me. All that to say, you’re basically the only person that I feel educated by in a way where I feel armed with the knowledge to work with what I have, not with what I “should” be achieving (I.e. the fox eye trend, which, when I fight the natural shapes of my face too much, it does not look good) and you never make me feel like I NEED to be doing certain steps. And that’s very refreshing, because it’s hard to admit when some steps don’t really work for me when they seemingly work for others. I feel empowered by your videos, so honestly, thank you.

This is perfect for hooded eyes the way the focus is on the lower lash line and up above the crease. I've already been doing the nude water line but i haven't tried putting shadow under it. It's so nice to see a tutorial without all the shaping and crease work being so crucial to final look. I feel like most of the eye shadow and make up tutorials in general simply don't work for my face shape because they only focus on trends rather than different techniques you can adapt for your unique features. I agree with the changing of the lippy to a more matte type of lip. Not that I dislike glossy lips, that is my favourite way to have a lip, but with this look a more matte lip is better in my opinion.
A little tip (esp if you have a deeper skin tone than alex), using a light nude pencil rather than stark white makes it look less cartoony and more wearable for everyday!
