By the way, when wavedashing with Roy, is better to air-dodge 2/3 or 5 frames after the jump?

I'll definitely consider that, I was thinking that character specific stuff would be good to post so I'll see what I can do!

I've been playing Melee since the day it came out but have always used up on the analog to jump. I've tried switching to X/Y to jump and its just too jarring, forcing me to relearn almost 20 years of experience. Is trying to learn to wavedash effecitvely with the analog totally infeasible/ do any remotely successful competitive players exclusively use the analog to jump like me?

Honestly you can get away with using analog, players like rishi and hbox use analog stick to jump. I recommend buttons to jump just because it's good to learn from scratch that way but if you wanna tap jump you can do well with it.

i would argue for wavedashing it is not feasible

I played all smash games growing up using tap jump, last year when I started playing ultimate I soon decided to disable tap jump and switch to only using Y. It takes a bit to get used to but just playing matches and focusing on using X/Y to jump instead of the analog stick will make you learn it in no time. Now when I play smash 64 I have a hard time because I'm not used to tap jump anymore lol.

It took a few days to a week to get out of the habit of using tap jump completely, so just give it some time if you do want to switch

The amount of things I've had to unlearn and relearn to play this game at a higher lvl... I don't even hold my controller the same anymore. Jumping with buttons is the just the beggining
