    I adore the PS Vita. It's thanks to the PS1 games on the store I was able to play Echo Night & Klonoa: Door To Phantomile without having to break the bank on Physical copies. I feel it had a lackluster game library that looking back really appeals to JRPG fans but not much else (I adore JRPGS but for those who aren't fans of them the library left more to be desired) It's awesome the Homebrew Community & Limited Run Games are keeping the system alive still.
    Great video Erik! Glad you & many others are showing love to the system.

    Sorry I'm late to the party! Had a long weekend and finally able to catch up. I have to say, really really enjoyed this video. I'm sure it took quite some time to put together too. But I could talk about this for so long. One thing I will say is, I wish we would see a portable psp from playstation again. Nowadays, I find myself too busy to get on the TV and play games, I have more time to play on the go, via my work lunch break or if I'm traveling. It would be perfect as I love my switch for this exact reason. I had the original psp and wish I jumped on board with the psp vita or even the go (that one was so cool, I remember seeing as a kid and getting so excited it reminded me of a cell phone). If they could revamp it, they have the market for it. It just feels like Sony won't make the push because they're more directed towards remote play from your mobile device instead. I would pay the money I do for my switch to get a portable play station again😪

    • @ErekLadd
      @ErekLadd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well thanks for tuning it - don’t worry about being late at all! Anyway, I’d say you would really enjoy a vita. As much as I love the switch, I just find the vita so much more appealing because of what it is and the whole allure of a Sony handheld just has a different vibe. It’s worth getting and putting custom firmware on it, or even just getting it to collect games. Thanks so much for coming over and checking out the video. You’re totally right though, this video was about three weeks of writing and one whole week of editing. Huge video!

      Definitely! There’s no comparison to an OLED screen. Looks so good!

  • @User-sb6er
    @User-sb6er ปีที่แล้ว

    I dont understand why many compare the vita to the switch...the switch was just an upgraded wii u with removable controllers and they improved the portable concept and the docking to play on the bigger TV. Which were ideas the had with the wiiu, just improved. The vita is a fun system and a must own, but Sony originally just didn't have that much confidence in the vita and with the fan base not buying enough...it's why it failed...cause there wasn't that much demand for it. If the only introduced a new final model with better online play and the memory card issue then the vita could have survived today...but glad to see the community keeping it alive today...but just shows that not all tech company's can survive in the handheld market, which Nintendo is still king to this day...but play on, cause that's is what it's all about.

    Just ordered a PSVita from Japan, I, like most, was a 3DS Person, but I've always been interested in the Vita, and now I finally have money. I think that if they hadn't gone with the expensive proprietary memory cards, the PSVita would've had a very good chance. I got the 2000 model, which has 1GB of internal storage, so I will be able to mod it to use an SD2Vita without worrying about the expensive memory cards.

    True story: I grew up with the OG Gameboy and because that system was such an irritating piece of crap (e.g. you could never see what was going on, it couldn’t handle games in motion, often the games were ghetto versions of console games). I was so turned off of handheld systems I didn’t buy another one until the Switch (and even then, I did that because it was technically a hybrid). But then the pandemic happened and I got really bored. So I started needing projects to keep me occupied (i.e. I wanted to homebrew some stuff). It started with the Wii U, a console that I realized was much better than it got credit for, and moved to the DS, 3DS, and Vita. Boy did I miss out on a lot of handheld exclusive games. Plus, they do an awesome job playing retro games.
    The lesson: The Gameboy was so bad it got in the way of decades of good gaming experiences.

    Let's just say in order to fight piracy, Sony kinda killed it hence the no SD card. It also don't help that PSP was UMD and because of that there was no way for backward compatibility like DS to 3DS. Game were not supported but i kinda blame both sides. Sony and 3rd party themselves.

    One reason that no one talks: PS4 was very sucessful and Wii U was not. Nintendo shifed gears to the 3DS and Sony to the PS4. It makes sense.
    Memory cards did not kill the Vita. The lack of games have. I love the Vita and it's my favorite handheld ever but games were very expensive to develop for. People wanted 3A gaming on the go. This was not financially possible. Handheld games are cheaper and they won't sell millions
