I have only beat 7 and 8 and I will always love 8 more than 7. God did I royally fuck up the final battle though since I just spammed my GFs. I blame myself.

Given how unique FF VIII was for a combat system, if it is to be intact, put in the means to alter your character's levels at an inn, or save point. This is the game that disincentivized leveling.

I'm gonna say, if this game didn't gel with you then you probably won't like the Persona series. It's VERY similar... so similar that I was a bit disappointed. I thought it being a new IP that it would be different but it's almost the same thing, just with a different skin. Mind you I'm only around 10hrs in, so things can change but by your thoughts, I think it's save to assume that it won't change much. I just feel this was an opportunity for Atlus to try something different to their regular formula... and I say this is as someone who LOVED P5 and P4G... but hey I'm still happy to give it a try... who knows, I may eat my words haha. But thanks for your thoughts! It's refreshing to hear someone talk about this game with a little bit of criticism.

Square Enix, do not define anything now, they went from trend setters to trend chasers. They cannot redefine their classics, they can only let the surrounding culture redefine them. The clamour for remakes needs to stop, you are giving them a mandate to keep taking timeless games, and make them timely. That said, to all of you that hate FFVIII, you're beautiful keep doing what you do and keep FFVIII buried. It is my favourite of the series and you are protecting it.

VIII is a waste of time. God that story is awful and Squall is the worst. VI is where it's at! A new generation deserve to see these characters on modern tech!

I kinda would prefer a sequel over a remake. I have a love hate relationship with the junction system. I love how it works, but when I play ff8, I never cast magic. I don't wanna deplete the magic stock I've worked so hard to draw. Instead I rely solely on basic attacks, limit breaks or even items. I wish they would introduce MP and spell memorisation.

I want one unified world that isn't segregated across 4 discs , every time I've replayed it I always forget when disc 2 and 3 were about to end and miss out on things like GFs, magazines, cards, magic junctions or areas that you simply can't go back to :/ .

Ugh. Jansen was insufferable. Especially in english, he was much more toned down in japanese dub, but english text added a lot of dialgues in his mouth, wgere there was none in jap dub. Usually dumb jokes. Gongora is the worst FF (yeah, I treat LO as FF game) villain. So cartoonish, my teeth hurts. But overall it's a good FF game, with fantastic side stories to read.

If anything there should be another change to the gameplay formula provided it hasn't been added already. There should be a hack and slash, beat em up or something that plays similarly to the Devil May Cry series but that's just me

Now of there was a ff game that needed story tweaks, it 8. 7 didn’t really need a remake. It was just to appease fans, which is fine. I love 8, but feel a retelling of it, and fleshing out the relationships a little more would really help

In terms of story excluding X-2 part, FF10 has 1 of best storyline based on 2 main characters while side characters still get involved with enough short stories and discussions. The character and asset development r worth to grind to full for completionists, for example, using the sphere grids, learning skills. The weapons customization is fun w/ random enhancements. The ultimate weapons were right to be difficult to collect w/ side tasks, which I could simply w/ mods in PC replay. Definitely the battle turn based queue and character switch r convenient and a useful system. Well I didn't like Blitzball cuz I didn't proritize to improve to my team and ball playing.

In fact, generally users including me hate the unreasonably much longer loading of VR battles when the stage setting is only same empty VR room. The transformation of the Template of Ancient to more puzzle of exploration that's little long to me is more interesting than the old teleportations to diff rooms; and near the end the flashbacks of pasts for each character r meaningful to further decorate the characters. The unfortunate choice of devs not unleashing the other uniforms seen along the game for use such as those from Loveless play so characters like Barret and Red fairly would get more choices; the current trending game Stellar Blade goes all in to provide assets to customize the character, and even little more DLC payment is acceptable to me.

Definitely need 8. it was very underrated and has so much potential to be fleshed out. My worry is they'll butcher the stories and characters, though. I don't want more multiple timeline/dimensions bs ala 7 remake.

UGH NO. Leave this crap show in the dustbin of history. FFVIII is a garbage game and tied for the worst in the series with XIII and II. This will never happen because this game won't sell

One thing they really should explore more is Seifer. It would be really nice for him to be playable or a story part where we control him, have all his limit breaks, seriously, such a underwhelmed character

Nah, it doesn't need a remake. It's perfect the way it is. FF7 did deserve a remake, not because it's the best but because the story and content were ahead of their time. And then SE butchered the remake's story.

After playing ff7 rebirth, idk. I think it kinda sucked, like it got a lot right but Jesus fucking christ all the filler n cringe moments... graphics aside, it's source material is so much better

Final Fantasy VIII was the first final fantasy game I played and I love it more than the others in the series even though I agree 7 and 10 were great games

I'm only down for a FF8 remake if they allow me to become a god by abusing the junction system with draw/card mod/magic refine mechanics.

hell yeah. it has not to be at scale like in FF7. But it should be a one part release and upgraded. even if they stay turnbased it would be ok as long as theyre improving everywhere. not only graphics but mechanics etc…

Wanna know what would be great? Why not taking the fact that they "lost their childhood memories" and put it into the game mechanics? Re-earning memories you have with another partymember and learnung skills by doing so? would fit greatly into a game like this.

A pure turn based feel would fit well with this one. I don't think an action RPG is needed.

I'll only accept it if they make Laguna the main character as well and make it what Kitase originally envisioned and not the crap we originally got. Also I don't care what anyone else says make RInoa be Ultimecia theory true am I right conspiracy theorists? Tin foil hat on! They could even make it be so in the remake and somehow the curse of that stops with the original game being the final time justifying that cheesy sappy happy ending. If no Kitase original story then integrate that theory of Squall dying from that ice shard into a psychological plot point or do something with it. Just include Laguna as a main character because Squall sucks and is a poser just like Kefka said.

FF7-R is insanely expensive and a it's sold under expectations, FF8 no where near as beloved, we'll never see a remake of VIII like they did with VII

I was never the biggest fan for FFVIII, but I know that a remake for VIII would be great. Riiiiight after we get a FFIX remake first. ;^)

Yea going to have to disagree on FF8 REMAKE. That game was terrible

FF8 is the best in my eyes but they really need to do something about some details in the game to make it better, like the story specially the convenient reveal at the orphanage also rework the gf system besides that add more context and dept to most characters.

Excellent video. We DO need it brother, I agree with you 100% and VIII is my favourite episode. By far. But I honestly believe we will never get it, sadly. My heart bleeds. Cause VIII with nowadays technique and the possibility to expand Laguna’s gameplay sequences and his own arc, that could be extraordinary.

If they did drop a remake to FF8, they need to show more of Ultimecia & Adel. They should also do much more of a deep dive into other side characters.

FF8 is my least favorite FF game… that I’ve played. Many reasons why which you can guess but… I’ve said since playing through the Eden raids in 14 and seeing them that, 8 would’ve fit a Remake several times more than even 7. The music alone showed me this. And when considering FF7R… it is such a better fit…

I haven’t played video games in over 10 years due to growing up etc but I would go out and buy a console just for this if it ever came out
