Who did he draft in his first ever draft? Mo Seider.
Who did he pick the next year after the worst of lottery luck? Lucas Raymond.
Who did he pick the year after that? Simon Edvinsson.
He drafted that core talent while simultaneously getting the books right and constructing a team around that young talent that was 1 point from making the playoffs last year.
And you guys are suggesting if he didn’t have his name he’d be on the hot seat? Next time you all think about talking hockey maybe consider being quiet and bringing on a guest that actually knows something about the game. Detroit listeners deserve better.

Nobody talks about the atlantic division being the hardest in the entire league. And it getting better by the year. No matter who they sign and who they draft playoffs are gonna be hard to make every year.

yeah to bad the Ilitch's are gonna give him 10 years. This isn't about making the playoff once this is about creating another Dynasty. This man gave 22 years to this organization as a player and 4 as a assistant GM. They have won 4 cups with him in the organization. You are out of your mind and a horrible sports analysts if you think after 6 seasons the Illitch's are going to dump him. This team has come so far and in this new Cap era making a dynasty is really difficult. What team compares to the 1983-2010 red wings? ZERO none there isn't a single team that can be compared to them in this day and age.

What people fail to understand is everyone who makes the NHL playoffs is a very good. team. All the other leagues allow mediocre teams to make the playoffs. You need over 90 points to get in the NHL playoffs which means you're a VERY GOOD team. The 1997 Cup winning Wings would've missed the Western Conference playoffs in 2023 because THEY didn't have enough points.
