    Definitely made a smart call buying this unit! Installed this heater 1 year ago. Straight forward install, user friendly and a non-existent maintenance item. Rigged mine on a toggle so it can be turned on before the pump activates. 220 GPH fass, fass XL filters, 12 valve Cummins no heater grid, sitting outdoors cold 2 days and no ether used. Block heater plugged in for 2 1/2 hrs at -17 (wind chill included lol) little to no anti gel in tank. Toggled heater for 5 minutes before attempting to start. Pump was not happy with the thick fuel but gave it a 10 second crank, waited, pegged the skinny pedal on following two cranks for 3 or so seconds and slowly she chugged to life. Fuel pressure normally sits at 49 PSI but was showing about 10 PSI. After 30 minutes of idling fuel was still at 10 or 12 PSI so took it up the road roughly 1/2 mile and the fuel crept up to about 38 PSI with no issues. Long way of saying glad I installed it.

      Happy with heater performance especially running a sump with little or no anti gel feeding a cold grumpy 12 valve. Good to know it'll put up a good fight against old man winter and keep me rollin'. Coal too lol

    Can you mount the filter housing in the truck bed without problems?

    I just ordered one of these and was wondering what people do more often. Do they wire it to a switch or just use a key on relay? And which one seemed to work better?

      Hey Jochum, thank you for reaching out! Great question man, and personally I like the switch. It gives you the freedom in the summer just to keep it off and in the winter you can turn it on anytime to start thawing out fuel.
      Both ways work great though and it really just depends on what you are most comfortable with. If you have any other questions you are more than welcome to reach out to our service team as well at 636-433-5410. Thank you!

      Switched mine to help thaw any thick fuel at the filter during upset conditions before running the pump. I felt it would ease the strain on the pump a little and might save some batt juice by thawing a little fuel before trying to crank. Normally I keep antigel in the tank to help which I recommend. Mounted my toggle in a highly visible spot with an led on light so I don't leave it on and run the batts down. The more the heater runs after starting the better it gets.

    Can I tap into a fuse that’s already being used for my fass pump?

      Appreciate you asking and we actually will have you tap into another fuse since they both draw so many amps.

    Your liftpump with this heater is a nice kit. Before I purchase, does FASS have a way to signal the driver when the heater is actually turned on? do you have a chart or graph that shows fuel temp vs wattage consumed or whatever it uses to trigger heating? (how does the logic work for heat applied vs. sensed temperature? or is it simple full heat on until fuel is +33F, then off?) I suppose an LED could be triggered for heater-on state, but more details would be valuable here.

      @FASSFuelSystems  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, and we appreciate you reaching out! The heating element will turn on once the temp hits freezing, and then turn back off once the fuel has heated past 60 degrees.
      If you have any other questions about this you are more than welcome to reach out to us anytime at 636-433-5410. Thank you!

      I put a temp sensor in the pump block that feeds my Edge CTS3. I see fuel temp at pump at all times or if the heater is working

      @@mrmotofy where did you get this sensor ???

    • @mrmotofy
      @mrmotofy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scaleytail Just a temp sensor for whatever gauge you're running. I use the Edge CTS3 with EAS, so need the a temp sensor for it. Otherwise any universal temp gauge should work

    Can this be used on an AFE DFS780 and can it be wired dual purpose? In other words could this be wired to a switch that is ignition operated so that the switch could be left on during the winter and let it run when the key is turned over but still allow it to be switched off during the summer when it is not needed? Hopefully that makes sense.

    How many amps does the heater use?

    • @FASSFuelSystems
      @FASSFuelSystems  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The disk will jump to about 30 amps when it first comes on and then slowly drop as it warms up

      @rob snodgrass NO not even close. Water heater has a couple of 3000w elements. This heater has like 300w
