  • This might be the first time I'm doing a video on a CinemaSins video for a movie that I don't absolutely love. I think Scooby-Doo is just ok. Very enjoyable, but very flawed. And CinemaSins didn't do a good job finding those flaws.
Disclaimer: I don't have much ill will towards CinemaSins, I just want to point out the many mistakes they've made in their videos.

Ironically, Sarah Michelle Gellar wasn't in the Buffy movie. She was only in the TV series.

    Missed SinSins:
2:47 The point of the breakup at the beginning is literally one of the driving plots of the movie. It's about the team coming together again and addressing and overcoming the flaws that drove them apart. And there already is an actual obligated falling out scene towards the end later when Scooby and Shaggy have heir fight.
3:46 Scooby literally gets discovered later on the plane when he chases the cat and goes full dog mode. And considering Scrabby needed Scooby, he likely gave the flight crew instructions to allow Scooby on the plane that comes and goes to his island, maybe even had some creatures possessing the crew.
5:00 The teens are very clearly chanting the same thing as the stage dancers. Velma may find that strange, but for all she knows, they could be a bunch of emo teens who saw the show already and so know the chant. She's going to look into it, yes, but it's not anything to raise an alarm about yet.
5:35 It's called the main power switch.
6:11 Why do you think the attraction was shut down? Because it's a safety hazard.
6:19 How is it racist for Fred not to notice the little person because he was being smashed through the glass? Race had no factor here. If you're referring to his size, then that would be sizeist, not racist, but again, not seeing someone is not a form of prejudice.
9:15 The REAL Sin here is that Fred sounds like Fred when he's in Daphne's body. Your voice is produced by your vocal chords, so he should sound like Daphne even if his soul is in her body.

Also, when Jeremy mentions the fight with Scooby and Chaggy he forgot one detail, Scooby was trying to protect Chaggy because Mary Jane was a monster in disguise, the fight only started because Chaggy was blinded by love to see that his friend was just protecting him, and Scooby felt left behind because he spent more time with her than with him, so it was a mix of jealousy and his protective instincts! but of course, Jeremy didn't pay attention to that detail!

2:30 They probably freaked out and questioned before but at some point later gave up the investigation into Scooby
They probably have a file of Scooby in a drawer that says Cold Cases

I’m still patiently waiting for Luke to do my request for this movie. But he did also cover the Ratchet and Clank movie so I’m okay

I constantly want to do this to their videos. They really just stopped putting effort in. If every movie's criticism is the same length then it's not deserved. Only thing I'd say is speed up your voice a little like they do. I bet Scooby Doo can read better than Velma.

Please don’t talk fast. It’s jarring, cinemasins doesn’t even talk as fast as they used to. It feels more down to earth and less obnoxious when talking at a normal pace

You should correct the sins they made against the Potion scene in the second movie! That scene is sinless!

What was wrong with Nostalgia Critic’s review of this film?

I knew you would do this one day. Great video!
Also, what are your thoughts on this movie? I thought it was pretty good with the good acting and subtle humor, but man, those visual effects were almost as bad as the visual effects in Jumanji.

I have some nostalgia for this, so that's probably part of it. It's very enjoyable, especially knowing that James Gunn wrote the script. I recently re-watched it, and it definitely has issues. Knowing that this was cut down from an r-rated film, it makes it all the more obvious, since the movie does feel cut down, and the kid's humor feels forced in. And like you said, the visual effects have not aged well. I also just overall prefer the second movie (yes, I'll get to that later), but I still had fun watching this one

      @talonthehedgehog3274 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Great statement. And yeah, we probably would’ve seen more in the r-rated cut, but the studio was like NOPE. It’s not what James Gunn and the rest of the filmmakers wanted to do, but they couldn’t really do anything about it and it was probably best to change it entirely because Scooby-Doo is a icon made for children.

Not that I agree with Nostalgia Critic's review (I haven't seen it myself), But why don't you like it? I'm just wondering.

It has the same problems a lot of NC videos have, with unfunny skits that just pad the runtime, he never mentions Matthew Lillard's performance being good, and he just seemed a little too focused on comparing it to the cartoon, and even made a claim at the end that it's so bad, whether or not you've seen the cartoon or not, you can't enjoy it, which is a BS claim, since I've watched this movie for years, and enjoyed it.

I literally said "what, not every catchphrase needs to come from Th3Birdman." I know Jay Exci says that, calm down.
