Everything Wrong With CinemaSins: How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
Maybe this is a hot take, but as good as 2 was, I personally prefer Hidden World. That ending is one of the most heart wrenching things I have ever seen. And I have now finally finished the Trilogy with this video, and was then shocked to see I made it 22 minutes long. Oh well, you guys don't mind, right?

This. I like this. Another! Also, I used to watch Birdman all the time but lately he seems to go out of his way to engagement bait his audience (with random, unrelated religious or political statements) and it has gotten so obnoxious that I don't even watch if there is a high likelihood that he will make those "observations" Because especially when it comes to Christianity, he just makes the most juvenile swipes then when challenged he just acts like a jerk. Like if you want to have a meaningful discussion, cool, but just stirring the pot then when someone tries to be genuine it is "just a prank, bro" That's lame.

Something I never understood even after watching the movie: what is the sadness' purpose, as an emotion? I can get that joy is good for you, and anger, fear and disgust protect you: they are a sign that the conditions around you are no good, and push you to change it - either you get angry and fight, or get scared/disgusted and run away. But sadness? It only makes you sit and mop and pity yourself, it does nothing to actually improve the situation you're in. In the end of the movie it just shows that... sadness was before joy in that one memory? Without sadness you can't feel joy? I think that this message being spread in many media is not true, since happy hormones are released independent of whether we've been unhappy before. So the only message I feel like possible is that "negative emotions are useless, but they exist, and we can't do anything about it, except not shut them out to not make tension worse". Also that was a great metaphor when Sadness touched the happy memories and they became sad because Riley was sad that it was all in the past now. Unfortunately, the second movie introduced Nostalgia as the separate emotion, and I think it was a mindless running gag since Joy/Sadness interacting to create the effect of nostalgia was more clever in my opinion

Lost all credibility right off the bat with your first sin. You're exasperated by trying to come up with new phraseology about the logo sins. Imagine how Jeremy feels trying to expound the hundreds and possibly thousands of horrid films that bloat their runtime with these self-congratulatory, self-masturbatory, cynical insults to the very people paying their salaries. These cretinous rejects from the human species deserve far more than a single sin. It should be a sin-per-second for every audience member watching every version in theaters, on DVD, and streaming. Now, we're talking about hundreds of millions of sins per film.

Missed SinSins 3:30 Then he would have splashed harmlessly in the water and his dragon would have recovered him. 3:52 Dragons are highly intelligent creatures, and while its unlikely they understand the full human language, certain words and commands are understood, just like with dogs. And even though animals IRL can't comprehend human speech, how many people still talk to their pets as if they can? Also, it's unlikely that the characters are speaking English; we as the audience are just hearing it as such so we're not stuck reading subtitles. This is a fairly common movie tactic. 5:30 Dragons are highly skilled hunters, do you really think they're not being used to help hunt? Meat is probably VERY easy to come by. 7:52 Hiccup has 2 sets of grandparents. Once set could have come from outside of Berk and migrated there later while the other set was part of the 7 generation that had been there. In fact, this could be where Hiccup's mom got her idea that humans and dragon can co-exist philosophy if she was from the migrating side of Hiccup's grandparents. 9:50 No, Lightfury absolutely sounds better than Brightfury. 11:08 This is Eret's way of letting both the audience and Hiccup know how much of a threat Grimmel is. 11:48 Nightfuries and Lightfuries are subspecies of the same type of dragon that are compatible enough to breed, kind of like a lion and a tiger or a wolf and dog or a donkey and a horse. See, separate species but still closely related. Lightfuries are not female Nightfuries. 13:08 Actually, the movie Thor Ragnorak was based on a comic that came out in 2004, and this movie came out in 2019. So it doesn't matter if this movie was made before Thor Ragnorak or vice versa because the comic came out first. But according to Jeremy, the books don't matter... except for when they do. 14:10 Grimmel likes talking down to others, that's the point of his explanation, he just got annoyed when they still weren't getting it after he spelled it out for them, which ruined his fun. 14:40 Jeremy reveals he never watched the canon TV series and Sins characterization for answers that were out there but he didn't bother to look into. 15:22 Jeremy makes fun of the disabled. That's disablist. 15:47 Jeremy calls HTTYD a family movie after having called it a kids movie before. There's a clear distinction. Kid movies are specifically made for kids to enjoy, family movies are made for all ages to enjoy, including adults. So which is it? I'll tell you: family movie. 16:09 His mother is clearly holding onto her staff, which is hooked onto her dragon, that's why she didn't fall. 17:57 It was explicitly stated that Grimmel enjoys the hunt. So even if he could have captured Toothless this easily, he was clearly dragging things out. 18:40 It was obviously a very low dosage, just enough to render Toothless immobile so he could order him to order the other dragons to obey him. He can't exactly get Toothless to do that if he's asleep. 18:56 Hiccup trusts Astrid and she knows and understands him better than anyone, sometimes better than he knows himself, and she at times acts as his voice of reason and motivation (again, seen in more detail in the TV series). So yes, if Hiccup was going to listen to anyone or if anyone could get him out of his funk, it would be Astrid. 21:03 Grimmel is intentionally ripping Hiccup's flight suit so Hiccup can't save himself so they'll both go down. 21:45 This movie had an ending and a time-skip epilogue, LOTR3 had at least 5 fake-out endings. Also, Jeremy makes arbitrary movie reference. 21:55 We've seen in every HTTYD movie that dragons, even wild or former enemy ones, are peaceful creatures that are primarily friendly and won't attack unless provoked. Even if Toothless is no longer tame or has forgotten Hiccup completely, that fact hasn't changed.

In the books, most dragons are capable of understanding Norse thanks to their encounters with Vikings but only two dragons have mastered speaking it themselves. And canonically, the books are written by Hiccup but translated from Norse to English by Cressida Cowell (the real life author) such that the language the Vikings are speaking is Norse.

On that eel pock thing: if you have to look it up, the movie isn't doing its job. That could've been explained in this movie or explained in the sequels. Ok, but at least it's not a major plot point. Before I knew it was eel pox, I always assumed dragons simply don't like the taste of eels, and that's a fine assumption to have. If an audience member really wants to know, they can Google it, but it's not required to understand the movie. It's not like Rise of Skywalker, where Palpatine coming back is a MAJOR plot point that should've been elaborated on

@@Cityofember313 I would say that the books did a better job setting up Hiccup sending the dragons away than the movies did given the first book tells us that Hiccup’s writing his memoir to let us know about the time where there were dragons. Because of that, we the audience know from the beginning that the dragons aren’t there for the long haul

Wanted to point out he seems to either sin any kind of romance (see his Princess and the Frog video) or, if it's romance between two different kinds of creatures, asking how sex between them would work.

Sinning a character for being stupid when that's part of their charm? That's like sinning Starscream for betraying Autobots and Deceptions when that's part of his charm. Plus he's a villain, I expect villains to betray each other eventually.

*_Sin 19_* Goldeneye had a scene with James & Alec in the shadows with only their eyes lit. Granted Alec is revealed later to be the villain, you really feel like: "Oh, snap! James is gonna have a partner? Let's do it!" *_Sin 20; Drago (Cyrillic: Драго) is a Bulgarian, Serbian, Slovene, Croatian male given name, usually short for the other names with the root drag- (lit. a "dear one"), such as Dragan, Dragutin, etc. The feminine version is Draga._*

It's been a while since I watched this movie but I feel like if her family had decided to move back to Minnesota, it wouldn't have magically brought Joy back bc she'd probably be upset that they went to all the trouble of moving across the country just to go all the way back. I mean, if you're trying to be happy about it but the closest thing you have to joy is anger, then you'd probably be like "finally you got some sense snapped into you!" which would be a normal response for an 11yo to have I think. She's not gonna suddenly flip back to being happy (thus magically teleporting Joy back to HQ) just bc her parents decided to solve the problem they created for her

I know I attended the live stream last week, but there are two other things I’d like to say: 1. When I joined the live stream, I also was wearing a grey polo shirt (only mine doesn’t have stripes). 2. To follow up on your answer to the collaboration question, I’d definitely be down for collaborating with you sometime because I think that’d be pretty fun.

And then I see CinemaWins pop up and the title says it’s gonna tell me awesome things about my favorite movies but then I have that sad realization that it’s the same guy as CinemaSins and now I don’t want to watch that video telling me awesome things about my favorite movies.

Missed SinSins 4:07 No, that's false accusation, he's falsely placing the blame on someone else, racism has nothing to do with it. Plus, most of the humans here think Narnians either don't exists or are long gone (hence why they were laughing), so you can't exactly be racist towards a non-existent race. He's placing the blame on a potential threat to his power, it has nothing to do with racism. 4:47 Jeremey sings in a video cliche. 9:36 The Narnia books, and therefore Aslan, are not Disney, Disney merely adapted the story, so this comes from a source unrelated to Disney. 15:31 Actually, Caspian and the Pevensie children were aged up in the movies to match the ages of the actors. The director actually said that Susan was supposed to be 17-18 in this movie. That aside, Susan gave Caspian and Peter a look of disappointment here for them allowing themselves to be tempted into resurrecting the White Witch. And did you seriously make Peter agree that his sister is hot? His SISTER? 17:42 I don't recall any water spirits even appearing in Antz, let alone attacking anyone. And while I didn't see the second movie Jeremy mentioned, I doubt there was a water spirit in that movie too. 18:16 Since the characters were aged up in the movie from the books, their older ages were incorporated into their characters' behavior, and part of that incorporation was the reason for the Susan/Caspian romance. And while there were those who found their romance weird, there were also lots of people who shipped them, and this actually became the most popular ship of the series to date. If their kiss came across as awkward, that's because both actors admitted to feeling awkward doing this scene. The REAL Sin, however, is that this romance was put in the movie and then it doesn't go anywhere afterwards since this was Susan's last time in Narnia. 18:32 There is only a single ending for this movie and no fake-endings like what LOTR did.
