Huh. This was actually a well-made Portal-like puzzle game. It has momentum based mechanics that feels good to execute and brings a sense of mastery. It has a good amount of complexity while keeping the core concepts simple. It has a puzzle boss fight that is challenging enough to make you think on your toes but isn't actually being unfair. Most importantly, it doesn't overstay its welcome, just like the original Portal.
Spoiler warning: Intended solution for puzzle at 19:00 The actual solution is really elegant was one of my top 3 puzzles when I played this... the intended way was to let the ball get speed, then use the fact that the surroundings of both of the pits make a half pipe. You can take the cube to one of the sides in the first room and swap while once the ball gets speed. it will keep its momentum forward and roll down the halfpipe around the first pit, cross between the two pits, then curve around the second pitt like an S. You don't have to do anything in the second room all together as it will go right to the end
It was a pleasure to watch your playthrough of our game! Very entertaining editing - and we loved your imitations of Tobla's voice overs 🤣 Also, the headbutt cheese was a very creative solution that we haven't seen anyone use before. Really great stuff!
Being annoyed about it just makes it worse in our opinion. You try to fix the unintended solution, then other solutions become possible... it's a never ending cycle 😄 Best to accept it as part of the game and embrace the creativity of the cheese, as long as it doesn't break anything 🧀
"Oh look, an endless stellar abyss. Can I hurl myself into it?" Have you been playing Destiny, Tyler? These kinds of thoughts seem an awful lot like those of a Guardian...
@@kannaharuka I feel like sufficient digging through previous content could find him commenting on how tasty both crayons and ink look. I suppose you could interpret respawning as either being an unintended result of being given the shard or that she's putting mortal after mortal through the puzzles, and when you respawn you're just a new Mort(al) who made it to that point.
I know a lot of people acknowledge the similarity between this game's style and The Witness, but I particularly think it's a mixture of both The witness and Viewfinder. Anyways, good vid! I wish we could hear the monologue though
little late to watching this but theres a hidden button in the transition area clearly visible at 22:55 that with the cubes avaible you most likely can get to
In the hub, it looks like there is a button at the top right of your screen. If you look at like 10:10 I think you probably need to use the blocks to build a tower/staircase to the top right of the hub. Looks like a little nook. Either that, or there is something that lets you get up there in the hub. Edit: Never played this game before, just good at noticing/looking for secrets.
That simply wouldn't be on brand for how Tyler almost never enjoys narration or dialogue in puzzle games, even though I think he relatively enjoyed the narration here
It was alright at the start and then the puzzles became too dependant on timing. I'm not gonna restart the puzzle over and over because I don't aim and move quick anough.
It looked like you could stack the cubes in the space room to make a staircase up to the funny arch in the upside down staircase on the wall. Not sure what’s there.
I noticed a hidden button in the in between levels area. It looked like you were supposed to use the boxes around the room to build a staircase up to it. I wonder what that button does...
Seeing the puzzle in the eye room immediately and not knowing if it exists yet is absolutely killing me. You got the blocks so it's definitely a puzzle but does Tyler do it?
I feel like Tobla's humour and emotionality actually made her talking interesting enough for Tyler to at least somewhat enjoy, which is a rare thing with narration in puzzle games for him. That, combined with the generally non-serious nature of the game *and* actually good puzzles was what I think let him enjoy it this much. And it's not like Tyler doesn't enjoy cheesing puzzles sometimes when mechanics allow it, so that was quite expected
The whole game is very Portal-inspired, but that's one of the main things that make it great - it takes some of Portal's ideas of momentum preservation and somewhat timing-based puzzles and makes something new and interesting of it
Yo! If you like the vibe of this game, I'd suggest Pneuma: Breath of Life. It's an old puzzle game which focuses mostly on using your camera to solve puzzles, and it IS a little confusing at times but I have good memories of it

Damn that was a solid puzzle indeed.

It's much more similar to Portal in every little thing, except artstyle.
