WHO WANTS TO SEE DANIE AND I DO MORE ONE DAY BUDDY BUILDS!? 🙋 ALSO. Don't forget to check out the SECOND one day build that Danie and I made on her channel here!: th-cam.com/video/6zAnyW8YIr4/w-d-xo.html
Had to watch this build and the coffee table back to back. You two look like you are having so much fun together every time. The table looks awesome, but it's even better to know it's just going to be vibing with positive friendship energy and nobody who enters that back yard will be immune. That table is now magically infused with irrepressible fun.
Sam it's great to see you smile and hang out with a friend. In these crazy times seeing you smile makes me smile! BTW, I cannot describe to you how your advice on MAS Tabletop epoxy changed my woodworking life. I now use dyes with it and experiment with it and it allows me to add so much character to projects. Big knots are now a playground for art. The more I use this amazing epoxy, the more I'm addicted to it for every build finding some reason to use it. You opened up so many doors for me on projects. So THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I've been planning of making our indoor dining table for our first house. I thought I could do it before, but to see this, I know now I can do it!! Thanks both for the inspiration!!
Hi Sam, I love seeing the two of you together, I want to steel you and keep you in Canada...Beautiful build, I love it, you made it look so easy, I agree working with a buddy is priceless....Take care...
Great watching this. My husband built me a picnic table with crossed legs in 1988 and we are still using it. We lived in California and were able to use redwood so it is very durable though the legs are on their last legs. If you build with integrity and the best material you can afford it really does pay off. This video has inspired me to have my husband remove the x legs and rebuild with straight legs. It'll be fun to see if it lasts another 30 years! I love the tees. I'm definitely the buddy and my husband is definitely the build!
Really nice, Sam. I almost think you two are dangerous being together (lol). In reality, it's great to see the two of you having so much fun. That's what DIY is all about, right? Bill
LOVE the Sam and Danie show!! Seriously though, you're just SO much fun to watch together, but you're also both SO GOOD. Y'all make AMAZING stuff. And the new merch is adorable!
Not only did you make two great pieces of furniture in two days, you made it fun! What a gift to Danie you gave her. That could have been a dreary, long effort on her own. Both tables looks beautiful!
Headed over from DIY Danie. Love you two together ! I’m super excited to check out your channel . That table and coffee table were beautiful! I don’t think there was any price breakdown , I’m curious how much it costs to make such a large table. I think everyone would like one. Just beautiful.
It's so fun watching you work together, you girls are an amazing creative team, as always, what a beautiful build, I love that table and I was inspired to build one for the back terrace my husband and I are constructing 🤗🤗🤗🥰
I love you both so much it’s thanks to danie that I am one of your fans for a year now and it’s sooo funny how danie looks like a giant next to you ( I am short too and my bff is very tall)
Came here from Danie's channel! Love your build! I want to make this table when I buy a new home. I just love it. And I love love love your comment on finding friends who just get you. I feel like I'd be friends with y'all in real life. :)
you two are my favorite, i love seeing you film together. if you did this table and just stopped once the frame was attached to the top, and didnt do the extra decorative/structural farmhouse base, would it still be really stable? i love the easy design but my house is not very farmhouse so i dont want to add those extra pieces.
If I could wave a magic wand, I would only change one thing - I would move the legs somehow so that you could have three chairs on each side without bumping your knees into the table legs... Nice job!
so it looks like the top is made from 5 2x8 for a final dimension of 36.25" ? Did you experience any shrinkage on the width of the boards ? i'm considering using z-clip to attach the top to prevent this
How has the table held up in the last year? Pocket screws have worked out okay for me in the past with smaller tables, such as coffee tables, but a table this size would generally need dowels or dominos in addition to wood glue. It's also important to clamp the top for a period of at least 24 hours. I would think this would split apart being the table top pieces aren't actually connected to each other. As the wood contracts or expands, it will split apart. 4X4 legs also tend to split, it's recommended that you laminate a couple of 2X4's together to prevent splitting. This isn't meant to be bashing, I actually built my first table years ago fairly similarly to this. Within a month there were big gaps on the table top because the wood boards were not actually joined together. As far as the legs go, I used 4X4 legs for a work bench that cracked due to the pressure and not having any place to expand or contract. a couple of 2X4's laminated together allow some wiggle room for expansion and contraction.
If the wood has acclimated to local temperature and humidity, and neither of those change much throughout the year, the wood will be stable. See also the comment about cupping. The other way to make the wood (more) stable is to coat all wood surfaces, especially board ends, with an impervious sealer.
You too go together like red beans and rice, bacon and eggs...toasted grill cheese...I can go on and on.......lol.... but yes seriously that is a very nice outdoor table, and yes when you have a (( buddy )) that knows what they need to do,the build is done and Sam is on her plane going home..😥

Table looks beautiful! What stain did you use??

Yayayayayyya!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love it, how much was the total for this built? Thanks
Salut Bon dimanche bonne soirée
Im a new builder and am wondering if you planed the boards first before making pocket holes
I searched the comments but didn’t see anybody ask… What stain did you use on this project?
Answered most, but yours and so they probably don’t know or remember.
The can looks like Behr Premium stain (makes sense - it’s stain + water proofing), in Cedar. Home Depot stocks the line of ‘em

How do you waterproof the table so you can put food/drink on it without staining?
You can use an outdoor teak oil or a clear coat!
I'm so curious about the total materials cost. Would y'all mind sharing it?
Man makes me want to give it a go so bad, I’ve never built anything before 😂😂
You can do it!
😍😍😍😍
🥰
Do you have the table plans to offer ? Thx!
Just 2 sheets of thick plywood, a car shock absorber, brackets/screws is all you need, DIY.
Awwwww
How many 2x4x8 ceder wood and 4x4x8 did you use for this!?!
Can you put measurements also?!
I actually have printable plans available on my website with all of that info! 😊
