    Your the only yt'er I've found who actually has useful knowledge of this game. Such a gem of a channel!

      saris also has a few pretty good videos on technical subjects on cosmoteer, you should check his videos out (pretty small channel)

      0neye and Saris are the other guys I suggest watching to get good, 0neye doesn't really upload much tho.

      Check Saris, I advice. He is an official engineer (Makes built-in ships for the game) and thus knows almost everything about how the game mechanics work. He has several videos on important yet little talked about topics like Fanning, the way ions work, doors and so on. 0Neye's one video about power logistics is great as well.

    Another tip. You can use one moving walkway to deliver crew to shields or reactors to speed up response time while hiding the crew quarters. They take forever to get back to the bunk, but if a new request comes in the zip right to the job. 2nd tip, should be using doors to only draw power for shields from the corner of a reactor. This cuts the walking distance in the reactor down to 1-tile.

  • @arleamon1
    @arleamon1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I think you are cutting your videos a little too short. Just let go for 1-2 seconds more so that your last words are not cut.
    Other than that great videos. Keep them coming.

    I've got a question regarding crew compartmentalization. I know you mentioned if a ship has separate rooms it'll be fine if one part is destroyed, though if that's the case why would one not want all of their ships to be split like so? Is the separation of rooms generally better overall rather than everything being connected? Or is it only better specifically for bigger ships?

    • @T.efpunkt
      @T.efpunkt ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I believe it depends mostly on the purpose of your ship. Haulers and mining ships don't need compartmentalization, in fakt it might make them less efficient because you have to connect the parts of your ship with air locks, which might lead to crew loss during travel. I believe it makes most sense to keep parts of your ship seperate when it's main task is fighting, and even then i tend to only do this in the front of my ships were they are most vulnurable.

    • @thatonekmc
      @thatonekmc  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Compartmentalization is not needed anymore because of crew management, but I still like to use it to make it much easier to control damage taken, like how when I blew up the reactor everything else was fine. No fires spreading. It can also be much easier to build. But in career with storages and everything it can be better to not have this.

    • @savagecabbagedank3771
      @savagecabbagedank3771 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thatonekmc @T!EFPUNKT So it seems the consensus is it grants defensive capability as well as being better against fires. It's easier to manage if you don't want to mess with crew management, and the only time you would want everything to be connected is for haulers and mining ships. Overall great for combat ships, and generally worse for non combat ships.

    • @Ben-li9zb
      @Ben-li9zb ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally as far as I can tell, its more expensive and less volume efficient to do this, and with the increased size it also becomes harder to defend, which is economically costly in game even if survivability is higher

    • @savagecabbagedank3771
      @savagecabbagedank3771 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ben-li9zb That's true, you could also note that it noticeably increases weight thereby decreasing speed.

    I did some DPS tests on big shields a few weeks ago. Kept firing more Ions at them, watched what failed first, then tried to fix the problems. Found some interesting limits. Like a large reactor should be able power enough shields to tank 33,000dps, but building a shield array to actually tank 33Kdps is not easy.

    I have a question about my crew, I have some crew assigned to supply the shields, but they want to go halfway across the ship to get that energy from a small reactor then come back to supply instead of going to the large reactor close to them and going to the shields to supply them. If there is a reason as to why, what should I do because it takes them forever to resupply the shields.

    • @thatonekmc
      @thatonekmc  ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be that your large reactor has assignments, which means non assigned parts won't be served. Just go and assign your large reactor to the shields. Just keep in mine that if you assign the large reactor to even just one shield you need to make sure it is assigned to all the parts it is supposed to supply.

    I wouldn't call this advanced. You don't get the advanced level until you are managing airlock to airlock crew transport during battle on 8mil credit spinner. Pro tip, put an airlock dead center. Also, do you know when we will be getting prisms for the railguns?

    • @martylawson1638
      @martylawson1638 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not needed. Set the railguns to only fire at a selected target, then rotate the firing line(s) past the target. Watch in glee as 2-10+ railgun shells converge on a single spot. (the is called "rail fanning")
