    Bought our new family member the Food processor Kenwood FDM786 for an affordable price, even if it's a little budget to put aside (169€ in Belgium), but it has all functions we need because it's MultiPro. We're so thankful that nowadays we have an access to those machines to ease life and to save time !

    Hi Sadia and Robin. I use my instant pot weekly. I use its pressure cooking ability to cook beans, lentils, brown rice and oat groats in large quantities and then freeze smaller quantities for quick meal preparations. This is especially useful during the summer months where the heat here in southern Oregon is often above 90 and I try to minimize cooking.

    I just bought a Ninja system from Costco that includes a big blender, food processor, and 2 of the travel-sized blenders she showed in this video and they all work on the same base! Cheaper than a Vitamix and more powerful than we will ever need. I think it's less wasteful like that than having a different base for every appliance. Now if only a stand mixer was also included, that would be perfection lol.
    This is an old video so I doubt Sadia will see this but I'd love to know why you don't have a stand mixer. They're so expensive but so many baking recipes call for it, I would really like to know what you do when a recipe tells you to use a stand mixer

    • @monkiram
      @monkiram 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ryan van der veer We're very happy with it, I can't think of any issues. The pitchers are plastic, but so are the Vitamix ones, so maybe that's better for a reason I'm not aware of? lol

  • @marley7659

    I used to say I love my vitamix. Now I know it is my instant pot and food processor I love the most. I can get out the julliene blade for the food processor and make potato shreds and then freeze them for later use. I can have a cheap source of hashbrowns ready to go if I want them. Also I can make veggie burgers, gluten free desserts, and the list goes on. The instant pot helps me cook dried beans and grains to perfection. Just as good as canned beans but cheaper and creating less waste.

It was used once - by my cat trying to get into the kitchen window. He stepped on the power button, I guess, and I have no idea how long it had been running.😆I have this food processor’s little sister, as well. Bought it to make cat food for my last cat. Didn’t go well. Hey, I tried.😊

    Immersion blender.. for smoothies with a large jar and soups in the colder seasons - two staples - stick blenders are so affordable, minimal and very very easy to clean up. Also, maybe a potato masher and pestle and mortar. I like the idea of having as few appliances as possible so use those for making dips/houmous, bean burgers, pesto and the like.. It seems nice to abstain from electricity sometimes!

But there are other ways to use it as well. I just haven't done anything else. I got that one because it took me forever to make smoothies in a regular blender. I had to use a large spoon to push things down. I still have the blender just in case I need it again.

    I have been looking at the vitamix blender and I need a new food processor so I will be getting the magimix food processor, I have it in my amazon basket. A good blender and food processor are a must! I already have le creuset casserole dishes. Thank you for your tips!

    Blender! I can’t live without my daily smoothies. But I would love more space to accommodate more gadgets, specifically a food processor.

    I agree with everything that you listed. But at the end of the day, I think the appliance I don't want to do without is my Instant Pot. It's really invaluable in my day to day cooking and incredibly versatile as well. Once you have one, you just can't go back to cooking legumes, grains, seitan, tempeh, vegetables and so many other things the traditional way. It saves up enormous amount of hands-on time and is super cost efficient when it comes to energy consumption. An Instant Pot and a great immersion blender with mini food procesor (Bamix is the best of the best IMO, it's the Vitamix of immersion blenders) are really all you need in terms of appliances to start preparing great homecooked meals.
    I won't lie though, I do love my Magimix. I have the Cook Expert so it has the exact same food processor you have + a thermo metal bowl in which you can cook, knead dough or beat aquafaba. Super pricey but I don't regret my investment

    As a baker, I love my stand mixer. But for versatility, I love my Ninja Blender/food processor combo. It’s really powerful, but its. drawback is that it is really loud.

  • @slowphiechen
    @slowphiechen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm a bit confused, so maybe someone here can help me: Why can't you use a food processor for liquid things? It seems to me like it works the exact same way as a blender, but is just more powerful - so if I were to get just one appliance, wouldn't the food processor also do the job? 🤔

    Hi Sadia! Such an inspiration you are ! Much love . There is a cooking utensil called pressure cooker we normally use in India to cook our rice and lentils and curries to even deserts. Minimizes oil usage and cooking time.

      Here you go...
      Caramel Custard
      (in 5 Litre pressure cooker)
      Serves: 6
      Pressure Cooking Time 10 minutes

      ¾ cup / 150 g sugar
      1 ¼ cups / 300 ml water
      2 cups / 480 ml milk
      3 eggs
      ½ tsp / 2.5 ml vanilla extract
      Method
      1 To make the caramel: In a small, heavy saucepan, combine ½ cup/100 g sugar and ¼ cup/60 ml water. Place pan on low heat and stir till sugar is completely dissolved. After all the sugar is dissolved, increase heat to medium-high. Bring to boil and continue cooking till the syrup turns a deep golden colour. Remove pan from heat. Wearing oven mitts, pour the caramel in a 1 quart /1-litre mould and tip and turn the mould to coat evenly bottom and sides.
      Allow the caramel to cool. (If you do not have a mould you can use any flat vessel the only thing is it will not be pretty).
      2 Boil milk and allow to cool slightly.
      3 In a bowl, beat eggs lightly to mix yolks and whites. Add vanilla and remaining sugar (¼ cup/60 ml). Stir. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly.
      4 Pour milk mixture through a strainer in the caramel-coated mould. Cover mould tightly with aluminium foil.
      5 Pour remaining water (1 cup/240 ml) in cooker. Place grid in cooker. Place mould on the grid.
      6 Close cooker. Bring to full pressure on high heat. Reduce heat and cook 10 minutes.
      7 Remove cooker from heat. Allow cooling naturally.
      8 Open cooker. Take out and uncover mould. (Custard will continue to set as it cools). Allow cooling to room temperature. Refrigerate.
      9 Place a serving dish (large enough to accommodate caramel sauce) on top of the mould and invert. Shake gently to release. Remove mould. Serve cold. ENJOY 🍮

    Vitamix would be my top one. Not just for the things you mentioned, but also for chopping. It makes salsa in seconds, just put everything in (tomatoes first) and chop on 4, don’t overdo so it’s liquid. For canning salsa it’s priceless.

    Can you do a video on cheaper health options?
    Fresh produce is generally pretty expensive, especially when compared to more junky foods that are more convenient and cheap, but not exactly healthy.

    • @chelseagallant89
      @chelseagallant89 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe frozen fruits or vegetables? And is produce really that much more expensive when looking at nutrient content? Dried beans and lentils are usually also very cheap.
