When my twin sister and I were pretty young, daddy would take us fishing at a creek in Bloomfield, Kentucky. Lots of bluegill and bass. I remember being cold and daddy building a good warm fire. Seeing the peaceful expression on his face was mesmerizing. The glow of the light from the fire, and the smells from the water, grass, and coffee was so wonderful. That is what started my absolute love of the outdoors. I’m 63 and still love camping, campfires, cooking on the fire. I love the peace and quiet!
For anyone thinking about this tent and out off by this review. I bit the bullet and got one anyway. And it was performed perfectly. It's been up for about 2 weeks straight outside through all weather conditions and I've not had any problems or leaks whatsoever.
Grew up on a farm and rode horses and went to the lake and river all the time I think how the cowboys especially lived with just their horses and saddle and saddle bags was my inspiration for adventures outside :)
My passion for hiking came when I was a Youngster. My family is one of the largest free range, grass-fed, cattle producers in Washington State. So we used to build and fix a lot of fence. I found out really early that I didn't like horses at all. So I would hike fence line with what I needed to do the initial fix if I could and if I couldn't I would tell my cousin's where everything was at. I was hiking five or six miles in a day with 30 or 40 pounds or gear as a twelve-year-old kid. And that spurned my love of hiking. After I got older I would do overnights out in the field fixing fence by myself at like 15 16 years old in the middle of nowhere in South Central Washington state. In the foothills of the Cascades. I have hiked Hundreds and hundreds of miles in those mountains. And I love hiking to this day. I am 45 years old. So basically my dislike of horses is what gave me the love of hiking. So many awesome trips by myself in the middle of nowhere scared to death cuz of coyotes, wolves, and many other things that go bump or howl in the night. Taught me the meaning of bravery, self-sufficiency, and just what a man, or in my case, a young boy can do on his own.
My passion for hiking and camping came from TH-cam, believe it or not... When I was a kid, me and my family went camping just one time. That's because both my father and mother had back issues since they were young adults. They both were in so much pain the next morning, we never went camping again. I went on a 5 day hiking trip with a friend of mine when I was 16 years old. But that was about it. Then, some years ago, I stumbled across channels like Joe Robinet, The Wooded Beardsman etc and that really flared up my passion! I went ahead and bought me a full set of hiking gear and started to go out. Small trips at first. Overnight in a local forest and stuff like that. To test out my gear and my abilities to set up camp, start a cozy fire, cook on a fire, you know... By now I go on hiking trips 2-6 times a year and I am absolutely in love with it! Wouldn't want to miss it! I came across your channel just a few day ago, when I searched for reviews of a tent a was considering to buy. One of your videos was in the recommended section. I like your videos. You're doing some good and honest testing and I like your casual way of doing it. Casual, yet professional. You've got yourself a new subscriber! Cheers mate.
Another great outdoor adventure Luke. One of the things I like about your channel is every adventure suitable for entry level outdoors people but yet advanced enough to hold the interest of experienced hikers/campers.
Reading all these brilliant, idyllic stories has me so envious. Despite being a Reservist, my Dad never really took my sister & I out camping as kids; I had to discover my love of the bush well into adulthood. I always used to think I hated it, but it turned out I just hated being freezing + hungry + sleeping straight on the ground, which was the only way that my friends who had tried to get me involved always did it. Once I later discovered the existence of sleeping pads & that it wasn't a moral sin to bring whatever you needed to be actually _comfortable_ (I now own a Zero Gravity chair), I fell in love. I have different tents + gear ensembles for different durations + types of camp (my hike-in camping kit, my just-1-night car camping kit, my weekend car camping kit, & my 4-days-or-more car camping kit - as well as my expecting-a-storm camping kit). All my gear is colour coordinated + I'm unreasonably proud of it. I'm a foodie at home, so natch I'm obsessed with camp cooking; my Dutch oven skills are first-rate, if I do say so - & I also love playing trail chef, having fun with the challenge of coming up with properly complex + satisfying dishes within the confines of weight limits + lack of refrigeration. I love everything about being in the wild, & I only wish my good memories of it had started in my childhood, rather than my 30s. My Dad + I were super-close, & I wish we could have shared that together. (A moment of silence for the ex who tried _really_ hard to get me into it with him, as it was a large part of his life, + I did give it a go - but that was unfortunately _festival_ camping, & thus not my thing.)
If it is made out of canvas then you need to season it. Set it up, then get a garden hose and get it soaking wet. Let it dry completely in sunlight. Repeat process 2 more times! What you are doing is the same as washing and drying a pair of denim jeans. You are shrinking the fabric. A properly seasoned tent, swag WILL NOT LEAK OR WICK WATER. Enjoy many excellent reviews and info from you. I enjoy your channel very much!
Thanks so much for including the Dewalt chainsaw in this video! I didn't know it existed until I watched this video. I purchased one & the double battery pack with charger & carry bag. Last weekend I cut up a fallen oak tree trunk 10.5 inches to 10 inches diameter & 20 fee long into 1 foot logs along with a bunch of dead & seasoned branches that fell during a recent storm. I used one battery for approximately 3 1/2 hours until it ran out of power. I had to refill the bar oil tank once during that time. The clean up was a breeze & and the chain was still nice & sharp. I was amazed at how easily it worked through that oak log & how it made short work of the branches. This little wonder is now my go to chainsaw for the tree parts that fall after storms in the yard & for cutting back lower branches. I'm very impressed! Keep up the great work on your videos.
Great video again, thank you. I had to remember how we were as children, first pioneers and later, after Velvet revolution, because we just enjoyed going to hike around the ruins of old castles. I send many greetings from the Czech Republic. When I was a boy, country was called Czechoslovakia.
my hatchet use to look like that... 40 yrs ago! the leather is well worn... but it is indestructible/bulletproof! Happy Birthday Lil' Luke! (little no more!!) And Luke, you think you've made it?? My dad is 89, and at 58, I'm still his baby, lol! Too bad about the tent. I love the configuration possibilities but I'll sleep under a tarp before I go swimming against my will. Thanks for the vid.. sry you take the misery for us, but we appreciate it!
Good speech Luke! My 18th birthday is almost exactly 6 months after this video was published. I feel like what you had to say about advocating for yourself applies to me a lot, and it's a lesson I'm learning quickly.
I love the "easy to be satisfied" comment. When I was a kid I only really got to go camping in the winter. So even if you didn't like oatmeal or spam on a day when its cold (coldest we camped was I think -18 degrees f) anything warm tastes great.
Congratulations with raising great kids! Please greet your son a happy birthday. I appreciate the precious content you share with us. Strength and honor!
I get my passion for the outdoors from my grandfather and my father. My dad passed away a few months ago and so next year I'm taking my 17 year old son to hike the windrivers in my dads honor. It was the first hike he ever took me on at just 8 years old. The trail is part of the CDT, but we are only doing about 6 miles to Dads Lake (yes that's the name of the lake) because my health isn't what it used to be and that was my dads "secret" fishing spot. ❤
Happy birthday Lucas. Keeping your daughter in my prayers. My nephew is in the Navy. He's on his way to Bahrain. Keep up the great work on the reviews.
Grew up on the family’s 115 acre farm surrounded by woods and other farms. I’m also an Eagle Scout......so I spent a lot of time outdoors growing up. Got away from it all once I got married, with only a few camping trips. Really only started getting back into it, now that I’m single, in the past few years (now 48 yrs old). The thing I have to get over is the noises. Every little twig dropping and my over active mind goes crazy. Found I love hiking recently with family located near the Superstitions. It ruins it for me coming back to Michigan after a vacation. I did a 10 day back packing trip when I was 15 in New Mexico. What an awesome time.
Happy birthday Luke 18 wow your journey has just begun, enjoy the ride. Thanks luke i appreciate you and your honest reviews. Other youtubers push junk and do not do true test before they give reviews. Onetigris as a whole love it. They have unique tent designs which i love . I absolutely love my bushcraft bungalow 2 for the price it was a win win
I have to say, OneTigris is a pretty good company. Over the last couple years I have purchased their down patrol bag, Roamer backpack and Tangram tent and have only had one small issue with a half inch stitch. I used all three for a fishing trip last week and my only problems were the size of the fish I caught and that they didn't bite more often! There is a possibility of the chair and table making a return. On the co-op and testing site they will poll opinions on past products to bring back to market occasionally. Really is a shame about the lemon you got, looking forward to vigorous testing of its replacement.
That sucks that the tent leaked. I did a review of their Tigers Den this summer and after being left up for 2 days of light - heavy rain it was still bone dry inside. They started using a MUCH thicker and wider sealing tape after the Bungalow 1.0 failing like it did. I just started testing the Snugpak Venture Pile shirt and pants & 2nd Skinz base layers, and man are they warm! I wore them inside our -20° deep freezer at work and was completely comfortable! I'll also be testing their MONSTER -50°F Antarctica RE sleeping bag and Sasquatch jacket when it gets cold enough. As always, great vid brother, keep em coming! ~Chesapeake
Hi Luke , I remember as a 12 year old going for an overnight tramp ( hike) and we were so deep in the bush , awesome bird life, the views would take your breath away. A song we would sing was... Away away with Billy and pack , we are folioing on the mountain track, we all will get lost and never come back in the Tararua ranges. The tararuas are the mountains at the back of Levin , in the north Island of New Zealand were I live. People have died as the weather can change very quickly, and as with all hicking , people dont prepare enough , they dont take extra cloths just in case and if they get lost they suffer from hypothermia and some die or have to be rescued by our search and rescue
I'm glad I bought front Runner flip pop tent. I've been some good rain storms, and never got wet. Up on White Top Mountain on Labor day weekend, high winds and driving rain. It is one awesome tent, I just love.😎😊😁 Dennis from Delaware
I watch you and Susie all the time I watched almost every video you put out! I love the reviews that you do it tells me a lot about equipment. When I was growing up I was raised not quite rural but sticks and I can't all the time when I was about 13 to when I was 17 I lived under the oil road with big chuck holes in we had a small orchard which was about 15 trees. I am now 63 and I'm going to start camping again you inspire me and many others inspire me as well keep up the great work Luke
I never have had the luxury of a car or van when out in the Scottish Highlands rough camping. My backup is a military tarp over my tent as here in Scotland we have 300; that is THREE HUNDRED DAYS, of rain each year. None of my tents have leaked in the interior but touching the doors of course allows some water to drip down inside and does not interfere with my sleeping bag or sleep. Dry bags and sea going waterproofs in all seasons! Without fail!
Thanks for the review, Luke. I was considering buying one of these and now I reckon I'll hold back until your second review on its replacement. Tony (UK)
No doubt! There’s no way that that would fly in UK weather, we’d be soaked in minutes. I’m not risking my ridiculously expensive UGQ quilt in one of these.
@@InimitaPaul I wouldn't trust any tent to keep my sleep system dry, if I did sleep in one, I would still take my bivvy bag for extra protection so it's not worth it for me, better off with a bivvy bag and tarp in the first place. Being in a small tent in the rain is miserable, whether it's leaky or not, if it's not a flysheet-first pitcher and it's raining when you pitch, your inner will get wet, furthermore you can't chance using a stove inside a tent so you can get cold...whereas with a bivvy bag, which is basically your inner, you are warmer when you sleep because there's less space to heat with your body, and under a tarp you can make various configurations and safely use a stove, even a twig stove or small fire, and stay cosy as well as having more living space.
Simon H How wrong you are fellow rain drop dodger! 😉 I pretty much exclusively go out in the three worst seasons as that’s my set up. I mainly use either my Luxe Minipeak XL with the collapsible hot stove or the Fjallraven Abisko Lite 2, one keeps everything warm, dry and comfortable and the other has an attached inner so I’m good. You can actually quite safely have a small twig fire in a Bushbox in the vestibule entrance but it’s more suited to using the Jetboil MiniMo. Add the -6 UQG quilt and the Thermarest Neorest Xtherm pad and I don’t remember the last time I was chilly, even while I’m asleep with no stove going.
Rig a tarp over the tent or "scotchgard" the tent. lol The one trigris tent only has a 1500mm waterproof rating. Standard camping tents are rated at at least twice that water proofing.. Personally I wouldn't rely on one system for water protection if you're in a country that rains a lot. Also consider an additional groundsheet underneath the tent as a footprint.
Hi Luke, the noodles you've eaten is indomee. An Indonesia brand of instant noodle that are meant to be eaten like a fried noodles. After you boil it for about 3 mins, you pour away the water, add in the seasoning, stir and enjoy.
My old man wanted to be Grizzly Addams, so he took me to the mountains all the time when I was a kid. My favorite TV show growing up was Wild America with Marty Stouffer. Nowadays I live in an RV so I can camp full time.
My passion for camping and hiking came from my dad. My mom was always with us too she enjoyed going camping and hiking also. I have spent most of my life camping and hiking and I always enjoyed it.
Luke my friend, the first leg of your mission with your kids may be accomplished, but make no mistake, you will continue to feel, worry and share in every ache, pain, success, failures, joys, happiness, sadness until you take your last hike. It isn’t over until it’s over. As a matter of fact, it’s now when all of your teaching will be tested. But not to fear of losing the past cause when the grandkids come it all starts over again. Circle of life. I have raise 2 sons and a daughter, now have 4 grandkids. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Blessings. 😁
My passion came from you and Suzy, for real, didn't ever think about it until I watched one of your videos then I was hooked, now I have most of the gear and I'm still collecting, thanks Luke
Happy Birthday Lucus 🔥☕️🎂, Luke thank you for your honest reviews an hard work, much appreciated, take care, stay healthy an God bless you and your Family always. 👼🏻🇺🇸🔥☕️🇺🇸👼🏻👼🏻
A leaking tent is an absolute no-go. A good tent has to be a good shelter at bad weather too. With large space, good vestibules and good air circulation. Making of tough material, easy to setup, and reliable.
@Koyne No, it wouldn't. Ken is giving credit where credit is due as well as commenting on the ethos and success of the overall brand. Simply saying "failure" is both vague and redundant. Not to mention, this isn't an English class.
@@danclements1990 originally made by Walrus tents in USA. They sold to MSR in 2001 where it was marketed as walrus Trekker tarp...stopped abobout 2013. Chinese rip off copies by 3FUL and another ( I forget) are but usually VERY bad construction.
OneTigris products are interesting. They do an awesome job standing behind their stuff, adapt, and overcome. But sometimes they can fail or break. It's like working with some amazing mad scientists. My tent needed a replacement part and when I asked if I could buy one, they just sent me an all new tent that had major upgrades and thanked me for contacting them. You might have a problem, but I guarantee, they will help you if they can.
EXCELLENT, Luke. I have that same ax, I polished both sides & sharpened it which improved its cutting ability. I have the Soto Windmaster Stove & have known about Soto cooksets. I'm quite pleased to see you use & review the set; looks like that is a complete cookset in every respect. Thank you for using & reviewing the Soto Cookset, & lantern. I didn't know electric chainsaws existed; thanks for showing & using the Dewalt electric chainsaw. I'll be looking forward to your use & review of the Helikon Swagman Roll. Corporals Corner channel uses that product on most of his outdoor adventures.
Luke - first off my wife and I love your videos and we also know that you probably spend more time outside then any one I know or has seen here on (TH-cam) has it ever crossed your mind or maybe have you thought about doing a long distance hike like the A.T? The A.T trail community is super awesome and I personally believe you would love it, now that the kids are all grown and your son will probably start his own thing (since he`s 18 and all) maybe you can talk Susan in joining you on a trip of a lifetime. I personally got half way (to the ATC in Harpers Ferry in 2016) and me and my wife will be heading back out next year to re-start that journey and hopefully this time thru-hike the entire thing. Before long age will catch us all and our crippled legs won`t let us get out and enjoy nature like we want. You should give it some thought ;-). As always happy hiking and keep being you.
Cub Scouts. Finding arow heads and geodes. Got my knife patch and held the ceremony at the Wilson school gym when I was 6 years old when the Cub master handed me my Cub scout knife. I still have it to this day. Been hiking and camping ever since. Born in 63.
My passion didn't come from my childhood. It was the military. I did 8 years in the Marine Corps as a supply sergeant, but I was when I later joined in the National Guard. After the second year, I changed my MOS to infantry and did it for the next 13 years. I missed being outdoors so much that I'm doing it again but this time on my own terms. Bushcrafting and overlanding. My new passions!
Great video, Luke! I like the DeWalt 12-inch saw...Home Dept? I bought a 12-inch Greenworks saw for my overland camping kit from Lowe's. Those Japanese products are awesome and yes, they are expensive but will last forever. I think you had an initial suspicion that the tent would leak...shame, great looking shelter. I love the OneTigris Bungalow 2.0 and have not had any issues with it. I'm 73 and began roaming the woods and river banks all over central Ohio at the age of ten. I loved camping on my own and my dad encouraged me as he did it when he was a kid. My two brothers started out with me but they lost interest. Both are into golfing and one "camps" in a huge luxury travel trailer, keeping it up in Yosemite during the warm weather season. I've always been the explorer of the family having traveled throughout five continents with the military paying for most of the travel. My AFSC or job as an Independent Duty Medical Technician allowed me to travel as I covered other IDMT's when they were ill or requested a leave of absence. I covered guys on mountain tops and in jungles. I was fortunate to work closely with British, German, Turkish and Saudi military and learned several languages. After retiring I accepted a job in Hawaii and used Maui as my base for exploring the Pacific area including Australia, Fiji and other remote islands. This pandemic is killing me. I can only get out into the local areas which fortunately includes the Appalachians and eastern areas of West Virginia (Monongahela National Forest). My trips are limited due to my wife being bound to a wheelchair as she experiences some medical issues. Consequently, I live vicariously through you and other You Tubers who have like interests; so I thank you for that. BTW, Happy Birthday to little(?) Luke and congratulations to Madison as her Navy career really begins with her first deployment; I miss my military career and if they had a recall, even at 73, I'd go in a heartbeat!
I have this tent and have used it twice now with precipitation. Once in heavy autumn dew. The second time in light to moderate rain. The tent leaked terribly in both instances. So I will no longer use it unless fully tarped. I did contact OneTigris and they refunded half the original purchase price. When I mentioned buying a second Outback Retreat, thinking mine was simply a lemon, they suggested I seam seal it inside and out, but consider buying a different model. I think that was a nice way of trying to prevent me from being disappointed again.I do absolutely love the features, size and layout of this tent. Just wish the seams and material were better designed.
When I was very young there was one time I remember staying in a camper with my whole family while my dad was following the seasonal need to sheer sheep. Later, I spent some time at an aunt's house up in the mountains of Idaho, just chasing lizards and playing with clay. Basically running wild. All this before I even started kindergarten.
Most kids today won't have such beautiful memories of their childhood. It will be more about how many likes or followers on social media they got..technology is a wonderful thing, but I can't help but think life was a bit better back then. Thanks for sharing your memories with us, sparked a few of my own on a chill Sunday morning.
I absolutely love the design of this tent. Would seam sealing that seam eliminate the leaking? I’m asking so I don’t make a bad purchase. If seam seal won’t work it’s off to another tent.
Love your videos. Only happened across your channel a month ago and am catching up on older episodes. Live in upper Midwest and went on a week long canoe trip in Boy Scouts (60+ years ago). A decade + later, wife and I were invited to canoe in the Boundary Waters (MN Canadian border north of Lake Superior). For 40+ years we have gone back, took our two daughters, their friends, and now our grandchildren (4 of 6 so far, the other 2 next summer). Everyone of them wanted to go again and the oldest has been four times. Doesn’t matter if you hike or bike or canoe, it makes life long memories!
my daughter retired after 20 years in navy, air traffic controler. my grandson starts basic up ib Chicago next month. Thank you to your daughter for her service
Rain and camping. no problem. As a river rat for 15+ years I use duct tape for all leaks very successfully. I even use it to plug leaks on my rafts to finish the float. .Ad a touch of glue on a small piece for extra seal. Quick-n-easy fix.
I think it would be great to see an adventure with you and your brother! You could def outfit him with some gear for an overnight trip to lonewolf mtn!! I think that would be fun if he's cool with it ever.
My first outdoor hike was in the gatlinburg area and I was about 10 years old and I slipped on a mossy rock and it knocked me out cold! Been doing it ever since.
Growing up there were 6 of us that hung around together, there were woods in our neighborhood we would pack up and spend the day. There was a spot i think about to this day, it was a creek bed that had maybe 20 yards on each side and it sloped up hill both sides. You couldn't see what was past the slope. This creek bed cut through alot of farm land. I just remember how wide open it was and you felt like you were in the middle of no where. It was the type of woods you could see forever tons of vines to swing on. Very fond memories.
My love of the outdoors started before I was even a month old. My parents took me camping when I was only a couple weeks old. My mom told me that I cried unless I was outside in my cradle, under the tarp, in the rain. That was the start of a lifelong love. My family spent every weekend in the Coast Range mountains, camping. My dad would come home from work on Friday night, and the whole family would head up to the mountains for the weekend. We'd be back for school and work on Monday. It didn't matter the weather. There's a hilarious commercial, "Pemco, Blue Tarp Campers" and that was us. Haha. All my parents' friends were also outdoors people, so we would often meet up with them for camping. We spent many holidays camping. During the summer we spent most of the time outdoors also, in the Coast Range and Cascades, and also on road trips, camping throughout the Pacific Northwest, in the mountains, deserts, and rainforest. (Most of Oregon and Washington are desert, a lot of people don't realize.) My dad had catamarans (and a Snark, lawl) and my mom and dad both had dirt bikes, so we also hung out with friends sailing on lakes and rivers, and with their motorcycle buddies. My mom had had horses before I was born, and then later in life she got horses again, so then trail riding and horse camping was a part of my life! We never "traveled" like other people did, with vacations to Hawai'i, or Europe... but I wouldn't have traded camping for anything. I feel more at home in the mountains than in my house, and I get homesick for them.
That stove is awesome btw. I love mine and it’s so nice not being stacked on top of the canister. It is so much more stable being separate and it works great. It’s a no brainer for $20
I had hopes for that tent. Total bummer though. I will pass on the saw, but the Soto pot set and that multi-function quilt/poncho are things I want to look at.
Luke, my father, my brother and me go camping to the same mountain every 31 december since 1999. I think is perfect to put your ideas in order. Anyway I go camping more times in the year. Thank you for your channel.
I still really like the tent and hopefully the replacement will test out great. My love for camping and the outdoors started early, like seven years old, camping in a large canvas tent, with two sets of camping bunks, with my family. My parents slept on an air mattress and us four kids had the cots. It was great. I continued camping, hiking, canoeing, etc., mostly with the girl scouts, then on my own when I was older. I kept it up with my three kids, especially when they were all in scouting. Now all my kids love camping, especially my boys, and I'm introducing it all to my grandkids.
My 10 year old son and l just switched to a under/ over quilt setup for our hammocks this summer! We went with the Onewind set with the same quilt you have and they worked awesome all summer!
Great video. I looked through your videos and was not able to find where ever did a follow up on this tent leaking. I just have one question: I kind of a tent junkie and have found that even high end expensive tents can leak if they have not been seam sealed. Do you feel that seam sealing would have prevented the leaking or was this just an all out fail? Thanks for your time and effort this stuff.
Rain always makes guy lines and tent material stretch - although cotton tents stretched more. After its been raining 15-20 minutes, you need to get out and tighten it all up. Don't forget, once the sun is up, to loosen them all, or something will part as they all dry out.
When I was kid I was picked on quite a bit and would go to small patch of woods to get away from people. 30 yrs later I still go to that same area regularly. Not so safe to stay the night these days but its good place to cook, light bushcrafting and discover the varity of life there.
hello ... I am a 30 year old woman from Indonesia .. the first time I saw your video I liked it ... you seemed to be enjoying camping .. I have the same hobby ...😊
Great video Luke, it’s the best channel of its type on TH-cam... been following you for years now, happy birthday to Lucas, 18 years ... time fly’s .... Didn’t think the Tigris would be good, the idea is good, but let down in construction and materials... love the Soto gear .. Japanese quality...
I have 2 of those quilts. They are actually pretty water resistant. I slept with it in a hammock the other night with a underquilt. I do have the 40 degree rated ones. So far I've been happy with them. Was using a onetigres underquilt with it.
What just really impresses me, this just a 1 camera set up, but with the clever editing, it looks like you have an entire film crew there, helping you. With the different establishing shots and you walking to and fro the tent or your TARP area. I mean it's pretty much invisible. And that's the most impressive part.
My passion for hiking also came from my father many many many adventures with him taught me survival skills I met my first through Hiker when I was 19 they were coming down the trail next to a waterfall which I was swimming at the base of it sparked an interest and has continued my adventurous spirit of hiking all over the state of Maine I did attempt a through hike in 2020 of the Appalachian trail but was turned back because of COVID-19 I am going to retry an attempted a through hike in February 2021 love your channel get some great ideas on there...Just purchased the night core have been looking for a lighter weight power bank I normally use the anchor excited to get the Nightcore and check it out on my next backpacking trip which is in two weeks thanks again love your channel
Happy birthday to your son. Love your work thanks for the info. Love tent and gear reviews. If you have time a overland trip with setup and gear review would be nice to see.
Cheers to you and congratulations for rising up your kids successfully! Great! So, a lot of other guys and I are looking forward to new multi day overnight adventures! Keep on Hiking, we all love you and your family, have a good time, greetings to you and all the other ones from good old Germany, Wolfgang.
The ramen noodle was indomie. The one you cook is the fried noodle (mie goreng in indonesian). The way to cook is boil the noodle, drain the water from the noodle, then add the seasoning). There's also the broth type (soto, ayam bawang, etc)
Luke, I thank you for your commitment to stick it out, even though the rain put a serious damper on your best plans. A couple of quick equipment questions for products that were not mentioned: 1) On setup night, you had both a headlamp and ground light. Could you please ID both of those two units? 2) I believe your jacket was a 5.11 product from the logos. Which model was it and how did it function in the rain? Thanks much. Wish there were more detailed demos like yours. Shows the true value of the products. Congrats on your son and daughter’s successes. Good job, Dad!
my dad and my two uncles and a cousin would camp out at Thanksgiving and a week in December day after Christmas, we would camp out on the Bank on the Tombigbee River in West Alabama, the only sound we heard was train whistle and a tug boat , I will always remember those days with my dad !
The tent looks a lot bedraggled after the all-night rain. On the other hand, given the downpour you endured, there wasn't THAT MUCH water in the tent. I would do a reseal on the ridge seam(s) and give it a second chance. Our first backyard 'campouts' were under a treated canvas tarp the family used in trucking grain. It smelled of wax and dust. My earliest hiking was with cub scouts: I discovered that I was build with tender feet. I never outgrew that condition! As an adult, after 12 miles of trail hiking I was 'done' for the day. After four days, it was time to be home.
Another great adventure! It's so refreshing to see a dad that is so proud of their kids! Kudos to your for raising them the right way! I would really like to see reviews on hiking/adventure pants. Do you have a brand/s that you prefer? I'm not going to be hiking the PCT, just going on car camping / week long backpacking trips. Keep up the gear reviews and say hi to Susie!
Karron Farias How wonderful you have such sweet memories of camping with your father.
My father teach only Seoi Nage, I end up being a Brownbelt in Judo
Very satisfying
A fire at your campsite is fantastic. In Australia it’s commonly referred to as the Bush TV because it is mesmerising.
Your father sounds like a great man by my standards at least. Thanks for sharing this inspirational and heartwarming memory.
Your pride for your kids shines bright,my friend. That is delightful to see
For anyone thinking about this tent and out off by this review.
Thanks for sharing!
Man that's awesome
@@gregtotten2617 thank you
My passion for hiking and camping came from TH-cam, believe it or not...
Violence is NEVER the best solution, agree, you are a good man. Happy birthday Luke and congrats to you and your Daughter. 🇺🇸👍
Thank you for providing honest and unbiased gear reviews, and not thinly veiled infomercials unlike so many other "gear reviewers" on youtube.
Great video again, thank you. I had to remember how we were as children, first pioneers and later, after Velvet revolution, because we just enjoyed going to hike around the ruins of old castles. I send many greetings from the Czech Republic. When I was a boy, country was called Czechoslovakia.
Luke: " I have done it! My kids are all grown up."
Luke walks in the door from this trip,
Susie: " Luke, Honey, I have some news for you." 😂
my hatchet use to look like that... 40 yrs ago! the leather is well worn... but it is indestructible/bulletproof!
Love watching this kind of videos. Especially when there’s rain...the sound of the rain, there’s something about it...relaxing of some sort...
Happy birthday Lucas. Keeping your daughter in my prayers. My nephew is in the Navy. He's on his way to Bahrain. Keep up the great work on the reviews.
Tell him please Thank you for your service sir!
I LOVE Frailty! Great movie. Love both actors. Great choice!
I actually nearly bought this tent. Glad I decided to wait it out. If you could kindly send some of that rain to Oregon, we'd greatly appreciate it.
I'm glad I bought front Runner flip pop tent. I've been some good rain storms, and never got wet. Up on White Top Mountain on Labor day weekend, high winds and driving rain.
It is one awesome tent, I just love.😎😊😁

@UCc4NXlz3NerQeef3ZjHKhPw luke did a review on it some ago, and I like, it hasn't fall me yet.

And I just love the stunning views that you see, it takes me back to the time where I was going up in Michigan
@@simonh6371 You sound way too paranoid to enjoy the outdoors lol
Rig a tarp over the tent or "scotchgard" the tent. lol
The one trigris tent only has a 1500mm waterproof rating.
Luke I'm injoying the rain 🌧️ with you and tell big luke happy birthday 🎂🎁🥳🎇💐 and many more to come
My old man wanted to be Grizzly Addams, so he took me to the mountains all the time when I was a kid. My favorite TV show growing up was Wild America with Marty Stouffer.
Nowadays I live in an RV so I can camp full time.
Sounds like a life I could be happy with.
One tigris :- a company full of good and interesting ideas, many of which are sadly poorly executed.
Yeah... it's a *PIECE OF CRAP!!!!!!*
And copied
@Koyne No, it wouldn't. Ken is giving credit where credit is due as well as commenting on the ethos and success of the overall brand. Simply saying "failure" is both vague and redundant. Not to mention, this isn't an English class.
@@josiahbounderby5912 who was the tent copied from? Id love to have a version that is bomb proof?
And happy birthday little Luke 🎂
Luke, you are awesome. I enjoy everything you do. I'm entertained and gain knowledge. Thank you.
Fishing/Camping adventures with dad spurred an interest in outdoors ... always enjoy your vlog in midst of my immobility.
You appreciate us, we appreciate you. Sounds like a win win to me. As always great video Luke.
I just purchased an 80volt Kobalt battery operated saw with an 18 inch bar. I just did a review on it and love the saw.
This has been a great adventure. I really enjoyed seeing all of the products you tested and your initial comments on each.
My first outdoor hike was in the gatlinburg area and I was about 10 years old and I slipped on a mossy rock and it knocked me out cold! Been doing it ever since.
They found a bear eating human remains a couple days ago near Gatlinburg
Cory Woo!
(Most of Oregon and Washington are desert, a lot of people don't realize.)
My dad had catamarans (and a Snark, lawl) and my mom and dad both had dirt bikes, so we also hung out with friends sailing on lakes and rivers, and with their motorcycle buddies.
It’s a no brainer for $20
It looks like a good stove. How much does it weigh and how does it pack?
I had hopes for that tent. Total bummer though. I will pass on the saw, but the Soto pot set and that multi-function quilt/poncho are things I want to look at.
good for Lucas for standing up for himself. i loved the Colorado road trip I watched it twice, thanks for the nice pictures and the beautiful views.
Luke, my father, my brother and me go camping to the same mountain every 31 december since 1999. I think is perfect to put your ideas in order. Anyway I go camping more times in the year. Thank you for your channel.
Rain videos are the best videos
I still really like the tent and hopefully the replacement will test out great. My love for camping and the outdoors started early, like seven years old, camping in a large canvas tent, with two sets of camping bunks, with my family. My parents slept on an air mattress and us four kids had the cots. It was great. I continued camping, hiking, canoeing, etc., mostly with the girl scouts, then on my own when I was older. I kept it up with my three kids, especially when they were all in scouting. Now all my kids love camping, especially my boys, and I'm introducing it all to my grandkids.
The eye of hurricane Sally passed over us. Man at the rain. I'm still working at getting the basement dry.
I would much rather be camping. Lol
Thanks for taking the trouble to make this video for us. Appreciate your straight forward honesty
I'm always lying and listening to your rainstorm nights before bedtime.
So tonight it will be this .. thanks
Hi Luke! Better days ahead my friend! I love the storms and the night life...another great video. New gear is great. Happy Birthday Luke!
Don't know why watching a gear review video is so relaxing....
The adventures is why I watch! Really liked this video !!! Thanks for all you do Luke! Can’t wait for the next one!
I've never seen anyone's hair be in such perfect condition after waking up at 7:00 ;-).
Not sure if you know this, but.. It’s a rug
Im from Philippines, This is still my dream tent, if only I have this tent on my channel that would be awesome ! More power
TheOutdoorGearReview! ❤️😊👍
My 4 year old daughter seen this tent I loved the design. Hopefully it's just a lemon because she really wants one.
Love your family camping stories and your equipment reviews are fantastic 😃
The ramen noodle was indomie. The one you cook is the fried noodle (mie goreng in indonesian). The way to cook is boil the noodle, drain the water from the noodle, then add the seasoning). There's also the broth type (soto, ayam bawang, etc)
Luke,
I thank you for your commitment to stick it out, even though the rain put a serious damper on your best plans.
A couple of quick equipment questions for products that were not mentioned:
1) On setup night, you had both a headlamp and ground light.
You sound like you and Susie are great parents and that's awesome 👌
Luke great episode.....over the years I’ve gone to bed more times with you than I have with my wife! 👊🏻👍🏻
Really full episode. Thanks Luke. Some very interesting items reviewed
That tent looks like a pain in the butt haha. Frailty is a great movie!
