Hey guys! Round two of our Pretender creation series! Be sure to comment whether you'd prefer to see these particular pretender chassis' in action next week, or if you'd prefer I delve into another deep subject around Pretender creation, like Bless strategy design and similar things. Thanks as always for the comments and the feedback!
Sounds great! I'll try to aim my next Pretender series creation video at putting the theory into practice. Frankly, its really fun for me to blast out random AI games. I'm not TOO good vs the AI, because I ordinarily play MP, but I'm happy to play against the newly improved (I've heard) AI guys in this one to crank out a few and see how things go! Its also (as a creator) much easier, as I get to relax and just PLAY, which is rare nowadays ;) And I don't mind if it takes you a while to find the videos, all good things are worth the wait :P
@@lazorr3260 Quick tips? NEVER forget that your troops have no hats. And try not to lean on the ability to recall a dead god rapidly... it tends to still be such a waste of holy turns that you end up regretting it. :) Otherwise, they're strong, and annoyingly so :P
@AOReaper I finally got an EA Ur victory! Ended up ignoring the recall entirely and went for an inprosoned god to get the most ridiculously stacked domain. I finally had enough money to really churn out troops and researchers. Also going for an enlarged bless really helped the survivability of my sacred casters and mushussus.
Thanks for the comment/feedback! Unfortunately with MP games, its difficult. For one: I don't want to "give away" other players' moves before the game is over, so it takes the time to finish a game. Next: it needs to be a game that's interesting to watch. Oftentimes, players go "AI" waaay too early, and quit the game if you beat them in a huge battle or something similar. I keep my eyes peeled for good games to upload, once they're finished, but its tough, as I essentially need to record the turns on EVERY game I play in the hopes that it eventually turns out well. My computer/storage situation is not the greatest, so I need to pick and choose my battles, but I'm trying!
Very nice video. I have some requests and questions. Some stat analysis would be nice and what to think about when you fight giants, small dudes, humans, elves etc. and when you are those nations in return. I recently played Muspelheim vs AI and let's just say i was glad my bless had True Sight, how could I have done that differently besides just spamming evocations? is there good equipment for countering some of the strategies you mentioned? When is it appropriate to research construction for an example? I usually want another spell added to my arsenal and unless I'm playing something like Ulm it's hard to time it certain research goals. You have made an "adaptable pretender design" video. i would like to request a research one as well, especially regarding some more esoteric timings, like when is it appropriate to get to const 7 for research boosters? I would also like to see how a walkthrough of some of the multiplayer communities and how to find and play games for beginners. They are surprisingly hard to find, and besides, the second part of theory is execution. I only know of Lucid's discord, but I doubt that's all there is. So finding places to put all these lessons to practice would be cool.
I can definitely do a good basic stat analysis, or rather from what you're describing "how to kill particular numbers or TYPES of opponents". That would be a really good one, and I'll be sure to implement it! There are 100% counters to virtually everything I'm mentioning! Its all about being adaptable. A good example was the "firestorm" protection I mentioned earlier. If you took +5 FR on your bless, for example, to protect your mages, you could then respond by having cheap flying units attack rear on turn 1. That would similarly disrupt my communions, and wouldn't matter that I had fire resistance on my bless. You could also, if you had the capabilities on your nation, cast OTHER battlefield wide spells. Sadly, most of the community does "what's expected" for the most part. There are a few notable exceptions, and I love encountering them, but MOST abysians will be dropping firestorm on human mage opponents, without thinking about the rain spell you'd cast turn 1, or the mass water elemental summons you did on turn 1 (they come with 10 FR as well), so it really benefits most players to take the "basics" when they can. But if you face a SPECIFIC opponent, and see what they have available, you can REALLY plan for them and mess them up. Its something as simple as having random supply line breaks (kill their supporting scouts, for example, as oftentimes those scouts are carrying gems for mages in huge armies!). A spell like "Vengeful waters" is AMAZING for doing that (it REALLY hurts when a random attack by a water elemental kills a scout with 20+ gems on them!). And I really wish I could help more in the areas of discords and community setups. I'm trying to slowly build a community here myself, but I still work full time (close to 70 hours a week routinely) so I don't have too much flexibility to "manage" something like that. There is a LOT to be said for games on the Illwinter game setup screen. If you look for games that are still in the "setup" phase, its fairly easy to chat with them, and figure out if you like "that group", but it can be hit and miss. I'd say you'll learn to be a better player if you just ignore it, and try to leap in and play with like-minded individuals. Sometimes (as a beginner) its GOOD to get stomped by a better player, and then ask them what they did, and how they did it. That helps a ton, and if its a player like myself (I still suck, don't worry haha), we'd be happy to tell you exactly what we did to counter/beat you! And thank you for the feedback and commentary, I really appreciate it!
I think the idea of counteracting strengths is more interesting. I don't think I've seen it done and examples would be helpful and a good springboard into expanding my thinking about how to play the game. I started an early war with Rus as EA Caelum and while there might be some problems in quality of troops, their blood vengeance has really limited my options on how I'm going to be able to sit on their cap long enough to crack it. Of course, their immobile is going to be an issue too.
Ok, great! I'll keep that in mind for next week's video, and see if I can really emphasize good ways to "build" to win against them, without crippling yourself with too much specificity! Thanks for the comment and feedback!

I'm late! How'd I miss this?!
But as for me, I think putting theory into practice would be the most logical next step.

Thank you my friend! Glad to have you, and appreciate the feedback and comment!
Really interesting to see your approach and thinking broken down. Good vid
Thank you so much! Appreciate the feedback!
@AOReaper no worries.... Any tips for EA Ur?
