This game looks awesome, so far! Let me know your favorite factions/nations, and what heroes you like to use with them! Also, check me out on Rumble if you prefer that sort of bag ;) Figure the more people I can reach: the better for all of us!
I'm basically blind because I did not realise you uploaded a video of Hero's Hour! To start things off, Power is basically the value of a unit. And Heroes can only have so much Power worth of units on the battlefield so that means you can't just casually start a battle with a hundred dragons unless your Hero *somehow* has high enough leadership to support that, otherwise the extra dragons that can't be allowed on the battlefield will be put into reserve until enough Power worth of the army is depleted where they'll be unleashed and deployed as reinforcements. Haven't finished the video yet so I may write more comments Edit: also, I'll be honest, it's been a long while since I played Hero's Hour, and I only ever played the demo 😅
Not a problem, already responded to your more detailed response, and I appreciate the assistance! Most of the stuff in this game seems fairly intuitive (thank god) so its coming along nicely!
Alrighty, just finished watching the video. Oh boy, the DLC changed a lot how the game works last time I played but the basics should still be the same. Arcane's shtick is that its Units are above average but most of them cost both Gold and Ore. But Arcane also has the most powerful spellcasters in the game, and one time I had a Hero with so much spellpower and knowledge that I could one shot any unit with a magic snowball or summon ENTIRE ARMIES of elementals and horrors. Granted, this was achieved by cheesing a certain overworld building but still. For every faction, there is a Might and Magical Hero. For Arcane, they have a unique Aether Forge building that you can spend either Ore or Aether in to get bonuses such as new Units, Spells, or straight up stat upgrades. (Assuming the DLC didn't change it) Artisans and Wizards earn Ore and Aether respectively after winning a battle. General turn order is to buy or upgrade a Building everyday and to move your Hero to collect free resources and fight battles you can win. Speaking of battles, your Hero, literally every Hero, is immortal unless the battle was lost and they lose more times in a row. What I mean to say is that you should use your Melee Heroes as meat shields, distractions while you position your normal units behind the Hero or to flank vulnerable enemies. And for your information, you have some limited control over units during battle. (iirc) Simply click on a group of units and drag to wherever you want them to move. This can be useful to kite fast units away which you could have done during the battle between the Gargoyles and dwarves. Also, Flying units are very fast and so you should have positioned them to where they'll attack the enemy riflemen while your hero distracted the melee dwarves. Goblins, compared to literally every other recruitable unit for Arcane, are very expendable especially for your current Hero who specializes in them so it's better Goblins die than anything else other than perhaps the free spawn that Arcane Heroes can get with certain perks. Hopefully all this information helps! And hopefully *most* of it is still more or less correct. I also recommend reading the Lexicon first before playing new factions just to get a feel of them and what they can do. Rogue in particular as it's technically several factions in one package.
Sounds great, thank you for the detailed response! So far I LOVE the game. Its like Dominions, but with less headache hahaha. I remember the old HoMM game, way back when, so a lot of it is familiar, but it feels MUCH better with the live battles vs the turn based. I'm going to try these tips out on my next run-through, though I can see not a lot of viewers really like this content, so its tough for me to prioritize it, but I'll eventually get there. I play a multitude of games, so its difficult to spend my "gaming hours" each day playing stuff I really can't make videos about (Warframe, GTFO, Heros Hour, Maneater, Manor Lords, Fallout 76, Night of the Dead, etc etc), which is what causes the sometimes long time between videos. I just can't play the same game over and over and over, I have to branch out. That being said, I dabble in this game every few days, so hopefully I'll be able to get another update to Arcane out sometime soon! Really appreciate the comment!
