  • Maintain built in steering wheel controls on any Toyota 2009- 2011.
    *IF YOUR RADIO DOSN'T HAVE A "SWC GROUND" WIRE* - make one (connect a new wire from plug 6 to any grounding point)
    Most cars are the same, may need to look up your specific vehicle's wiring diagram.

    You are the man, sir! Found the exact same harness in my vehicle. Key one is brown, key two is yellow in the 2010 Camry XLE(JBL) four-cylinder. Exact same pin locations as you said. Worked the first time. Thank you sir.

    Subscribed!!! even though I only needed this one video. Your own 3 hours wasted and however many more required to make this video was 3+ hours saved for me. Thanks very very much. The freely available Camry 2007-2011 wiring diagram book (found online) showed more connections on this F8 connector than was available on the headunit connector, leading to my initial confusion. And for anyone else using book, sw1 means key1, sw2 means key2, and swg means ground. I wish you had a donate button because this video is so worth it.

    It works like a charm on my Toyota e12 2006. But I had some difficulties at the very beginning. On my Android HU only key 2 is marked, I have to find key 1 and the ground wire myself. There are also additional settings on the HU in the factory settings to make it suitable for my car. But overall this post helped me a lot, I thought there is no way to connect wheel controls without adapter. Thank you very much and God bless you!

    I swapped the head on my FJ Cruiser 2014 with the ATOTO unit and did not know what to do with the steering controls until I saw ths very helpful video. I followed your instruction and located the wires, spliced and connected them manually. However, only volume and up and down buttons worked, but mode, voice control and answer phone buttons did not work, so I swapped the wires and this time only the others worked and volume, up/down buttons did not work. Reversed the wires back again as skipping songs and volume control is just enogh to make me feel I achieved something with no mechanical background. Anyways, I am very grateful for your kindness in sharing your knowledge, Thank you.

    Excellent video. I added a is350 steering shell to my older 1is and followed what you did here connecting the direct direct to key 1 and key 2. I hooked it up the audio controls to an Android unit. Just use key 1 to brown, and key 2 to grey. White to audio ground. And program with swc settings in android app. Boom thanks again!

    Is this the same as toyota auris 2010? my Atoto F7 head unit has two different cables (brown/black and orange/black) with label steering key + and one black cable with label swc gnd, should i connect those to cables 6,7,8 on 20 pin wire harness ??

    • @MrAnythingGuy
      @MrAnythingGuy  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Just googled what your steering wheel looks like, because I've never heard of a Auris before.
      It looks exactly the same as this corolla wheel, except for the display button & Bluetooth controls on the right side of yours. You might loose functionality of those buttons unless you can figure that out. if yours has a cruise control button you wont loose that.
      It looks like the Atoto F7 doesn't have a SWC ground, you might not need to worry about plug 6 (swc ground)
      If you have a 20 pin connector in your car, I would try and hook up your F7 "key+"(brown/black) into plug 8 and your other wire (orange/black) into plug 7. Hope this helps.

    • @MrAnythingGuy
      @MrAnythingGuy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@xhuliohysesani Well thats great that the controls worked but huh, that is really strange. It sounds like maybe its loosing the memory of the SWC.
      Is it only the swc that is reset every time? or do all of the settings revert back to default?
      If its only swc then I have no idea... but if all settings (EQ, radio presets, clock, etc.) reset then it could be your 12V constant power (yellow wire) not sitting properly?
      Im not sure, I had a name branded Nakamichi radio and it never did that. On mine, once i hit the save button it was saved forever.

    Good descriptions, works on most Head-Units that have the 2-3 wire SWC input / controls. For Older model stereos with just ONE SWC wire (JVC / Kenwood), sadly will likely need the $50 box to convert the analog signal to pulses & values the deck can use. Most chinese devices HAVE this box within (some even add wireless Android Auto -only works for newer phones tho), making them decent value- while they work.

      @@CrashCarson14 Hey, if you look at the learning mode on my radio it showed that K2 (Key2) was 4 buttons (VOL+, VOL - , SEEK Next and SEEK Previous)
      K1 (Key1) was only the MODE button. If your unit only has 1 steering wheel wire it could be up to 4 buttons, connect it to K2 and see if that works.
      I used a voltage multimeter and connected it to toyota radio harness wire while pressing the steering wheel buttons to see which buttons were linked to that wire. If I remember correctly it was a red wire for Key 2 and brown for Key 1!

I got the modified air bag, and the steering wheel control switches (from a Toyota Camry Land Cruiser, 04-07 2006) from Ebay. (I was able to mount the switches to the steering wheel,) I thought with my Kenwood Echelon 1057XR and the mmr2 steering wheel interface, every thing would wire up, WRONG !! ) It looks like I need to change out my existing clock spring and add a clock spring from a Toyota Camry Land Cruiser, so the wire harnesses will be compatible! Try using only Key 2. Sometimes the radio doesn't support key 1 & 2. It may not even have swc ground... just plug "key" into to plug 8 on the 20 pin connector.
      Key 2 = volume + & - and seek track next & previous
      Key 1 = mode button only
      (For this particular steering wheel)

    Sensors are not very responsives, the obstacle in the video is a wall, so they should works all in same time because it's like a line, but they work separately

      You can blame Toyota for not having very sensitive buttons. I did notice this after using them for a while, sometimes I would have to push the buttons hard or have to press the buttons 2 times for it to work.
      For the rest of your comment... proper english would be a good first step.
