- Just wanted to speak about this cause I was not expecting it. It's more than likely gonna be condensed and cut which does suck I'll admit but I'm still really hype to see this stuff animated.

So a quick response comment here everyone. A lot of you all are saying that Season 1 did the same thing with showing and foreshadowing some things that weren’t actually in the season, such as Cocytus vs the lizard men and Sebas in E-Rantel. While that is a valid point it’s not necessarily 1 to 1. In the S1 opening those scenes were very fast, like 2 second clips and were not a major part of the opening. In this opening, legit almost half of it is Volume 14 stuff. So while it’s entirely possible they are just foreshadowing Volume 14 stuff like you all say, the amount of animated volume 14 scenes and characters makes me think otherwise. That’s a lot of clips for just foreshadowing is all. Hope that clears up my thought process a bit. Thanks everyone.

From the vid, you said that volumes 12 and 13 were not related to the main story. So does that mean when the movie comes out, it will be like a flash back in a way.
Also i am guessing that there are events during 12 and 13 that impact 14 and beyond. if so, what are those major events.

@@XDeltaXCZ it’s not that they aren’t related. It’s just the arc in volumes 12 and 13 can be mostly self contained. They are still going to likely alter the timeline a bit if they get into volume 14 this season before the movie

It would appear that the anime will cover volume 10, 11 and 14 while volume 12 and 13 will be covered in a movie.
There's a high chance that season 4 will not cover volume 14 because for some reason they love teasing in the openings. Remember season 1 OP? They also teased some season 2 scenes in there
@@nickymouse7362 If it was just a few scenes then I would agree with you that this is just teasing us but since more than half the opening is just scenes and characters of volume 14. At that point it is too much to just tease us with.
which is very stupid because holy kingdom arc is a reason for the war that happens in Re Estize, they probably did it because the holy kingdom arc is 2 volumes and they wanted to fit in a 3rd volume in there so they skipped that and put in the 14th instead without any regrd for the story. It's not to upseting tho because imo vol14 is the best arc.

@@redmilk2861 When will the movie come out did they give any dates? If it comes out in the middle of the season like the MHA movies do then it won't be a serious problem narratively as the viewers will likely have watched the movie before they watch the final arc.
I just wish anime was 20+ episodes. A lot of other animes get lots of episode and have to drag story, but overlord can use every second. I'm sad and excited for season 4.
When I saw the opening, I first I noticed the Armor the PDL moves around and I was thinking,,, wait... that is out of order... Then I rewound and saw the red armor shooting a gun. Red Armor was originally Shalltear, but when I slowed it down it was Red Drop and Albedo. Then I was like holee sh** they have volume 14 in here.
Considering that next episode will be the fight of Warrior King (the one I read had his name as Martial Lord idk what happened to translations but they are the same either way) and Ainz Sama, next up will be the fast 1.5-2 episode taking in the dwarves, slave dragons and Armoles (mineral armored moles lol)
I just hope they make the pace good, AND make a Overlord S4 part 2 lol

Impossible to have good pacing with 3 volumes in 13 episodes, v14 is going to be an epic shitshow, you can't adapt a 400 page novel in 5 episodes.

LN 10 and 11 are the more "light ones" - so a season with only that stuff would be lacking... but going to LN 12 would be a mistake because it would leave the story in a HUGE cliffhanger... so they went to 14. Hopefully we will get Overlord V to see LN 12 and 13

@@RD-kq3ml not really, if you think about it. In LN 12 the first part with Demi could be 10-15 minutes screen time. Then skip Re-Estize and go straight for E-Rantel. And then is going to be fight after fight. Neia will have at least one hour of alone screen time

I dont care if the opening is just teasing for the next season or pushing vol 14 as well, the fact that they are clearly presenting it as something they want to bring into the anime is perfect and good enough for me
As much i dont prefer them going straight to volume 14, anime wise as long as they actually put in the effort to make the events look good this time, im fine with it. The final fight of the season *has* to be we animated
I've read the LN but I'm still thankful that Overlord got far with 4 seasons and 3 movies from Madhouse. I'm still waiting for a new Black Lagoon season and No game, no life season 2, Madhouse!
my fingers are crossed I don't want them to fit volume 14 in this season I'm wishing they just included volume 14 stuff just to hype things up, there's a lot of stuff in volume 14 that I don't want them to skip

Judging by the hype in your commentary, season 4 will definitely be a massive banger for the next couple episodes and im all aboard it!!! Episode 2 is just the tip of the mountain.
Im usually an Anime-only viewer, but i have read the source material of shows that i loved. Nisekoi and Attack on Titan's manga were worth the read and i'll keep what you said about having nothing to not read the light novels, i might read the light novels since Overlord's world building and magic system is superbly well constructed. Its this kind of show is what im so interested in, just like Mushoku Tensei's world and magic system.
I like how Gondo and Philip are between Ainz. Like a meter between loyalty and stupidity

So many AudioBook covers of the light novels on youtube there is no reason anyone can't listen during work or at the gym or while gaming. It's a great listen to binge aswell.

No one wants them to adapt every single word of the light novel but people do want them to at least adapt a minimum amount of story and character development and foreshadowing. I think season 1 did a good job of cutting stuff by adapting what was needed. Season 2 and 3 skipped too much in my opinion to the point where a lot of characters became too one dimentional and far too many plot points were skipped. So naturally fans would be skeptical of them trying to do the same thing again in season 4.

I just want to watch Overlord man, and am happy that it has reached this far. Seeing the characters move and voice acted are what I'm after the most. It's almost an impossible task to adapt every minute detail in the novel considering how intricate the author is in describing everything. And while we novel readers might enjoy the anime more if it's near 1:1, I doubt those who only watches the anime would appreciate it and only get bored.
I really hope we get to see the whole series being adapted until the end.

@@everythingship8226 well so far the anime has been designed to be one episode per chapter from the ln. if you combine 10, 11, and 14, thats 12 episodes. the problem is that vol 14 chapters are really long so I don't know how they're gonna handle that. my initial thoughts was that they can do something similar to the second chapter of the invader arc ( can't remember the vol), where the one of the workers challenged ainz and they lost during the meet up, which was not included in the anime

Only thing I can think of that they’re doing outside of more than 13 episodes is the anime covering volumes 10-11-14 and maybe part of 12 and volumes 12-13 being contained in the movie. I’ll have faith in whatever they do

i was hoping vol14 to get its own season when i was reading the LN...like holy shit vol14 was wild af.. now that it seems 3 vols including 14 will be crammed into 13 eps only...that just breaks my heart... anime only watchers would have no idea how grand vl14 was, so much details will be missed holyyyy.
The overlord film (the sequel to overlord IV) is titled Overlord: Holy Kingdom Arc, so safe to say that the roble volumes will be saved for later.
I think we are going to get season 5 after 3 to 6 months after finishing season 4,just like season 2 and 3

I think an interesting way they could adapt this is to do 10 and 11 and then take like a mid-season break where the movie will be released, and then do volume 14 after that

I do have a question tho, a delegation from Holy Roble Kingdom visited Re-Estize capitol after the country was invaded by Jalbadoah seeking assistance from the Blue Rose (Volume 11) before heading to E-Rantel, Sorcerer Kingdom capitol. Assuming Season 4 end with the final pages of Volume 14, the movie has to rearrange some of the plot lines to make the story coherent.
Ah, yeah, I remember that group had an apeman subhuman as part of the group. It didn’t really ring any bells tho since I don’t think their designs were explained too much
@@jimmyv5494 In my case, the Monk, the Shaman and the feathers on their chests was the indicator. I know the animation based on exact description in the LN will be difficult. Madhouse animators is on a dateline and work with models they have rather than making a new design from scratch.
I hope there is an adaptation for the holy kingdom. Haven’t read it but it sounds like a big part of the story and interesting.

While volume 12 and 13 are my favourite, I believe the best scene is the fight between cocyutus and brain. It's just incredibly beautiful seeing brain validated

Actually i can recall an anime, if I'm not mistaken tensura season 1 opening teased hinata+holy knights and guy the first demon but they actually came in the story around season 2 part 1&2 so maybe overlord is just teasing the volume 14 in the new opening.
But I'm really hoping they make a season 4 part 2, i just can't get enough of overlord :(

The Red Gundam that Albedo is facing is Azuth from Red Drop.
so one thing that has been bothering me is the fact that just after the dragon lord face off, albedo comes in from0 a distinctly different side of the screen (from the left in this case) then the rest of the floor guardians, (from the right, minus pandora's actor, who was centered). i can only assume this has to do with her plans, but i would like some one to say they noticed this to.
So that's why Niea doesn't appear in the Opening....this movie better be 2+hours
They remade season 1 with some bonus scenes and episodes and you can see PDL's armor fight against Shalltear as well.
This scene isn't shown in the Light Novels, but more of a little bonus since we knew what happened in season 2.
over the years that Overlord anime has been on hiatus, I've been spoiling myself like a rich kid. I cannot wait for each episode, I love this show too much.

Remember when we saw Rimuru fight Sagakuchi in opening of Slime Season 1 .. and we saw the actual fight in season 2,,, so we should trust trailers more than openings ... only volume 10,11 are covered in trailers

This season needs like 25 episodes. There are so many things to cover and I don’t mind to see more overlord. Each episode is so short.

I needed this because a few parts of the opening got me confused. Been reading the light novels and I was like that doesn’t happen yet that’s the next NEXT book past their 2 book minimum wth
people don't worry about it anyone who's read the light novel can tell there doing 1ep per chapter so far, which btw if they continue that they will end on ep12 and overlord normally has 13eps so clearly were fine.
vol 10 = 3 chapters: ep 1,2,3
vol 11 = 4 chapters: ep 4,5,6,7
vol 12-13 are the upcoming movie so there being skipped in the anime
vol 14 = 4 chapter: ep 8,9,10,11 (the 4th chapter for this vol is nearly double a normal chapter, so ep 12 we here too)
For ep13 if they do it, they will just add the prologue chapters in-between eps (normally a prologue chapter is really short probs like 2mins each in anime time and there's 4 of them plus 4 epilogue chapter which are the same 2mins in anime time) which will be at the end of each vol or start of the next depending how they do it, again 2mins x 8 so 16mins of context, there 13eps they covered everything.
long story short don't worry and enjoy the anime.
I do believe they said they were doing the Holy Kingdom arch in the Overlord movie.

I thino why they are skipping with the 14 is probably the studio wants to wrap up the Re-estize and Bahamuth arcs so that they can focus on the dwarf and holy kingdom after. I suspect they just want the progression to be linear instead of coming back to the re-estize again which i could say can confuse the viewers. After that they will follow it up from roble in the 5th season and then to elf kingdom, dragon kingdom and probably the final battle with the Theocracy at the last season.

If I'm not wrong the group at 4:50 is the group from Slane Theocracy that tried to convice Blue Rose to leave Re-Estize with them because it was doomed, at least those 2 shots one after another give the indication that it happened in this "scuffed" inn.
No, I'm pretty sure it's the silver feather ( something about a feather lol, you can see the feather on his hat and on the other members) group. They are introduced to jircniv when he enters the arena to speak with the slane theocracy priests.

So far seasons 1-3 have all followed rather strictly a policy of "each season covers 3 volumes".
So it is not really hard to imagine that this season will cover Vol.10, 11 and 12. Which is the "epilogue" of what happened at the end of season 3 in the Sorcerer Kingdom, the Re-Estize Kingdom and the Baharuth Empire respectively, then the entire dwarven arc and 12 would be the first half of the Holy Kingdom / Jaldabaoth arc.
Unless they decide to shuffle around alot and do the entire Holy Kingdom arc with, let's say, a movie seperately I see little hope for stuff from Vol.14 happening as it is just too far back.
Cutting out the Jaldabaoth arc like that might actually work though.
But it would be awkward with the whole "Sikes! Lord Ainz is dead?! *+gasp+*" moment after the dwarven arc's epilogue which was obviously just to mess with us and explained later in the Holy Kingdom arc... but again, the timing would be awkward AF UNLESS this is actually where they will end Season 04 on...
...and then have a huuuge hype-train selling point and reason for fans to go see the movie in cinemas to find out what the hell happens next.
Would be good marketing but that would also mean we DON'T get to see Vol.14 stuff like Platinum Dragon Lord, Mecha-item, Brain Vs Cocytus, etc.
Honestly I’ve always believed they should do 2 novel per season, but I am happy with this.
