Cheryl Miller is an undisputed legend. Really hope she’s in the corner at three years when the W can renegotiate. It’s long overdue. Adam needs to start a divestment plan. Owners, players and the league deserve better

I totally agree with you about the WNBA needing their own bully to negotiate future contracts without involvement of the NBA. Similar to Billie Jean King and what she meant the forming of a WTA and doing their own contract negotiations and getting away from the ATP which was the men's tennis association who did all the negotiating for the women. Billie Jean King was really tough advocate and a strong personality who led the charge for women and tennis. The WNBA needs a personality like her. Cheryl Miller could be that person?

I think it’s going to be a great game. I do think team w can pull of the win. It’s so much talent on both teams it’s going to be crazy.
For me, Arike is one of those players that's impossible to ignore! Just like CC. She doesn't need the media spotlight? Or cause some drama on social media to create some manufactured beef? She lets her game do all the talking on court! And I really respect that!

I believe the WNBA should pay more attention to rookies on a year-to-year basis in order to expand its fan base. The upcoming rookie class will be no exception. By providing playing time to these rookies, the WNBA can achieve unprecedented growth and reach.

This is a true statement.
The WNBA has been promoting the "right people". Even when they were not popular. Brittney Grinder is the best example because oversize players are not reliable. being able to stand and just shoot over everyone with less effort. doesn't translate to play yard. What the younger players are doing is based on the men's game. They are bring that style of play but it get's rejected because that is not the WNBA. The game is not evolving to keep it fun and interesting.

No, it wont. It will say what most people who have been paying attention over the years have been saying, this is not a game that TEAM USA is interested in playing at this stage. There is NO WAY that they will be going hard here and risk injury to any of their players ahead of the Olympics. Why would they do that? To satisfy some idiots? I don't think so. I see them giving it a go for the first half and then shutting down after that.

During this break, Caitlin gonna come back and smoke. She is so focused, and she enjoyed playing with team WNBA. Being able to enjoy the game elavates your game. If you watch all the women who played they were smiling and enjoying that moment. I enjoyed watching the game last night. And yes I believe a Coach can change your mindset. Drama aside, this is a perfect scenario for Team USA’s Olympic prep. They get a full exhibition game to try different player combos against an opponent with as much talent, depth, and motivation as could be assembled anywhere in the world.
I would love to see a late announcement that Reeve is sick and Christie Sides is filling in. Team USA would get clobbered.

Great post and someone gets it! She has been saying that for weeks, "I don't want to take attention away from the players." CC has done her part to bring attention, and the players are doing theirs to take advantage of the opportunity. 40% growth in viewership means it's working.
No she didn't. According to Clark, she skipped it to get rest. No altruistic reasons, just practical self-care.
Maybe, but Team USA has a defensive edge. Who is CC going to guard? There are no scrubs to assign her on the USA team. Mitchell is better defensively, but only average. Arika and McBride are excellent defenders so hopefully they play at least 25 minutes each. Wilson and Collier are going to be tough to score on in the post. Very tough. I don’t think Team USA is as injured as some would like to believe. I’d like to see the all stars do it but I don’t believe they will. I’m taking Team USA by 12. Aja gets most outstanding player.

I am not sure about it being more competitive. I think it will all come down to what mind set that TEAM USA comes with. If they take the game serious, then it will be competitive but if they see it as just another practice before Paris then it will not really be. Based on what I have heard the players saying leading up to this game, Team USA is all about getting to Paris to win the gold medal and are not really interested to play this game.
2.2 B over 11 years is not enough. However, I wonder what they would have gotten without the big NBA hammer negotiating.

Completely goes against what seemed to be the spirit of the Team USA program. not satisfied with tying some of her teammates, this trip will cement her attendance record as unattainable. Clarkwill have to go to the Olympics at 46 to tie the standing record. It just doesn't seem to be an Olympic thing to do, smells more like the UConn locker room than Team USA. But Clark's changed women's basketball for sure. Nothing matters anymore. Records dont mean anything, and the things Team USA youth coaches suggested players do to have a chance at this year's team, like gold medalist Aliyah Boston winning a national championship. or Clark's phenomenal career in the NCAA. The whole thing stinks. Aliyah Caitlin and Sabrina, look like a pretty good group of rookie Olympians to me.

As it stands team usa doesn't represent our country, this is the second time they rejected young players for less effective older players, with more loyalty to certain players than the team aka country. It would be more patriotic to turn them down than represent them.

I am willing to bet that Team USA is not as motivated as the WNBA All-Star team because let us be real, they have 'bigger fish to fry' in a few weeks. Listening to Aja and a few others weeks ago, you could tell they just want to get to Paris and win the gold medal. If they play like how they are accustomed to playing which is just for fun, then yes the All-Star team will win and people might want to read more into it but I wont. I do not expect Team USA to put itself all out there and risk any injury for a game that has no reward.
It will be a slap on the face of Cheryl Reeve if team WNBA beats the U. S. Team. I think there will be a complete overhaul of the Team USA.

When the WNBA can put out a product without the NBA- meaning when they can actually make money(revenue in the positive)without the NBA then I definitely think it’s fair for them to negotiate there own deal. They need a new marketing strategy team to make the WNBA more out there for people to come to the games and the women players need to be honest with themselves too. I’m tired of hearing the excuses..

I remember when German mens soccer team also went with their older players with more experience instead of bringing younger players. They were most experienced team on the field. Didn’t work out well when all the other teams were faster and when they got possession tge German players couldn’t catch them.
How Taurasi played up her three national championships. Ok we can’t deny that. But she conveniently forgot the championships they won before her and after she left. UConn has always been a powerhouse team. She was in a good team and yes let’s say team. She did not win those individually
You don’t have to like that she’s on the team, but let’s not pretend as if DT wasn’t a phenomenal player. Check her resume. She’s a legend without question. She’s the one person on the team, who’s been to multiple Olympics. I think two other players have been to 2-3 Olympics and the rest this is their first.

This game has all the makings of a very strong WE told you moment, a game where the US Team management and the WNBA, might just be shown how much of the disrespect shown to Clark and others by them is not warranted at all and might just show how stupid they are.

I would love to see World basketball to adopt the old Figure Skating to have two teams to the World Championship if they were the last Champion. It meant once the country won the Gold Cup then the next tournament their country will allow to assemble 2 teams to go to the tournament. USA 1 and USA 2 ... like downhill sledging.... That would be lovely to see USA won both Gold and Silver and it meant they are LOADED with talents....
the LEAGUE needs broadcasting deals, the team owners need attendance. I believe around half of the teams operate at a profit, I don't understand how they survive if they don't. Of course the NBA props up the WNBA, aint like they founded it. Hey let's give up!
