It's solid analysis as a CC fan. Not a lot of people like her because she's white, but from a particular background that is humble and got where she is from a competitive intuition, not a network of previously formed connections. What you say is right, it'd be nice to see more black and brown girls from backgrounds that make them fight to become something like a professional basketball player, because let's be real, these opportunities are completely out of reach for those who want them. Cam Brink doesn't get the same looks as CC from media and fans even having literal looks and connections to Steph Curry making her good. CC is different from her. Having a close friendship with an Iowan in high school whose family moved back after she finished college and brother finished high school, CC reminds me of their strong basketball culture in the most rural places and the more accepting nature rural white people can have towards black and brown people despite trolls and what media shows.

All this intentional fouling needs to stop and the WNBA needs to take responsibility and take care of that. Carter should have been taken out of the game and suspended per the foul rules. Referee needs to be suspended for not making the correct call. They know the foul rules. There is another issue here that no one is recognizing or talking about. Carter has been dismissed from several teams for misconduct. Carter has a mental issue. The young woman needs some help. Does her coach really care about her as a person, or is it all about the game? Mental illness is an epidemic in this country and now coach step up and help the young woman

NO MORE broadcasting of a Public Struggle-Abuse Session. Because that is what this is. This isn't sport - this is emotional and even physical abuse, streaming live. Caitlin has hateful, vitriolic, gross, bigoted, perverse, cruel things said targeting her, her family, her school, her state. This hate,, that is being poured onto one person who did NO harm, brought the joy of sport to millions, and even focuses fortune from her fame to charity, is all over the social media, the media, in stadiums, and even on the courts where she plays. No one should have to suffer that. Now, as if that was not enough, she has been shoved, grabbed, hit in the head, blindsided - all things that would warrant some justice if done to someone elsewhere in public. All things that would be considered abuse or assault. But Caitlin is just supposed to ''take it'', while millions of people watch. It is institutionalized Abuse and each year the rookie young women are ''broken'' to succumb to the abuse they must first suffer, and later deliver when they become abusers. This isn't being ''physical'' - this is targeted violence on public display. People will cite that she ''chooses'' it, or she ''smiles". Of course the exact same things are said about abuse victims. Life/human circumstance limits them, that is how abuse happens. To have this broadcast by a major sport's organization, and media, with no immediate demand to reform - It's disgusting, shameful, and perverse. The 5'8" phenom scored 1,062 points her senior year in college. (Caitlin Clark scored 1,055 as a junior and 1,234 as a college senior.) Playing hurt can destroy your career and getting hurt can be someone else's fault. Women in general are not built for contact sports. They have less cushioning of their brain compared to men and are more susceptible to traumatic brain injury. They are twice to six times more likely to suffer ACL knee tears. Clark needs to protect herself .... We can also see that, while many of these women are as tall or taller than most men, their balance isn't anywhere as good. There are MANY physiological and psychological differences to note - a few key ones include men's superior muscle mass - which protects against injury, men's greater bone density - the actual strength of the bones, men's larger tendonss - which is why women tear more ACLs, men have higher endurance - more oxygen, resist fatigue which protects against injury, men's structure such as wider shoulders affords more ability to engage in conflict. Just as significant, men tend to have more neuromuscular control - coordination is superior and a higher resistance to pain and to reacting to pain overtly. The WNBA has women with very tall/large bodies creating a lot of leverage yet overall they don't have increased capacities in other areas that would allow them to better contend with the greater force created by theri heigh and the other issues noted. Right now we are seeing women ''fouling'' (or assualting) each other more than we men doing (in the NBA). This leads to a degradation in the quality of the game, high levels of frustration and retaliation, alienation of the fans who mostly don't want to see negative play, and most of all high levels of injury.

In the ''reframing'' talks about Clark, we lose the ''proportion''. THere is a strawman that people have been saying ''bow down to'', "worship", "the whole WNBA" etc. - if we are going to speak truth about this, we can say that some of the new fans are ignoring other players. We can say that some of the new fans focus only on Clark - and this makes ZERO sense because b-ball isn't a 1 person show. ALL of the players need each other (always at least 10 on the floor) so they can both play together and against each other. But, to be fair. No one has ever effected a sport to the degree that Clark has changed wbb. No one. Her influence is...truly record breaking. But.... that isn't the Topic. (What is the topic?) The topic(s) primarily are about Ignoring other players and Abuse of Clark. Both of these things are extremely negative. = As noted, it doesnt make sense to ignore all other players because Clark NEEDS her contemporaries and she stands on the shoulders of those who came before. This is not a solo ballet performance. This is a team sport. SHe is a super great player on a team playing teams. It is harmful to talk like she is the ONE and to ignore all others. . . But, even worse is the Abuse of Clark. She has suffered mental, emotional, and physical abuse. We are not talking about contrary opinions, or trash talk, or physica play. - She travels with full time security. She can't touch social media. On the court she is INTENTIONALLY blindsided, hit in the head. She also endures a mountain of people criticizing her for being ''white''. People put words in her mouth and then condemn her for that. Many people simply and directly insult her - her play, her background, her appearance, in degrading ways. SO we end up on a vicious circle. People say Clark is great - or ''the best''. This can come across as over the top. It doesn't harm anyone but it is annoying to some, even offensive. Then the offended (or trolls) start throwing barbs at Clark, and her fans. Her fans then say stop it, your behavior (and those players you cheer) is actually poor sportsmanship. BUT , hiding in both sides are those trolls who will say some dirty and mean things. Finally the floodgates open and the negative people dump all of their trash. We can easily step out of this. We just need to be adult and to tell (those acting like) children to sit down. But in the end, for now, we need to keep in mind that Clark is one young woman. She needs to be protected first off, because we CANNOT let one woman be bashed - publicly - either emotionally or physically. This is MORE important than any sense of perspective and proportional recognition which might offend many - who at least are a group who can lean on each other in their unhappy feelings and whom one young woman could Never Hurt The Group (and Clark doesn't want to hurt anyone - in fact she wants to share success and even benefit kids, charities...). If the group of WNBA players won't protect her, then it is our duty, not as fans, but as people in a civil society, to pull together and do so for her - (as we did for Tiger in the late 90s).

That was a foul by Reese - what people are mistaking is the arms for the legs. Reeses arm just finished but it was her hip check that threw Clark off balance. She forces her hip/back so hard into Clark that her front leg lifts on the ground as she shifts all of the weight and momentum into Clark. Reese both outweighs and out leverages Clark so of course she would be off balance, then Reese adds an arm flick to finish tipping Clark and then yells at her when on the floor. That's a T in the NBA, and for good reason - 1. It's unsportsmanlike 2. So things don't escalate. - Of course the Chenady hit was way more egregious. Unpunished, this becomes the league giving a green light to hunt Clark. We are seeing group-blood-lust mentality here, spreading between teams. (This is always a part of human nature, hence allegories like Lord of the Flies - which are meant to give us a reflection on our values in real life when we see these tendencies arise.) - Sadly, it does not appear that Reese has any intention of turning toward Goodness and is opting for more negative attention. - The best thing for the Sky would be to trade Reese, Cordosa (who has shown violent standards for years), and Chenady. This way the team is dragged down into the type of in-fighting and outward-fighting that plagued both LSU and uSC.
