I doubt she got more than Caitlin who started at $76,000. She could top that without much trouble in industry. She is bright, beautiful, an excellent player and massive aggression. Her aggression is self channeled in a great way within and wonderful to see her play. She isn't a gutter snipe with it like the clowns on the Sky and Thomas on the Sun. They are losers regardless of their stats.

The real secret: Lexie has found her twin sister (Lacie Hull) in Caitlin Clark. The twin sisters had been played together as kids and at Stanford University. Lexie said Lacie routinely beat her and she cried so hard to get Lacie to play her again and again after the losses. I believe she missed her sister (Lacie chose Ebay over the WNBA after their graduation) and Caitlin stepped in to fulfill that role and brought back her confidence. Hence, the half kidding revelation from CC: "She's been hanging around me..." when asked of Lexie Hull tremendous performance. Imagine if the twins both play for the Fever with CC? They sure would be a force to be reckoned with.

    Caitlin Clark
Until stumbling over a news item, I had less than no interest in women's basketball, at any level.
    .
One Second of seeing CC-22 impersonating Stephen Curry hooked me! The second second and I realized Caitlin Clark wasn't copying anybody!
    .
Because what I know is based on clips showing her shooting half-court 3-pointers and making magical passes, reminiscent of Magic Johnson to Kareem when everyone in the stadium and home in front of their television KNEW the Sky-Hook was coming and nobody could stop it, I see patterns where the playing style of CC-22 is changing the team. Boston figured out that all she has to do is get below the basket, stick out a mitt and the basketball would appear in it.
    .
Anyway, I think she is playing perfectly, playing her game and letting the team adjust to things like having a pass actually come to them, and supporting each others play. I think I see a team in name becoming a team in practice.

Watching them play as a team has been so much fun. This has been my first year watching the WNBA. I started watching Caitlyn Clark and followed her as she moved into professional sports. It bothered me when I saw her teammates playing as individuals. Once they started playing as a team, at the pace they play has been so enjoyable to watch. I told my husband a few weeks ago that if they play like that, they will be able to beat any team. I mean, how often do you see an opposing player make 8 three-pointers and then turn around and lose that game? I hope their confidence and team play continue throughout the playoffs.

I went back and looked at Lexi in high school and collage, she was a very good player. She was the star player at Stanford when they won a national championship. I think she was at a loss and missed her twin sister Lacie who was her best friend and teammate at Stanford University. The sisters had played together since kids, and Lacie was a better player who routinely beat Lexie. Lexie said she cried so hard and begged Lacie to play her again and again until she won. After graduation, Lacie chose Ebay over WNBA. Lexie got picked on the 6th round, but she was not playing well and not playing much... until CC comes around and substitutes as her sister Lacie. CC and Lexie are now very close... and I think that has got their games going with CC building the confidence for Lexie and the entire team. Mitchell was the same way. She did not explode with scores on the floor until CC got the team together and opened up their potentials with their confidence. Even their coach has pretty much said that.

I started watching the Fever, and Lexie Hull has been amazing, not only her shooting but especially with her passing and defensive skills, which showcase her fantastic hand-eye coordination and awareness. As for Caitlin Clarke, it seems like the lack of recognition for her skills stems from some frustration among the senior players. They mockingly claimed she needed a "breaking in" period because she’s playing with the pros now. They wanted her to "pay her dues" and respect the hierarchy, bowing down to the seniors for at least her first season, as all rookies are expected to. Clearly, CC didn’t get that memo, and that’s why so many people including large areas of the media were turning against her-she challenged their entire belief system and reputations.

No one likes the thug atmosphere of this welfare league and Caitlin has brought attention to the W and these fools are exposing why they have never been relevant nor earned their pay ! Great commentary, as usual. CC is making the Fever look like the 1986 Celtics. Everyone is involved. Everyone is scoring. Everyone is moving. Very difficult to defend ALL the team at one time. Cc is also doing for the Fever what Magic did for the Lakers. The Fever could be playoff contenders for many years. The WNBA has needed this for 25 years.

Thanks for this talk of the changes. You focused on the changes from the outside shooters. But there is another change that I believe is helping them. Boston has really developed into a force in the paint and changed her game as a part of the development. She can still back the ball in close and score. She has also improved her shooting from outside. But as defenses collapse on her when she gets the ball, she now sees the open players on the outside. Her assists are becoming a big part of the game. With Boston in the paint, Hull, Mitchel and Clark on the arc, and the entire court a potential scoring threat, defenses have to make choices. When the defense commits, someone is open. And I haven't discussed Fagbenle or Dantas. Go ahead, leave them open for a moment....

    • @alexleanh

Yes, I strongly believe Boston and Smith are the subtle threats which are super effective whenever they are present on court. They stepped up and delivered when most needed and most counted. They deserve more recognition and credit for their contribution.

Past few years of being 1 of worst teams in league allowed to draft top players in draft! And most basketball fans & pundits knew once Fever really became a team, being confident with all teammates this team would become one of the best in WNBA! Clark is a generational talent & who you want to build a franchise around (as some rookies will be in next 1-3years). The fact that scoring threat is beyond
Boston, Clark & Mitchell ( arguably the best backcourt duo in league right now) just makes them so dangerous! Add Lexi & Boston playing great defensively and the Fever will have as good a chance as any team in playoffs to go deep and win the league!

Lexi is what they dubbed years ago in the NBA as a "3 & D." Their job is to guard the other team's best player (if they're a 2 or a 3, sometimes a 4), and the stretch the floor offensively by hitting 3-pointers. They have no other main responsibilities. Lexi is doing a great job now that she has a floor general.

This is the same thing CC did with her Hawkeye team. With CC at the point, she helps her team work together and improve their court play. They are truly fun to watch. The Olympic break was the best thing that happened to the Fever. It looks like this break helped them to rest, regroup, train, and bond together as a team. I look forward to seeing them in the WNBA playoffs. 😊

In Lexie's Junior year at Stanford the Sweet Sixteen was in her home town of Spokane. Stanford was trailing by I think 15 at halftime to Kansas State at home. Lexie hit five threes in the second half and Stanford won going away. She had 36 points. In her first year in the W I kept silently urging her to start shooting - knowing her career would be short if she didn't. Hard to make a career in this league with hustle and defense. Somehow I think Caitlin got her to start shooting and she's refound her confidence this season. This girl is pure gold and I've been a big fan for years. It was no coincidence that she was a starter on Stanford's first National Championship team in fifty years in 2021.

I don’t think either is the “bigger” reason, Kelsey is the 2 guard (shooter) and it takes pressure off of Caitlin who is the point guard. The reason they’ve been on a tear is in large part due to the complimentary play of the two. Trying to say one is a bigger reason is counterproductive, let’s just be thankful for them and the top 8 players.

Every great championship team needs a Lexi Hull. That is someone who doesn’t mind mixing it up with opposing teams on defense who gets down and does mostly unsung dirty work.
I remember when Pat Riley was that force on 70s Laker teams. In the 80s there was Kurt Rambis who was the 0:20 Showtime Lakers defensive force who was often the instigator that stole the ball and made the outlet pass that started the fast break. “Sexy Lexi” as her teammates call her, has beautifully taken up that role on the Fever.

Whoever they get in the first game will be loaded with seasoned top players. For the Fever there are three possibilities. They will be hot, play their average great game or be off that night .
