    I was doing this the other day and when the props where almost off and my thumb slipped up and hit the prop.
    I learned my lesson

      We did this the other day too when we were filming a video about the Phantom 3 Standard, fortunately nothing happened (and it shouldn't if you're careful). I also think this is definitely easier with a Phantom, a big drone also has its benefits (as I said in that video btw). And before I forget: Great video Carson!

      Cool with the landing. Looks easier to do after you've actually seen the example. I think you just saved a few injuries with this video; Speaking for myself anyway.... Touche' I have one just like yours. Exceptional value in my opinion..

    • @viewtx8233
      @viewtx8233 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      One more thing. If you get these things in the fog, be careful. They don't like that. I realized this after I saw what appeared to be DEW on the top part of the drone. The humidity level caused the (control board) to try to randomly take off and fly towards me. (I'm just glad it happened on the ground so I could take it inside and let it have some A/C. to dry overnight instead of watching it crash..) I was able to contain it because it was close to me when it got irratic, but I will never , and I didn't realize that low clouds are ALSO fog, fly in the fog again. NOT a good idea and watch for low clouds that seem to be coming in. That's basically fog. lol I learned the hard way. Hope this helps. Best wishes all. I still say you saved some injuries here, though many will argue. You can't fix stupid is what Larry the Cable Guy says. They ruin it for everyone most of the time.

    I was just looking at the Gimbal protectors and Leg extenders for my P3 Std & noticed a Gimbal Protector on yours. Have you made any vids reviewing either of those I mentioned? My specific concern is being able to use BOTH or whether one would interfere with the other. I also see in numbers reviews users saying they have to sand or cut or drill to make things fit or to prevent interference with the gimbal movement while others say it doesn't interfere right out of the box. Thanks for all the great videos!

    You should point out that if in the US and flying Part 101, touching the AC during flight is against the documentation in AMA's Safety Handbook which means the flight would default to a Part 107 flight. In other words, technically, you're not permitted to hand-catch if flying Part 101.

    • @carsonmtech
      @carsonmtech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never before heard of drones being covered under Part 101. Upon a quick glance, it does not appear to apply to drones whatsoever. Part 107 was created explicitly for sUAS’s (drones/small remote controlled aircraft). Do you have any reference of where Part 101 could ever be applicable to drones? I’d be interested in seeing it if there is! Cheers!

    • @markennes5208
      @markennes5208 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't understand your post. If you fly in the US as a hobbyist, you're almost certainly flying under Sec 336/Part 101. Every recreational pilot should know this. forum.dji.com/thread-122782-1-1.html

    • @carsonmtech
      @carsonmtech  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I was confused at first when I originally searched what you meant as well. I am a certified Part 107 holder and even while studying, I had never heard of Section 336 being called “Part 101.” Even on the FAA website (faadronezone.faa.gov), they use the terminology of ‘Section 336,” rather than Part 101. They likely do so to diffuse confusion that may occur between referencing Party 101 and 107 as just happened with me.
      Anyways, with the original concern of your comment, it appears to me that the “hand catching” which does violate a section of the AMA’s safety handbook, has lots of conflicts with Section 336. I’m not sure if the FAA requires you to follow everything in the AMA considering there are other CBO’s out there as well.
      I also do want to mention that shouldn’t this now be down to the companies who produce these drones? DJI, for example, has numerous drones now that can be landed in your palm. They market their drones that are capable of doing hand launches/catches (for the most part) towards hobby flyers. If hand catching and launching is against Section 336, wouldn’t the FAA had of went for big companies like DJI and made them disable such features by now?

    • @markennes5208
      @markennes5208 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The existence of Section 336 has nothing to do with FAA. The 112th US Congress enacted the legislation in 2012 and it's obvious it was created through lobbying by the AMA. It was created to protect us (pilots) from them (FAA). It was created to keep the FAA at bay regarding hobbyists. But FAA can use it to "pursue enforcement action" against pilots, since all model pilots must be able to "show" that they abide by a nationwide CBO's Safety Guidelines. There's only one nationwide CBO that I'm aware of. Drone attorneys agree. Do you know of a second one? What nationwide CBO's Safety Guidelines do you fly under when flying your model?
