I don't need a phantom 4 I own a phantom 3 professional and with the Litchi app, I can get miles on waypoints I even fly out of signal lost, it estimates the time the mission will take, I can go on and on, but thanks again guy. best app ever
Active track without obstacle avoidance is useless, that and the 10' radar vs 30' and finally dual IMU and compass compared to the P3P, I'll stay with my decision to return the P3 and love my P4 By the way, I flew over 3 miles in a lousy with wiFi area teaming with noise, I can outfly the battery, and when I land in back yard while sitting in AC, the obstacle avoidance radar assist in instrument landing with distance markers on screen, and knowing altitude from 25' up vs having to be within 3 meters, is also huge. I can see why upgrading for some ppl isn't really worth it, to me and others it is/was. To be fair I have 4 different antenna setups, and Sunhans amps and other goodies like ultra low loss cables for signals, but I have 2 million feet traveled in 4 months, 1 million in last 2 weeks, knock on wood my P3 flew awesome, and my P4 flies when better, with marginally better camera, and sport mode with real Active trac makes it a better deal the the typhoon H, which I like to
I'd like to set something up similar to what you have going on, I currently have a DJI Inspire and a Phantom 3 standard. Can you let me in on what equipment you're using? Still learning all this stuff, and speaking to the experienced people helps me to learn, so I'm all ears.
Ifrostify ok you just said it takes 15 minutes ine,way flight if that is true then a,round trip would be 30 minutes depending on the wind witch is not possible with the fantom professional or standards I barely get that with my fantom 4 .also by sending it on a mission means you have no signal and no control so there is no way from keeping it from running into something because you have no sensors on the front only the bottom .very dangerous. But with the fantom 4 I get great range and have full control in case something happens but the sensors on the front helps it to avoid things and fly up and over them
+Techy Agent upgrading to the Phantom 4 is not worth it I cannot get my Phantom to go 1 mile, half a mile and I lose signal every time I am very disappointed in the Phantom 4 and its distance claim bull. if you have any tips to get me some distance I would really appreciate it thank you and God bless.
+steve espinoza Do you still see your drone if it is half a mile away? Because in most countries it is only allowed to fly it within line of sight, which makes sense, because you don't want to be responsible for the death of people, if your done causes a helicopter crash or car traffic accident.
+Sorry Dude the suburbs of Los Angeles California. I have the Phantom 3 advanced and that one goes an honest mile and a half. the Phantom 4 has trouble going a half a mile. I know it is the connection between the radio and the Phantom because I have full bars on my iPad Air 2.
I like this guys bcuz he actually understand that ther is a lot of things the phantom 3 has instead of the phantom 4 and with this app it makes it become a phantom 4 or just like but still with this persons help he makes ur drone better. So later and piece to all later
+Techy Agent Cool... I just worry--I have the Phantom 2V+, Iris, 3DR Solo--I think there is more tech development that is needed. I suspect we will see a leap this summer. Fingers crossed.
I could only imagine your anticipation when waiting on your P3 to show up on a waypoint mission! 👍 Great info about the P3 continuing it's mission when the P3 losses signal.
Wow you're right it is extremely reckless using the waypoint missions. Any number of things could happen mid flight and with no one at the controls disastrous things can happen. I personally only fly within line of sight for safety reasons. I really don't think Litchi should be creating software that could potentially be such a danger. The what ifs are far to great in this case. I just wish everyone could understand the importance of flying within the FAA guidelines. If we don't play by the rules soon we won't be able to play at all.
You can easily take control back by just flipping to switch from F to P. This will stop the waypoint mission and just hover there and you have control of it again.
+Chad Wade True but if you are outside of the video transmission range how would you know trouble is about to happen? I'm only speaking of those that do long range flights passed their line of site and outside of their signal range. This capability of the app is very reckless and irresponsible. It would be one thing if the mission is programmed over a baron landscape or water. Worse that can happen is you lose you drone but people are mapping mission over populated areas where anything can happen. It's just not safe and the fail safe of flipping switch does nothing when you can't see what is going on.
That is true. I agree with you. Just setting a mission where you don't have visual contact is reckless because you can't see what your drone is doing. I always keep visual contact with my drone when I sett up my mission with Litchi. That way flipping the switch you can take control.
+Chad Wade I know there are a lot of responsible pilots like yourself out there unfortunately there are way to many irresponsible pilots too. It's only gonna take one big accident for use all to suffer the consequences. I myself also only fly within line of sight and I don't think my videos suffer at all. In some cases I've started filming in one area and then moved to a second to be able to capture more footage. Check out some of my videos and I'll check out some of yours.
This is truly a GREAT Video! I've not seen new original content for a long time. You have made a VERY compelling argument. I myself own a Phantom 3 Pro, and I've decided NOT to buy another drone until they have truly perfected 360-degree obstacle avoidance. I was familiar with Litchi before seeing your video and I think it's one of the best apps hands down. You did not mention this but with Litchi you can do even MORE than the Phantom 4, it's got so many new functions. I know this video was made in 2016 but keep up the good work brother!
+Joe Glenn Thanks! I've honestly tapered off drone reviews on this channel because I want to keep the focus on mostly health and fitness technology, BUT we did just launch a brand-new channel that will cover more drone related tech (and other tech) in a new channel "Techy Neon". If you watch the latest video on this channel, you'll get some details as well as a link to the new channel. Feel free to check out the new channel!
Great video. I was looking into getting a Phantom 4, as an upgrade to my Phantom 3 Standard... but you have some valid points. I might buy the app you talk of, despite it being £20, which is a lot, and i may not use all the features that the app boasts. But ye, thanks for this video :)
He failed to mention the range/ signal is improved on the P3/adv & pro and also the P4, because they use lightbridge. Litchi doesn't replace that. Its not even a good alternative to 'enhance' the P3 standard. If you want more 'bang for your buck', consider flipping your Standard for an Advanced or higher on ebay. Way better option then flying blind with litchi like this tool suggests! Ive flown over 2.175 miles out with full signal (using litchi only to bypass the distance limit of the dji go app). But you need the hardware, before you can fully utilize the software. Basic Computing 101!
+Techy Agent what is the range of the p3a and p3p?i have a p2v+ and it only gets out to about 300feet really sux at times when i need it to go further.. so in saying that i am contemplating on getting a p3p or a p4 but i am confused on which one to get.
+acgkplh thanx for the reply mate, they are alot cheaper too and I have the litchi app so I should be able to do most things the p4 can do,don't need 4k and the safety features are a bonus in the p4 but thats something that can wait... I don't care about how high I go just need the distance... thanks again 😊
I'm debating getting the mid level P3 so I have lightbridge as the connection. The 4 seems like it has a bunch of stuff I don't need. Plus that app seems to tackle some of that if I change my mind.
Get a P4. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. The camera is better, battery life is better, sensors are better, redundant gps and imu to avoid connection issues, longer range ( not a 1 way mission). Litchi is ok, but not as refined as DJI Go.
+Sean Ozz do what you feel is right for you and your budget. The P3 Lightbridge range is actually starting to show that it is better than the P4 range, at least according to preliminary tests done by other TH-cam reviewers. The Litchi app isn't as refined, but it offers more. Plus, why not use both apps depending on the context. For me, whenever I want to have manual control, I use the DJI GO app. Whenever I want to use an automated feature, I use the Litchi app
+Techy Agent BTW you can fly a one way mission on the P4. But thats really not a 'feature'. Its what unsafe amateur flyers do. Thats what the FAA would love! A bunch of quads flying one way missions! Lol!
Hi there, so I have the one-plus 6 and the phantom 3 standard. But the dji go app's live feed is very choppy on my phone. And was wondering if buying the litchi app I wouldn't have this problem? Thanks!
These things are cool right? I must confess... a friend gave me a phantom 3 pro and a 4 pro and I thought I wouldn't really care too much for them. But after using them I am hooked! these things are fun!
Thanks for explaining the app. I do have have a question though, I have a Phantom 4 and sometimes the dji go 4 app records ambient sound and I can't figure out why. Thanks.
So when you sent if off to land at your work, how did you end that point? Did you enter the address in the GPS, or zoom in and click a "dot" or something. In other words, how were you confident you set the way/end point correctly? How far was it from you when you took control back over?
+Quint Randle good question: I actually didn't set it to land where I work. Instead, I set it to hover about 200 meters above my work parking lot. I drove to work and within a matter of about five minutes the drone arrived hovered. I used my controller to regain manual control, and then I landed manually.
I was able to time everything precisely because the app lets you know how many minutes the mission should take. That way you'll know if you have enough battery life and you can also plan on meeting it at the end point to regain control
Hi, would you know why when I open the litchi app on my iPad mini it doesn't show the blue dot of my location. And the location beacon is on, on my iPad mini. It shows up on my regular iPad but the not the mini. Any suggestions
+articair1 yep, I can answer that: The iPad mini (non-4g version) does not have a built-in GPS chip like the regular iPad. So you don't see the dot of your location because the iPad mini doesn't have any way to know that information. If you get an iPad mini that has 4g abilities, those have GPS chips, and will work. You can tell if your iPad mini has 4G service by whether or not it has a plastic bar at the top of it on the backside: www.google.com/search?q=ipad+mini+without+gps+vs&rlz=1C9BKJA_enUS613US613&hl=en-US&prmd=vsni&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiq3-KdlI3OAhWFkh4KHYEdAp0Q_AUICigE&biw=768&bih=909#imgrc=0GwrIJcLnD7xeM%3A
so, you set a waypoint and flew it to work.. said it was about 4 miles... so, did you just start the mission, then take your remote to work and land it when it got there?? thanks
Nice Video. I have a Phantom 3 SE that flys for a minute and falls to the ground after the motors stops suddenly. Camera was damaged a while ago so i removed it and the gimble is still connected to the drone properly secured and wired. Is there a fix for this or is this a common problem or is it because the the camera is detached. Any help from anyone would be fantastic.Subscribed
I was not sure if Litchi was a good option. It was frustrating DJI go sometimes... You just helped me clear those daubts. Excellent info. Thanks for that!
just got a phantom 3 standard, working my way up.... got it off of offerup for 200 bucks and it only needed 2 props and 2 stabilizers. It also came WITH an aluminum case for it all which was AMAZING! This is easily one of the best purchases and upgrdes I have gotten. The video quality is impecible for the price point. Just all around. Yes I tried to get one cheaper... this was the best bang for buck I could get.
Was your gimbal damaged? Sounds like a hardware issue. Can you manually rotate the camera downward when the drone is off? Does it feel sticky or locked in place?
Can you fly the dji 3 without the remote and using the app only? If i go surfing can i leave the remote at my house and put my iphone in my waterproof case and take it out surfing ? can i land and take off with the app? thanks
I love "Waypoint" with my Litchi controlled P3S!!! I also have the ARGtek antennas system, so my P3S will do anything I want now, within the 20 minutes the battery will last that is. I use topo maps of my area to make sure I don't crash into something while it's on a "Mission". I haven't tried the RTG thing yet, but maybe the Summer of 2018. A friend of mine has had the P3S and switched to a 4K P4P since he uses it for filming commercials on TV. He wishes he hadn't sold his P3S because of all the fun he had with it! He's also been telling me the tricks and tips he used with his Litchi controlled P3S, like "Course Lock" and Home Lock" for the earlier filming he did. I, of course, don't film commercials, I just love to see the world from a "Birds Eye View"! I bought a refurbished P3S just before Christmas of 2017 for only $398 and it's been perfect! Does anything I want with the Litchi app that I paid $24.99 for just before Christmas too! I watched this video back in November of 2017 and it was a BIG part of my research into the DJI drones. I didn't comment back then, but I am now to tell you ... Thank you for making this video, it pretty much made my mind up to go for the lower cost P3S instead of going into debit with a much more expensive drone. Keep up the good work!
One more question! and thanks for all your fast responses... when you fly a waypoint mission, and it loses video signal cause its out of range, does it still record the mission?? and you just can view it at the time?
Does the focus lock actually move when the pilot moves forward or does it just stay stationary? This is a question that me and some others have about this software.
+Anthony Johnson I have only been able to make it "follow" while it tracks if I make it orbit me (or whatever im tracking). When it is orbiting, it is able to follow your movement. I haven't been able to get a static camera hold/focus while it follows yet, but I've only been playing around with this feature for a couple of days, so it may be able to do it, and I just don't how. The app has a little bit of a learning curve. Fortunately, they have a drone simulator built in on the app so you can play around with the features without risking your drone.
Ok that great it have flight simulator. I have the Phantom 3 Advanced I'm glad I seen your video because I was thinking about getting them 4 just for that reason.
I use my iphone, but yes. My understanding is that gps is a requirement on your tablet or phone for that feature to work. wifi needs to be enabled because that's how the phone/tablet communicates to the controller (it uses a closed wifi connection)
Not sure if someone has already mentioned or not but the Tracking on Litchi doesn't fly the phantom automatically. The app only do yawning and gimbal pitch. You still have to manually control the phantom.
+Jeffrey Fu there is a way you can trick it with the orbit feature. You can tell it to orbit the object it's tracking, and as you move, it does follow you
I guess you're not fully understanding my question. The DJI Go app has a limit of 500 meter or 1641.4 ft. Does the Lithchi app let you go further than the DJI Go app does?
In case you miss the correction in the video, the Phantom 3 Pro and Advanced have equal or GREATER range than the P4. I agree a lot with his assessments. the camera is not better enough and I would rather have the obstacle avoidance feature in the sides or rear.... I can see fine in the front. I am sure the "P5" will have 360 degree avoidance... and that will be very useful.
just an FYI, Phantom 3 Advanced and Pro both have lightbridge, and a rated range of 5km (3.2ish miles) Obstacle avoidance technology is also a great feature of the P4. I own both personally, the P3 Advanced and the P4.
+Techy Agent it depends on the user experience. my P4 gets the same distances as my P3 Advanced, BUT the P3 gets better distances in a more "in town" type environment than the P4. P4 appears to be affected by congested / populated areas when it comes to range. When I performed some tests out of town in the country they were identical in range, but the P3 won in town, beating the he P4 by several thousand feet.
+Techy Agent one other thing, thanks for the info, because I truly never searched on what litchi can do, and wasn't one for using 3rd party apps, but your video has changed my mind! one big reason for buying the phantom 4 was active track and OAS, I had no idea you could "active track" in litchi with a P3! thanks again agenda keep up the good work.

+Tom Coffel (TC) cool, thanks for your detailed explanation about the p3 vs p4 ranges, that's super helpful. Yeah, if you get the chance, the Litchi app is worth checking out. Happy flying!
+aedan929 In my opinion it is still a good app for older model phantom drones, but if you have anything that is a phantom four or newer, I would recommend using the DJI app
hi Eric. for the follow me feature on the djip3s does the remote have to be in your hand or can you leave it down and the ground and then say cycle off or skate off. thanks Sean
+Sean Murphy good question, you can leave the remote on the ground. That being said, you are relying 100% on the drone to correctly follow you, so if it's flying at a low altitude, it could easily become ensnared in a tree or line, so if you do decide to leave the controller behind, I would recommend flying in an altitude where the drone won't hit anything
The Android version of Litchi has a feature called Magic Leash. You can pair your controllers device with any smart phone using the Magic Leash app. Separate app from the Litchi app and the Phantom or inspire will then follow the smart phone. Gimbal yah and all. :)
thanks for the info. let say if i purchase the app using my android google id. will it appears in my IOS divice too? which is i loged in on apps store using my gmail account that same with an android one? it will be a waste if i need to buy 2 times thanks
+Denny Kurniawan Koee unfortunately if you buy it on android, you have to buy it again for iOS. I wish it wasn't that way, but they haven't changed it yet
This is exactly what I am thinking. I got this for 399. I have been practicing with it and am going to get a Mavic eventually. This drone is such a good deal.
Hey man that was great!! I love it when you can "cheat the system" and get the most out of old tech instead of having to upgrade. I don't personally own one of these but after seeing the shots you've taken I might think about it.
Great video... I'm going to buy the Litchi app now that I can use the way point feature you highlighted. That's awesome! Need to watch this video again, so much great info lol.
Just wondering if your still using this app. I have seen a few videos where ppl have claimed to lose control of their drone due to the app. I would like to use the app but this concerns me a little, I also understand that those situations could of been pilot error. So just wondering if you still use it and have you ever had any bad experiences with it. Thanks
Great video. thanks a lot. can you please let me know what is the case you got for ph3 std? really interested in having one like yours where you don't have to remove the propels!
+Francisco Diaz Here is the case I use: (amzn.to/2eSrFDA). it says that it's designed for the Phantom 2, but it fits the Phantom 3 just fine. It has space for your controller and extra batteries too.
Three years ago, all this was true, and I have the Litchi App and use it. However, I have gone thru 3 Phantom 3 Pro birds. Trees eat them and they don't float. I have decided to piece together a P4P from parts off e-bay. It still won't float, but the trees are going to have to jump to get my drone now.
If I'm flying my phantom 3 standard far away and it loses range does it return to where it landed ? Afraid to fly it too far in case it looses range and goes off happened to me before with a cheaper drone
Thanks for giving me a good review of Litchy. I'm trying to bring a Phantom 3SE back to life. It was given to me by a buddy who no longer wanted it, but it was not in great shape. My biggest issue is finding ANY information on what the Phantom 3SE actually is. DJI doesn't even include it in their software/firmware support pages! Do you have any idea what the SE actually was?
Hi! I am having problem connecting Litchi app to my Phantom 3 standard. I can't see any wifi availability on my IPhone 5s. Please I need your help and advice on what to make this app work. Since you said that you are using this app ith yoiur Phantom 3 standard same as mine. tnk u.
it's only on Litchi app, DJI works well. And I wonder why there is no wifi connection for Litchi which the DJI has. Does Litchi has a wifi or it will only work wit 4g connectivity. Because I haven't tried connecting it yet outside just tried inside the house without GPS. I don't know if this is just a waste of money app. tnx for replying.
+chickboy87 yes, you can leave the remote and your mobile device on the ground, and you don't need the leash app. It will visually track you without any other electronic device
Do you use this app INSTEAD of a DJI app? In other words, can you use this app today in 2022 to fly a phantom 3 that you're having trouble flying with dji apps that don't seem to support the Phantom 3 anymore?
+nbookie yes, I have done them. You will need third party software to arrange the pictures that Litchi takes. But Litchi does have a 360 photo mode that takes several dozen pictures that can be stitched together to make a 360 picture
+Juan R. Garcia They communicate using different signals. The DJI 3 standard uses an amplified (extended) wifi signal to the drone. The DJI pro and advance use a different signal that has significantly better range. The Standard may only get 200-1000 yards away (depending on your surroundings, the weather, etc). The Pro and Advance can get more than a mile out with no problem.
Thanks for this video. It helped me make the decision to buy the Phantom 3 4k. I also bought the Litchi app and it makes the Phantom so versatile. I've had my Phantom 3 4k for about two months now and am completely satisfied with my decision. Thanks again Mike
10-4! I have a Phantom 3 Pro and love the Litchi app. Also for storm chasing and a few other reasons... I keep this drone... As well, the price difference. Kudos on the video!
+JA RD yes, I did see that. It does require someone to open up their controller and have a basic understanding of wiring electronics, or there are some places that will do it for you, you just have to send your controller to them
Can somebody help me please i have the phantom 3 standard and i only have like 40 feet of distance and everything is at full signal but when it reach 41 feet i lost signal i dont have the noob mod and distance limit is off i dont know what is happening help and i suscribe to the channel that helps me and i like all your videos i have 12 accounts
+angel Calderón That sounds like a software (app) problem, not a problem with the signal. Does it actually say "connection lost" or does the drone just stop going out beyond 40 feet?
+Tequila Rojas The case are used says that it's designed for the phantom 2, but it absolutely fits the phantom 3, and you are able to keep the propellers on the quad copter in the case, you don't have to take them off. This is one of the cheapest cases that offers that feature
So will that program by itself be enough for me to show an aerial map overlay on the edited/finished product? My goal is to have that aerial map with location indicator. I havent even chose a video editing program yet, but we have ordered a phantom 3 standard. Or do I need to pick a certain video editing program that works with Litchi? Any recommendations for a beginner to video editing? :) thank you Techy Agent :)
Thanks for the video, i Heard about the long distance range with the litchi app(waypoints) ,i was testing litchi app by my house went great, but yesterday went to a open field and a message keeps popping up when i hit start mission and says "over maximum flight radius" do you know something about this?? I been looking for it i cant find it, and it was a simple mission 4 points , 3 minute mission, thanks
+Techy Agent im using an iPhone, i just reset all the settings and later i will give another try ,lets see, like i said nobody complaints about having issues with litchi besides wrong settings(pilot fault) , thanks for the prompt answer!!!
+Andres Castro you have to connect and open the DJI Go App. Then go into the settings and set it to allow max distance. Then reboot litchi. Should work then. I had the same issue.
Wanting to purchase a Phantom but not sure which model. My main application is taking videos or homes, properties and shore lines. Not so much interested in pleasure flying .... yet. Way Points made prior to flight on a map is function I'm not interested in. Which Phantom functions with Pre Flight Way Points or is that an app? Thanks! I should have waited for the video to finish before posting. Since with the app you are able to send it out on two mile missions so obviously the Mission Path, Way Point would have to be set before flight.
+Billy Barton I use mine for real estate photography a lot. The Phantom 3 Standard (The drone I use) is perfect for that application. The features I use aren't very extensive, because I prefer to use the manual controls for most of my real estate video, but I like the "orbit" feature. That is available on both the Litchi app and the stock DJI app. I feel like the video controls are a little more intuitive on the DJI app, and I can set the recording settings to a very flat and wide video, and then do color correction in postproduction. In this video you can see my little known vlog channel and see some examples like this: th-cam.com/video/WYVcZIJdvu0/w-d-xo.html
Techy Agent Do you mind sharing what your case's name is and/or where it can be found? I got a phantom 3 and I am using the box to transport it which is quite a hassle.
+Rody Davis I think the phantom 3 advanced is probably more than enough quality for most people, but I REALLY like the new Mavic for its portability. I think it's the direction drone tech is going
I think so too. I cant believe how much prices have dropped. I am about to bid on a phantom 3 advanced bundle on ebay for under $600. I think I will upgrade to the mavic pro when there are used ones on the market and the second one is released. Awesome video, keep uploading! I'm working hard to upload weekly on youtube. Ill let you know if I get the drone
I don't need a phantom 4 I own a phantom 3 professional and with the Litchi app, I can get miles on waypoints I even fly out of signal lost, it estimates the time the mission will take, I can go on and on, but thanks again guy. best app ever
Active track without obstacle avoidance is useless, that and the 10' radar vs 30' and finally dual IMU and compass compared to the P3P, I'll stay with my decision to return the P3 and love my P4
By the way, I flew over 3 miles in a lousy with wiFi area teaming with noise, I can outfly the battery, and when I land in back yard while sitting in AC, the obstacle avoidance radar assist in instrument landing with distance markers on screen, and knowing altitude from 25' up vs having to be within 3 meters, is also huge.
Indian Frost hot far away can you fly witgout the litchy app? (in kilometers)
But with the fantom 4 I get great range and have full control in case something happens but the sensors on the front helps it to avoid things and fly up and over them
You go on "missions" ? That is sooooooo cool..
picked my standard up at walmart last night for $369. cant wait to get an antenna upgrade and try out the litichi app. loving it so far.
+Brad Brinegar awesome! Congrats on your purchase!
Brad Brinegar you got it cheap bro. It's still like £400 in U.K.
ikr
seen that sale. think Sam's has that still.
£400 is like $565
Awesome video man. Just purchased a Phantom 3 Standard and you made me feel so much better about my purchase. Thanks!
+Josef Martinez Thanks, happy flying!

+steve espinoza where do you live ? city , rural , ?
+Sorry Dude the suburbs of Los Angeles California. I have the Phantom 3 advanced and that one goes an honest mile and a half. the Phantom 4 has trouble going a half a mile. I know it is the connection between the radio and the Phantom because I have full bars on my iPad Air 2.
Gotta admit these are the best pro and con posts I have read in a long time...very entertaining.
Very well done. Informative.
+Ken Heron thanks Ken

I like this guys bcuz he actually understand that ther is a lot of things the phantom 3 has instead of the phantom 4 and with this app it makes it become a phantom 4 or just like but still with this persons help he makes ur drone better. So later and piece to all later
Do this app work on Phantom 4?
+DoctaM3 yes it does
+Techy Agent Cool... I just worry--I have the Phantom 2V+, Iris, 3DR Solo--I think there is more tech development that is needed. I suspect we will see a leap this summer. Fingers crossed.
Can you live stream to facebook with litchi? I have the p3 advanced but I have used it one time only and I did not look for all features
+J. Adrian Vazquez The last I knew, this feature wasn't offered yet, but I could be wrong
I agree buddy , you make a great point ! Peace
+SlayerX Purington Thanks!
I could only imagine your anticipation when waiting on your P3 to show up on a waypoint mission! 👍 Great info about the P3 continuing it's mission when the P3 losses signal.
+Michael Kincaid yeah, the first time I was pretty nervous. I flew it out over a large field and old steel mill in case it crashed, but it came back.
But the Standard 3 comes with "follow me", "waypoints",
follow me is not active track with follow me the drone just follows the remote
Ok thanks
Thanks. Great info. Will buy and try that app. A $32 price tag for the app is much cheaper than getting a new drone for some of those features
+Jason Scarboro check out my other channel at C & R Aerials.
thank you ✔
+Omar Zaki channel You bet
The logic of throwing the old ones away is a bit silly. You could easily sell them.
I don't think he's saying throwing it away literally. I think what he means is you can only sell it half or a third of the original price
+Jerome Jimeno you're telling me used items sell for less then new ones!?! Thanks Obama!
Jerome Jimeno That still isn't throwing it away. That is deprecation like most thinks folks buy
+MrDragonfyr 👍
20 is a bit less than an upgrade for 1200...
Thanks for the information! I just bought a P3 with 3 batteries and a range extenders for $400 solid! Now I'm going to download the Litchi app!
yes the p4 has batter range than the p3s but it doesn't have better range than the P3a and p3p!!
+J_Grindel that is true, a point I should have distinguished better. And all the more reason to consider a p3a or p3p over the p4.
+Techy Agent exactly, the p3 is a brilliant bird!
+Techy Agent what is the range of the p3a and p3p?i have a p2v+ and it only gets out to about 300feet really sux at times when i need it to go further.. so in saying that i am contemplating on getting a p3p or a p4 but i am confused on which one to get.
+bradsta73 Get a P3A ... Same distance as a 4 but only 2.7k max .... which is more than enough
Phantom 4 has surface sensors on the back, front and bottom.
video: "I could buy three of these and crash two for that price"
me: "I COULD BUILD AN ARMY"
+PirateShipProductions lol 👍
Lol!
So basically go with the Phantom 4
Nice one pls how or where can I buy the bag you use for your Phantom 3?
The Phantom 3 Goes farther and faster at unpacking than the Phantom 4
Wrong.
+TripMcSleazestack Right. The 3 pro does go faster and farther out of the box and not including sport mode.
+UngovernedReason so it doesn't then.
+TripMcSleazestack Out of the box. Without turning on any extra features. Picking pepper out of fly shit here.
+UngovernedReason so still no. 'Extra Features' ? If its built in...its not extra. Typical, sad P3 fanboy can't afford a P4.
So just to be clear did you say you can't fly the drive manually ? It has to be flown from pre planned routes ?
Hi there, so I have the one-plus 6 and the phantom 3 standard. But the dji go app's live feed is very choppy on my phone. And was wondering if buying the litchi app I wouldn't have this problem? Thanks!
Techy Agent..
Can you upgrade the camera on the dji phantom 3 standard
+Gareth Frost No, it is an integrated camera so unless you have some amazing skills, you’re stuck with the camera
These things are cool right? I must confess... a friend gave me a phantom 3 pro and a 4 pro and I thought I wouldn't really care too much for them. But after using them I am hooked! these things are fun!
Very nice vid !!! I would like to know if will be able to acess D-Log profile through the Litchi app. Thanx
Any way to upgrade the camera for a phantom 3 standard? I heard you could buy a phantom 3 4K camera and install it
Thanks for explaining the app. I do have have a question though, I have a Phantom 4 and sometimes the dji go 4 app records ambient sound and I can't figure out why. Thanks.
May I ask you since the 48fps option with FHD DISAPPEARED from the DJI app. Is it enabled in the litchi one
do you have the video of flying it to your work?? would be awesome to see it!
+JIMMY JAMES I don't have it on TH-cam, but maybe I can post a sped up version eventually
Thanks
over a year later, the Phantom 3 is still the most bang for the buck drone out there!
You can tell if your iPad mini has 4G service by whether or not it has a plastic bar at the top of it on the backside: www.google.com/search?q=ipad+mini+without+gps+vs&rlz=1C9BKJA_enUS613US613&hl=en-US&prmd=vsni&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiq3-KdlI3OAhWFkh4KHYEdAp0Q_AUICigE&biw=768&bih=909#imgrc=0GwrIJcLnD7xeM%3A
will using litchi solve the infamous dji go app video signal loss problem?
so, you set a waypoint and flew it to work.. said it was about 4 miles... so, did you just start the mission, then take your remote to work and land it when it got there?? thanks
+JIMMY JAMES yep, exactly. I set the flight speed slow enough so I would beat it there, and took my controller with me.
+Oswaldo Plascencia you bet!
just got a phantom 3 standard, working my way up.... got it off of offerup for 200 bucks and it only needed 2 props and 2 stabilizers. It also came WITH an aluminum case for it all which was AMAZING!
This is easily one of the best purchases and upgrdes I have gotten. The video quality is impecible for the price point. Just all around.
Yes I tried to get one cheaper... this was the best bang for buck I could get.
I agree with you. I have two phantom 3s and 1 phantom 4. Got a question,my remote control doesn't pan downward. Any help?
Was your gimbal damaged? Sounds like a hardware issue. Can you manually rotate the camera downward when the drone is off? Does it feel sticky or locked in place?
No , the camera moves freely, i thinks it's the remote. If I hold the wheel a certain way the camera moves downward
+DARRYL DAMON Hmm, yes that definitely sounds like the wheel on the remote may have a bad sensor.
will the Apple iPad mini 32GB Wi-Fi with Retina Display work on the phantom 3 ?
Can you fly the dji 3 without the remote and using the app only? If i go surfing can i leave the remote at my house and put my iphone in my waterproof case and take it out surfing ? can i land and take off with the app? thanks
+Faceless Reviewer you must use a controller to fly this drone, they don't have an app-only option
Thanks! It’s great to get positive feedback like this!
One more question! and thanks for all your fast responses... when you fly a waypoint mission, and it loses video signal cause its out of range, does it still record the mission?? and you just can view it at the time?
+JIMMY JAMES yes, it will still record the mission on the camera as long as it was on when it disconnected.
have you ever received a calibrate tracking statement when attempting to track/follow?
I haven't yet. I'm not sure what that means either.
I have the Phantom 3 Advanced I'm glad I seen your video because I was thinking about getting them 4 just for that reason.
wheres the "H" on the battery bar? for rth battery needed? don't like that missing. that is a very helpful tool
Does the tablet you use need to have gps in order for the tracking and follow me function to work? Does wi-fi need to be enabled?
thanks
I use my iphone, but yes. My understanding is that gps is a requirement on your tablet or phone for that feature to work. wifi needs to be enabled because that's how the phone/tablet communicates to the controller (it uses a closed wifi connection)
OK thank you
how do I watch my video that I record with the litchi app
+OLCtv same as the DJI go app: you remove the memory card from the drone camera and put it in your computer to view the video files
Techy Agent on the dji go app I was able to view my video on my phone as well
I'm assuming the video just didn't record because of the disconnection, I see it no where in my phone. I'll check thy SD card
Good Morning. Thank you for sharing your video.
I just got a P3 standard for father's day. This video helped a lot.
Not sure if someone has already mentioned or not but the Tracking on Litchi doesn't fly the phantom automatically. The app only do yawning and gimbal pitch. You still have to manually control the phantom.
+Jeffrey Fu there is a way you can trick it with the orbit feature. You can tell it to orbit the object it's tracking, and as you move, it does follow you
did you havesignal issuse with new firmware? 1.9.2
I guess you're not fully understanding my question. The DJI Go app has a limit of 500 meter or 1641.4 ft. Does the Lithchi app let you go further than the DJI Go app does?
+Shannon Chavez ah, I think I understand now. In terms of height, no, it caps at 500 meters just like the DJI app
Exactly, 360 degree obstacle avoidance will probably show up in a P5 edition, or maybe a p4 "Pro" edition. That would be worth it.
CactusJackSlade it’s 2018 and phantom 5 isn’t even out. Lol
just an FYI, Phantom 3 Advanced and Pro both have lightbridge, and a rated range of 5km (3.2ish miles)
Obstacle avoidance technology is also a great feature of the P4. I own both personally, the P3 Advanced and the P4.
+Tom Coffel (TC) good point, I know that several have told me that the Phantom 3 has better range than the phantom 4
+Techy Agent one other thing, thanks for the info, because I truly never searched on what litchi can do, and wasn't one for using 3rd party apps, but your video has changed my mind! one big reason for buying the phantom 4 was active track and OAS, I had no idea you could "active track" in litchi with a P3! thanks again and keep up the good work.
+Tom Coffel (TC) cool, thanks for your detailed explanation about the p3 vs p4 ranges, that's super helpful. Yeah, if you get the chance, the Litchi app is worth checking out. Happy flying!
Is this app necessary anymore? The newish update brought new features like the follow me
+aedan929 In my opinion it is still a good app for older model phantom drones, but if you have anything that is a phantom four or newer, I would recommend using the DJI app
Techy Agent ok, thanks for the help! Great video!
hi Eric. for the follow me feature on the djip3s does the remote have to be in your hand or can you leave it down and the ground and then say cycle off or skate off.
+Techy Agent great! thanks for the reply
The Android version of Litchi has a feature called Magic Leash. You can pair your controllers device with any smart phone using the Magic Leash app. Separate app from the Litchi app and the Phantom or inspire will then follow the smart phone. Gimbal yah and all. :)
I have the DJI 3s and the camera is really poor what camera do you have on yours?
thanks for the info.
let say if i purchase the app using my android google id.
will it appears in my IOS divice too? which is i loged in on apps store using my gmail account that same with an android one?
it will be a waste if i need to buy 2 times
thanks
+Denny Kurniawan Koee unfortunately if you buy it on android, you have to buy it again for iOS. I wish it wasn't that way, but they haven't changed it yet
just because , something better come out doesn't mean im going to throw away my batteries or not use it , just saying , love what you have !
+Sorry Dude true, lol. But knowing myself, I'd just never use them again and they'd just collect dust.
This is exactly what I am thinking. I got this for 399. I have been practicing with it and am going to get a Mavic eventually. This drone is such a good deal.
+Jeremy Pappas yes, it may not be the best on the market, but it's definitely the best deal on the market
Yea, and it still takes great images that can be sold. Really an amazing deal just to get you in the dji door. They know they have me hooked now.
Can you explain on how to upload the Litichi app to my Phantom 3 standard?
You download the app to your phone or tablet, not to the phantom. You use the Litchi app instead of the DJI Go app.
Hey man that was great!! I love it when you can "cheat the system" and get the most out of old tech instead of having to upgrade. I don't personally own one of these but after seeing the shots you've taken I might think about it.
+BboyJDA now that the Phantom 3 Standard is down to less than $500, it's a fantastic value.
Is litchi able to track any object or does it simply track the remote controller?
+David Edits it is able to visually track any object , but it also has a feature to track the remote if you prefer that instead
Great video... I'm going to buy the Litchi app now that I can use the way point feature you highlighted. That's awesome! Need to watch this video again, so much great info lol.
+Ron Bursey you are welcome, thanks for watching
I would love a codec update for P3
Just wondering if your still using this app. I have seen a few videos where ppl have claimed to lose control of their drone due to the app. I would like to use the app but this concerns me a little, I also understand that those situations could of been pilot error. So just wondering if you still use it and have you ever had any bad experiences with it. Thanks
should I get the dji app to update the firmware and stuff before I get the litchi app or should I go ahead and use this app without using the dji app?
You need the DJI Go app to update firmware.
If the III-Standard uses WiFi for video, doesn't that greatly limit the range of POV usage?
+grguthrie Yes, it does. The visual and physical range on the standard is not nearly as good as the professional and advanced.
Techy Agent thanks a lot! purchasing that one shortly along with an original extra battery
Great video, can you do a video with a walk through tutorial of how to use that Litchi App?
Hi, a friend just presented me with a new Phantom 3 Standard; how do I change from mode 2 to mode 1 on the controller? Thanks. Ben
You don't, you change it in the dji go app, look it up on TH-cam
Thanks, @@kevindarkstar I have already done it.
The phantom 4 has sensors on all 4 sides not just the front. But this is a great video and good to know about this app
If I'm flying my phantom 3 standard far away and it loses range does it return to where it landed ? Afraid to fly it too far in case it looses range and goes off happened to me before with a cheaper drone
+GoPro Owens Yt yes, it will engage the return-to-home feature if it loses connectivity
+Techy Agent okay thanks
The phantom 3 advanced and professional can go the same distance as the phantom 4, 3.1 miles or 5 km however this uninterrupted signal
Since you said that you are using this app ith yoiur Phantom 3 standard same as mine. tnk u.
+maglanit do you have any problems connecting to your DJI app too? Or is it only your Litchi app?
it's only on Litchi app, DJI works well. And I wonder why there is no wifi connection for Litchi which the DJI has. Does Litchi has a wifi or it will only work wit 4g connectivity. Because I haven't tried connecting it yet outside just tried inside the house without GPS. I don't know if this is just a waste of money app. tnx for replying.
can i use tracking mode without holding the rc or leash app on p3 advanced
+chickboy87 yes, you can leave the remote and your mobile device on the ground, and you don't need the leash app. It will visually track you without any other electronic device
Do you use this app INSTEAD of a DJI app? In other words, can you use this app today in 2022 to fly a phantom 3 that you're having trouble flying with dji apps that don't seem to support the Phantom 3 anymore?
can you do 360 shots with litchi on the 3 like you can with the mavic?
+nbookie yes, I have done them. You will need third party software to arrange the pictures that Litchi takes. But Litchi does have a 360 photo mode that takes several dozen pictures that can be stitched together to make a 360 picture
Question what is the difference between Dji 3 standard and 3 4K besides the 4K ?
Thanks again
Mike
+Michael Sulwer thanks Mike! Glad you are happy with your choice, as I've been with mine.
10-4! I have a Phantom 3 Pro and love the Litchi app. Also for storm chasing and a few other reasons... I keep this drone... As well, the price difference. Kudos on the video!
There is an antenna for Phantom 3 that increase the range x4 it has been tested here on youtube and I think I gives you like 1.25 miles range.
Techy Agent it says "lost connection"
Techy Agent but i still have the control of my phantom but i lost live video signal only video signal but the rc still has control of the drone
questión ...do you have the free litchi app or the paying one..... I see an app for the phantom 2 but not the 3
Thanks great video now I am getting the phantom 3 standard because of the points you made in this video keep up the good work
+K9 Unit Awesome! Check out the link in the description of the video, it should take you to Amazons lowest pricing available for the drone!
+Techy Agent will do thank you for the help
You have a link of the case you have please??
Thank you in advance
+Tequila Rojas here is the case is use: amzn.to/2cuzE7j
+Tequila Rojas The case are used says that it's designed for the phantom 2, but it absolutely fits the phantom 3, and you are able to keep the propellers on the quad copter in the case, you don't have to take them off. This is one of the cheapest cases that offers that feature
is that live aerial map with the red location indicator part of Litchi?
+chriscorn86 yes, it is a live map with different indicators on it. One for drone, one for controller location, one for the saved home point
And by recommendations I just meant specifically which video editing program. Thank you!
+Andres Castro I haven't had this error message yet, sorry. Are you using iPhone or android?
+Techy Agent im using an iPhone, i just reset all the settings and later i will give another try ,lets see, like i said nobody complaints about having issues with litchi besides wrong settings(pilot fault) , thanks for the prompt answer!!!
+Andres Castro you have to connect and open the DJI Go App. Then go into the settings and set it to allow max distance. Then reboot litchi. Should work then. I had the same issue.
+TripMcSleazestack thankss , i found it about it when i did a whole reset to my settings on the dji go!!!thanks on the reply,!!
Have you tried FPV using the litchi app and phantom 3? How is it?
+Superdupercooper this case is what I have: fits all of Phantom 3 drones: amzn.to/2hHXBqG
Techy Agent Thanks a bunch!
Ebay has this case for about $32 shipped if you search for it, I own one myself and I love it
+evil jerry that's a great deal! When I purchased mine it was less than 50 on Amazon, but it has since gone up.
Techy Agent Hopefully if I keep looking I'll find one for a good deal. I really like the idea of not having to put on the props every time
I bought my DJI standard at Sam's Club for $450 back in February of this year pretty good drone no complaints here
+smidy719 that's a fantastic price, nice
Great info. Can I ask where you got the case, what kind? I hate taking the props off.
+Kelwin Ferguson this case will work for any DJI phantom 3 drone: amzn.to/2hukXjs
amazon dropped me off one today! thanks
What do you think about the phantom 3 advanced over the pro or 4 or mavic pro?
+Rody Davis I think the phantom 3 advanced is probably more than enough quality for most people, but I REALLY like the new Mavic for its portability. I think it's the direction drone tech is going
I think so too. I cant believe how much prices have dropped. I am about to bid on a phantom 3 advanced bundle on ebay for under $600. I think I will upgrade to the mavic pro when there are used ones on the market and the second one is released. Awesome video, keep uploading! I'm working hard to upload weekly on youtube. Ill let you know if I get the drone
