They almost didn't until the final 2 years of that "other guy". Some old-school 49ers fans also insist that had Deion Sanders stayed next to Young & Rice for the rest of the '90s, there'd be no 3rd Dallas title, no Favre legacy aside from losses, and possibly this "other guy" retiring as another Dan Marino.
Fun fact. The commercial at 30:37 for the Nissan 300 turbo z was the only time this commercial was seen on tv ever. It was taken off the air because they said it promoted too much speed. Wow. Different times, Huh? It was directed by Ridley Scott.
Wow, the Bud Bowl. That was my favorite Budweiser commercial during the sb three years in a row.😅😅😅Shame they stopped doing it, and replacing it with frogs😅😅
In retrospect, I think the 1980s was a great decade to watch sports on television! In February 1980, the US men's Olympic hockey team won the gold medal after the "Miracle on Ice" match, which was one for the ages! Nobody knew that Kenny Morrow would go from gold medal in the Winter Olympics at Lake Placid to Stanley Cup with the NY Islanders in his rookie season just a few months later! Magic Johnson and Larry Bird would also go from NCAA fame to NBA greatness, both within just a couple of years! In hockey, Wayne Gretsky would set new records in his athletic discipline. And, two QBs from Notre Dame would go on to win Super Bowls in the NFL. Super Bowl XXIV was frosting on the cake to a great decade for sports television. The 1990s were also quite a decade for sports television, as the NY Yankees established themselves as the finest sports franchise of the 20th century!
I always thought something looked drab or depressing about this game. Like if you compare it to the Super Bowl after the 96 season, it looks totally different. Did the SuperDome upgrade their lighting or is it a matter of the color settings that CBS used in 89, vs FOX in 1996?
Roger Craig was always the unsung hero of these teams and we wouldnt have won without him. The fact he isnt in the hall of fame is so so wrong. The slap in the face was that Terrell Davis gets in the hall but not Craig. He shouldve went for a network job, he'd been in by now. Joe was the most important on offense, Craig second, then Rice
Love Roger but he was NOT more important than Jerry. Jerry was the key to that team’s aggressive performance. Look at the previous SB where he was the MVP.
No doubt in my mind the fumble from Craig in the 91 NFC Championship game which cost the team a 3rd consecutive superbowl appearance and still hurts us 49ers fans is the reason he is not a HoF

The last NFL/Super Bowl Today assignment for Brent Musberger as the host. He was fired just 3 months later. Also the last for Irv Cross as Brent's partner. The following season Greg Gumbel replaced Brent Musberger as the new host of the NFL Today. While Terry Bradshaw became the studio analyst replacing Irv Cross.
@@ricardolozano5356 Brent was fired cause he wanted too much control of being the main guy at the network. He had been doing a lot of broadcasting work doing the NFL Today, College Football play by play, college basketball, the Belmont Stakes and the College World Series. And CBS just underwent a major management change at the network. And they just felt it was time for a change. Irv on the other hand wasn’t fired. He just got moved up to the broadcast booth to join Tim Ryan on its NFL coverage. Both him and Terry Bradshaw switched roles after the 1989 season.
Think the 49ers were consistent? 14 pts in all 4 quarters, 14 first downs rushing, 14 first downs passing, 8-15 on 3rd down conversions, over 100 yards rushing, over 300 yards passing, and only gave up 10 pts. Wow.
At 1:39:49, Bradshaw claimed his Steelers, enhanced by PEDs, would defeat the 49ers. They might, but only with extensive potent drugs. Joe, the GOAT, would dismantle the Steelers. Ronnie and Eric would utterly neutralize Swan and Stallworth. Carter, Holts, and Fagan would stuff Franco at the line.
@@TicklerDude it’s an old Simpsons joke- the FBI is going to give the Simpsons new identities to hide them from Sideshow Bob, and Homer wants to be John Elway.

wow, thanks for sharing that fact.
I knew a chick who owned one.
They were fast.
When Denver's coach is finished coaching he can be a model for men's suits
This 49ers team was the best team in NFL history..
Oh, but of course if they played the Chiefs currently, then KC would be able to win by 3. LOL!
@@tracyisbest I agree. They were a well oiled machine.
They were fun to watch. Being a fan, I've seen them all😅
Everyone knows that the 2008 Detroit Lions were the best team in NFL history
Not sure, that 84-85 squad was stacked. The owner lost money with the salary that year.

yup
Mad TV's version of the Bud Bowl was the best.

To this day out of 58 of these my all time favorite Super Bowl
Bud Bowl II 🍺
1:35 Mr. Montana. Game over.
Pat Summerall after the last touchdown: This is just unfortunate 😂
I do love old Terry, but his team wouldn't have a chance against the 89 49ers!!! They were really good, but the 49ers were beyond great that year!!!
Elway's drop is insanely quick. Incredible feet.
If I had to draft any QB, Elway would be the one. That kid in Buffalo kinda reminds me of Elway.
Truth!
The problem with Elway was his arm. He would fire a 5-yard pass with the same power behind an eighty-yarder.

TV graphics got better.
2:55:48 One my all-time favorite SB commercials.
I don’t know the touchdowns for San Francisco and Denver.
As a lifelong Bronco fan this one hurt and hurt bad for a long ass time. This team folded faster than Superman on laundry day.
For me, when Gibson hit the homerun off Eckersley. I have to turn the channel when that highlight comes on.
I've never understood why that was such a big deal if it was only the first game

They still are the best team in history I don't care what the chiefs has done they're not going to win another super bowl
Brent Jones i think a youngster at this time. Went on to have a great career!!
Too bad the Broncos didn’t show up for this one. It might have been a classic. But then the 49ers were ridiculously dominant in all phases.
Greatest quote ever. John Maden " they always say this team does not quit. They won't let you quit, you have to finish the game.
