Yes, top notch. But don't forget about coaching! Man what a difference Jimmie Johnson made for the Cowboys. There's just something about him. Cowboys had zero pass rush as Haley's back was toast (just watch him in SB XXVII where he was unstoppable), Novacek had 1 or 2 catches only, and Bruce Smith was being Bruce Smith (unlike XXVII when he was virtually unnoticed). Then, Emmitt (and Norv Turner and James Washington) took over in the 2nd half. Ballgame.

Everyone was injured or missed time because of off-the-field issues. Emmitt had a brief paralyzing scare at Soldier Field which made him run tentative, but he still had productive Pro Bowl years in 1998 & 1999. Aikman had concussion issues but not to the point where he still couldn't play at a high level when healthy and Irvin's off-the-field issues set the team back. 1998 and 1999 was their last chance at a Superbowl run. Had they drafted Randy Moss like they initially intended to, it was pretty much guaranteed they'd go all the way as he helped the Vikings go 15-1 while torching the Cowboys on Turkey Day. Cowboys swept the NFC East that year, but laid an egg against Arizona at Texas Stadium. in 1999, they started the season 3-0 but once Irvin went down in Philly, the Dynasty was officially over.

@Aldo del Círculo Infernal in a weird way it has kind of ruined the game, not because they're arent' big hits, or because theres to many pentalties, its because its made it to easy to be a quarterback. Tom Brady can play until he's 50 basically just as a glorified dart player who makes good risk management decisions on paper, he's just sitting in the pocket. he might as well be at a desk making good risk analysis for finacia clients, because their is no risk on the athletic side. No one can touch him to hard.

This is quietly one of the best Super Bowls ever played. It was very competitive and both teams had a reputation to play for. This is the last great team that Dallas or Buffalo ever produced. I don't care about the 94 & 95 Cowboys. In just 2 months after this game, Jerry would make a decision that still haunts him to this day. He forced Jimmy Johnson out the doors of Valley Ranch and Dallas has never recovered.
By the way, Emmitt Smith was great in this game, but I've always said that James Washington should have won the Super Bowl MVP. There are 10 Hall of Famers in this game and a few others that may make it in someday........

Emmitt Smith broke more tackles than Barry Sanders, was much more effective in goal line situations, was a better blocker, was very effective out of the back field catching balls for crucial yards, carried the rock, and took a lot of hits, tallied the most yards in history to become the NFL's all time leading rusher. Add to that he was a 3 time Super Bowl Champion, and MVP. Sanders "pretty style of running although impressive, and fun to watch just does not stack up to Emmitt the GOAT.

Jones has been trying to recreate this magical, very dominating team since he bought the team. He got it with Jimmy Johnson. What Jones has never realized is it's wonderful to have great players, but without a truly great coach it's not going to happen. The only reason it happened under Switzer was because the spirit of Johnson still continued thanks to key players like Aikman who basically took over the team. Switzer was terrible. Jones keeps hiring terrible coaches or when he gets ones rarely, Jones makes himself their egotistical overlord. Jones will never learn to shut up.

If you hold the ball high and tight in the 3-point contact grip as you are coached to do, instead of out away from your body as many running backs do because they think it looks cool, YOU DON'T FUMBLE THE BALL. Even I know that.
