Bikervation - Sportster LED riding/running lights & American turn signal/Indicators, install.

Harley Davidson Sportster running lights: Showing how I wired in LED riding/running lights with American turn signals/indicators on my Harley Sportster. It seemed like a good time to do it while the bikes harness is exposed during my gasket install. I’m getting some used U.S. Sportster turn signals that have riding lights present, then fitting aftermarket LED indicators which have white riding lights on the outer perimeter and amber centres.

I have custom dynamics ones and I had to splice the wiring to get mine to work properly. when my indicator flashes though, the white running light goes off so that you can see the amber more clearly. 👍

Hey Chris , good to see the wiring already existed and I like how you got around the yellow/white issue..im not a fan of led stuff on bikes (ie changing to led) but in this case I don't think there's another option that's so simple..they look really bright on camera like the yellow flash is gettingbdrowned by the white running light but I'm sure in "real life" they're just fine..and if your mot guy says it's good , then it's good! ..keep safe brother peace and love 👍🏻☮❤

Hi springy, thanks for watching and your comments. The white is not as bright as the sensor on the camera makes out and as you supposed you can see the orange well enough. It would be better if the white went out when the indicators were on but alas they are the £70 inserts, these were £11. I just wanted something for those drivers to notice or double take and they do that I think. Ride safe, Chris

hey buddy it's always a pleasure to watch your videos..i understand wanting to be more visible..i had a car pull out on me last weekend ..luckily it was slow going into a mini roundabout ..but I had to do an emergency stop..he pulled over and waited for me , apologised and I guess my anger turned to perspective as I said " ok buddy no harm this time but you won't be doing that again soon ! " ..he was very embarrassed so I guess it was a good life lesson for him..and for me as getting all angry would have achieved nothing apart from raising my already high blood pressure 👍🏻
I must be getting old and wise and soft ! 👍🏻☮❤

Great work, I had wondered why you can't get them as running lights in the UK.
How visible are the indicators
With riding lights?

I had also wondered why you don’t get running lights in the UK, that’s why I took it to the MOT guy, who said they were fine for the MOT. I’ve also seen busses with sidelights and indicators so guess it’s OK in the UK. It would be better if the running light went out when the indicators are on (which you can get on RRI SigZ 1157 turn signals from Roguer industries for about $80) but they are clear enough to see, that’s if the car drivers can be bothered to look .

@@Bikervation I meant why they don't work, as in the missing cable... I'd been told before they didn't, but never explained.
