    Come and see a lesson from Delightful Reading Level 2 from Simply Charlotte Mason! This is the reading program I have chosen to use with my 6-year-old daughter (we began when she was 5). We're big fans of it! This program has helped her to thrive in learning to read. I hope this is helpful for you if you're wondering about this program. Thanks for watching!

    Wow, so great! Thanks for sharing! I was debating between kit 1 and kit 2 and after this I think I’ll go with kit 2.

    Do you plan to use level 3? We are currently in level 2 and I'm debating between level 3 or something different when we are done with level 2.

      I started level 3 with her this year, but I found it super redundant and so did my daughter (which might be good for some). It doesn’t have all the games etc like level 2. So now we are just using the readers from SCM (Days Go By, etc) and she is loving it. We will start a more grammar-focused curriculum next school year.

    So is it designed to use an activity every day? Like activity one is lesson one, activity 2 is lesson 2? Or is it a book of listed activities and you are supposed to pick and choose when to use them? Does it have a day to day schedule in the book I guess is what I’m asking, sorry if this is confusing 😆

    • @peggystarling
      @peggystarling  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It’s open-and-go,l. Each day is 1 lesson, and each lesson tells you exactly what to do. Some activities are repeated, but you don’t have to figure out what activities to do. It tells you exactly on each lesson. You might play a card game, play a find-and-seek game, read a poem; etc. There are I believe 95 lessons, but some lessons look similar just with the new phonics lesson being learned. Sometimes when my daughter enjoyed a specific game we played, I would ignore that lesson’s game or activity for that day and play the game she liked but with the new phonics she was learning. Hopefully that helps! Let me know if you have another question. Hopefully I answered your question. 😆

    I am are currently using Delightful Reading Level 2 with my 5 year old. What readers did you choose for your daughter at this stage? I am having trouble finding good books for her to read aloud. Thank you!

    • @peggystarling
      @peggystarling  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      At that stage I read books to her (usually something she picks from the library or our own collection) and pause to let her read specific words that I’ll point to- words or word families that we’ve covered. (Speaking of my kindergartener currently at this level.) At the Level 2 stage it’s more about understanding the mechanics of building words and phonics, so I don’t push her to read books just yet.
      My daughter in the video is now at Level 3 and we started using Delightful Reading Level 3, but now we just use the Pathway Readers from SCM and they have been excellent! Both of my girls are reading really well thanks to Delightful Reading. Hope this helps! 😃

    Thank you for showing a lesson. Does this curriculum explain the exceptions to rules like the word "have" that you mentioned?

    • @peggystarling
      @peggystarling  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It does, but not in-depth. I’ve used this curriculum to teach 3 children to read now, and it’s still my favorite!

      @@peggystarlingThat's helpful to know! I started using All About Reading with my 6 year old and I just didn't like it as I did not find it logical or intuitive. I've been looking at Logic of Reading and Charlotte Mason based reading now. I want to be able to explain those exceptions when needed while not overwhelming her with rules
