Wolf and Dragon- Pixar Story Xperiential 2022

- Over the past 9 weeks I had the opportunity to create a story reel with Pixar and X in a Box with their Story Xperiential program. I got to learn Pixar's process for making compelling stories. I've been meaning to find time to turn these characters into a story and I'm glad I have. This is the result of my work. Me along with two others won the award for best show reel in the adults category! Thank you for your kind words and critiques everyone.

For those who feel bad for the hatchling being scared by the wolf, I can understand where you coming from. In reality, the hatchling is scared because it's the first time it felt what discipline is, yes discipline can be harsh, and scary. Just think about how Mufasa saves Simba from the hyenas and disciplines him, same story here.

Wolf being like, "this is my life now I suppose." Is amazingly adorable
This was so precious and adorable. Could imagine this as a whole movie. But not even just ending there. I can imagine the wolf and mama dragon acting like arguing exes that wants what's best for their children but getting along in the end. Maybe the sabers finding their hide away and in the end learning not to mess with dragons forever

Pretty sure the mother was shocked, impressed or both that her child was alive and healthy under the care of a wolf. He’s in mamas good books now xD

3:52 is probably my favorite scene, the wolf telling the hatchling that he's his, and nothing will change the fact that he's his son even though he's different.
Hatchling: "I'm not your real son am I, dad?"
Wolf: "Hey, I'm your father, and you are my son, nothing will change that, I love you and I always will."
Rereading/watching that scene got me to tears.
I like that this short is based on the relationship between a normal animal and a mythical one. Fantasy stories never seem to bring up how mythical creatures could affect the ego system or they they would interact with other animals. This was really cool to see and I'm glad I watched it.
Yeah. I even want to make in the future some movies, where wild animals are interacting with fantasy Creatures. Would you like to know some of my ideas?

Once upon a time there was a dog named Max. He lived in an abandoned barn with his disabled grandmother and her friends who helped her cope with her disability: Uran the bison, Nero the stork and Foofie the iguana who escaped from the pet shop. One day, Max's grandmother had to leave our world, and before she died, she revealed to her grandson where his parents were. After the Mourning, our pup went to meet his parents and discovered that they were laboratory dogs used for testing, for various things. Max was also captured by scientists, but suddenly a surprising thing happened, the lab was invaded by UFO. The scientists, Max's parents, and other lab animals are sucked into the spaceship, but Max is the only one who managed to escape and fled to his grandmother's house. Max doesn't want to tell what happened to his parents Uran, Nero and Foofie, so he says they died too, but they somehow figured out the truth. Meanwhile, they tell him that Max can't stay with them, because they don't want to take care of him anymore, so they send him to Pickville (animal town invisible and imperceptible to people. Pickville is not the only such place on Earth), to their befriended ravens - Hookie and Hector and blackbird-Buster. The birds are happy to take the dog to themselves, but they compete a bit for holding it, with the bunny-Hedwig. A few dog years later, during the winter, Max is already a teenager, still living, with the birds. Suddenly, at night, when everyone is asleep, strange things happen. The inhabitants find Pickville in the morning as if a whirlwind passed through it, but in fact it was the arrival of many dangerous creatures. Max, interested in the whole event, decides to go on an expedition together with Hookie, Hector, Buster and Hedwig (the dog senses the hope of finding his parents in all this), where our heroes will meet various creatures, from living dinosaurs and mammoths to Yeti, Centaurs and Baba Yaga. Meanwhile, Uran, Nero and Foofie, along with Wild Boar-Mr. Mironyk and Pelican-Doctor Nascholka, secretly follow the adventures of Max and his companions, through a computer and a secret Chip that Uran quietly gave to Max.

A long time ago, somewhere in Siberia, there lived a tiger named "Amur". It was quite a unique tiger because it was born with melanism, which unfortunately didn't give him a good reputation. The other tigers tried to avoid him because they thought Amur was cursed. Especially since one day rumors say that Amur brought the dangerous Chuchunya, which killed his mother Chara. This gave our tiger an even worse reputation, for which he was expelled from the tiger community, but he was adopted by the dhole pack, where Amur became best friends with the dholes: Argun, Zeya and Laika. Years pass, Amur grows up and is recognized by the dholes as the best hunter, but he still misses other tigers. One day, Amur meets a female tiger cub-Nera, who is quite interested in our black tiger. However, Amur believes that the tiger cub may bring him more trouble and tries to return her to her mother, but things get complicated as Amur, Nera, Argun, Zeya and Laika fall into the legendary Gorge of Monsters, inhabited by various Siberian legendary creatures. Now our team is trying to get out, and at the same time we will find out if Amur is really as evil as some tigers say.
I adore the design of the dragons. So creative and unique!

I absolutely love wolves and dragons. This was such a sweet, heartwarming story. I loved it. The drawings and sound effects were amazing. Almost had me crying at the end.

It's funny how most people decry the villain of a story but sometimes fail to realize that they are a key part of events. Villains are in fact sometimes even MORE important than the protagonists themselves. Without a Villain (Or even conflict in general) a story can indeed progress but there would be a lack of investment in it. Great job for choosing a villain who is not actually a villain but is instead just another point of view.
Also love the part where you didn't re-hash. I see that every dragon has little differences to make the unique

wow ! this so beautiful! really love the story, it was so warm , I really feel the caring parent-child of relationship of the wolf and the little dragon, and animación is something you have to put a lot of effort and patient, so congrats you for making this lovely story , that we can undestad whiout a single dialoge.
Gosh this is adorable and so well made. Your shape language with your designs is always just, so amazing. And the body language and facial expressions of the characters communicated the story so clearly! I'm so glad you had the opportunity to work with freaking PIXAR to put this together!! My gosh!!

Such a beautiful thing, nowdays is so hard to see dragons that actually look like dragons, yours are just marvelous! This definitely deserves a fully animated movie!
Wdym dragons that look like dragons, these dragons look nothing like dragons at all, unique dragon doesn’t mean it’s dragon like
@@ddrw1 I know they don't look like your usual dragons either but they certainly look more dragon-like than a lot of animated dragons who usually just straight up look more like weird winged dinosaurs with disproportionated body parts than actual dragons. The dragons here kinda remind me more of alebrijes if I'm being honest

Also that description of what’s not dragon like is exactly what a dragon is, a weird dinosaur with wings with disproportionate limbs, lol.

Meanwhile these guys in this animation look like Draconian's with avian features.

@@jasse85 I meant dragons such as those in Dragon Rider, Pete's Dragon, The Never-ending Story and that most recent kids show of How to Train your Dragon (rescue riders or something like that?). Most dragons there look like dogs or just any other thing but a dragon, I know some people like the designs, but personally? I don't. But that's just my opinion, I do like the design of those in GOT, haven't watched the show, but I have seen the dragons and they look fine. Same as the ones from DND, I don't know anything about that but I have seen the dragons and they also look great too 👍

This is beautiful, emotional, and more unique than anything I’ve seen in a while! I absolutely love the design of the dragons, and the fact that so much emotion can be told without the use of words. I love that you didn’t give the sabertooth some tragic backstory on why he hunts dragons, or some motivation! Honestly too many stories just try to justify everything that happens, or give every character a sob story when they really don’t need one. Really refreshing!
Immedietly subbing! I absolutely love this! It's a hearty reminder that you don't need voice acting or animation to make a great story. It's inspiring to think I could write stories of my own without having to meet all the standards of an animated film. Very well done :) Great sound work as well!
