A Hideo Kojima game I fully agree this is the best online game, combining both serious and silly aspects of single player MGS and letting players experience it together (both friendlies and enemies)
The gameplay systems were well done, but what is more impressive imo is MGO's infrastructure. The built-in social features for a console game in that generation was absolutely unheard of. The various clan lobbies, training rooms, instructors/graduations, friends/BL system, lobbies with highly customizable criteria resulting in varied and long-lasting community game modes (lmfao G.G. prison rooms)...legendary.
Don't get me wrong, I love MGO2, but in retrospect, the sever lag, lag switchers, and glitchers ruined a lot of MGO2. Still one of my top 5 multiplayer games

MGO 1 was ruined by the glitching but yeah the tick rate and lag was so bad in MGO2. I remember the lag where whenever you'd get knocked down to the ground from a grenade you'd teleport lol
I honestly regret getting into MGO2 so late in its life cycle, it seriously was one of my favorite multiplayer experiences and core reasons to own a PS3 back in the day.
As a former lvl 18-19 fox I salute you for posting this amazing game so I can see it once again tried playing save mgo and it’s such a small amount of people on hurted my heart tbh
I know it would never happen but if they ever made an MGS4 remake (a la RE4> RE4R) with a complimentary MGO2R I’d lap that up. Hell, I’d settle for a revival of this version

I played countless hours of this game. I would play prison. Play as the guards one round. Inmates the next. Then I would play city. Then I would play serious ranked rounds. Play some of the tournaments. Then I went back to messing around. No game had a better online imo. I just wish I would have not cared as much about using “cheap guns” like the DSR-1 or the RPG
MGO3 was poised to be such a massive improvement but ended up being a dramatic downgrade in every department outside of the movement and shooting. The class system was a massive error, and with significantly less customization for your soldier the community got stale quickly.

I’ve missed the voices and death screams. Best match I ever had was a tdm with only rpg’s.
The ragdoll desync is still the biggest issue with this game for me, but it has so many of my teenage years i cant ever hate it.
I remember playing this when it came out and I used to get quite a lot of kills while ADS. Don't you guys do it today?
