  • Seasons Greetings one & all.
I acquired a number of extraordinary albums during 2023, which simply blew my mind; every time I would play them, they would give me food for thought, brought up an emotional response or both. Despite the numerous records that I already own, the albums featured in this episode occupy a special place in my collection.
The albums introduced here may not be to everyone's taste, nevertheless, for a few of you out there, these albums may resonate as strongly with you, as they have done with me. Please give them a listen.
For 2022's favourite album: • My Album Of The Year 2...
If you could choose one standout album this year that you have heard or purchased, let me know what is in the comment section.
    Albums:
Kirsten Nogues : • Kristen Noguès - Marc'...
Abdel Halim Hafez: • Abdel Halim Hafez عبد ...
Cheikh Tidiane Fall / Bobby Few / Jo Maka: • Cheikh Tidiane Fall / ...

I've played some of your recommendations at my local bar, on their patio via my Sonos Move, and it generated great conversation amongst amateur jazz fans. Hidden gems!

Abdel Halim Hafez - Egyptian singer - Legend in Egypt. This is typical old egyptian music. An other legend: Umm Kulthum. Hello, wanted to thank you, I learned to understand the world of jazz and how diverse it is. Got introduced to japanese Jazz and East Plants and then discovered Introducing Jun Fukamachi. Very grateful!

I,ve had that Diom Futa record for a while and your right it's one that's not been noticed in the vinyl community.
I just had a listen to the French folk singers record and reminds me a lot of Portuguese folklore not quite sure why it has made your best buys of 2023 apart from it being collectible. I lived in Portugal for 25yrs.
I look forward to listening to the other recommendation as like your self music from that part of the world resonates very well with me.
Me personal best buys from this 2023 year as a mostly jazz fan would be the Pharoah Sanders boxset-Pharoah, the reissue of Harold Land- The Peacemaker from 1968 which had been on my wishlist for longer than I care to remember and lastly Andy Hay- Children of the Sun 2023..
If you don't know check out Brandee Younger..
    Keep up the good work..
I take it your based in London? I am from London but not living there anymore but was down recently for a couple of concerts the Pharoah Sanders tribute as part of the London Jazz Festival and also to see The Irreversible Entanglements at the Earth Theatre best concert I have seen this year 10/10..
Where do you go digging for jazz in London nowadays?

hi. great channel. however abd el halim hafez was egyptian not lebanese. try elias rahbani, or the rahbani brothers, lebanese composers.
