    I'm a 64-year-old Canadian that moved to rural Missouri 30 years ago. (No, not hiding from the law 😉) I'm the only Canadian that most of the locals have ever met. When they find out, I can easily entertain them by breaking into cliche "Canadian speak", eh! Toss in some Newfie and they are totally confused. Canadians may be surprised by how much we are loved down here. The broken down in the snow skit is brilliant.
    "A hose, eh." "Jose, Roberto, whatever" Both borders crossed in 2 lines. Totally on point. Stereotypical Americans. That whole scene stereotypes both nations. Family Guy is just so wrong. Why I love it so much!

    I think the curling joke was more about Consuela (recurring Mexican maid character) than it was about Canada. They had Mexico win, because that suited the joke (playing La Cucaracha instead of the Mexican national anthem).

    Well bless your hearts. I grew up in what I call southern Canada (Minnesota). Where instead of "eh's" we spewed out "ya know's". Keep up the good work. Glad I came across your channel.

    The difference between a Torontonian and a New Yorker is the placement of the "eh" :

    You know how Canada got its name? They decided to throw a bunch of letters into a hat, have one guy draw out and read the letters and a secretary would right them down. He pulls out the first letter and says, "C-eh". Then he pulls out the second letter and says, "N-eh" and then pulls out the third letter and says, "D-eh".😂

    Awesome. Family Guy is the gift that keeps on giving. Been to Canada a few times. Stayed at the dorms of Loyola University in Montreal and I remember how clean the streets were compared to NYC, where I’m from.

    • @billolsen4360
      @billolsen4360 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      NYC's just so crowded vs other cities. I was grossed out by the streets there first time I visited, but it looks like as soon as the crews clean it up, 8 million people are back littering it all up again, they're packed in so tight they can't help it.

  • @snakeinthegrass7443
    @snakeinthegrass7443 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Living 2-1/2 hours south of Montreal, in upstate NY - I can attest to the club scene in that city. At least it was 25+ years ago when I had a lot of friends getting married and Montreal was the place to party. Even if someone was thinking about getting married, we'd bring him up there to make sure that's what he wanted to do. 😂 This was before 9-11 so travel was MUCH friendlier between the 2 countries. No passports or special driver's licenses required. Just a valid license. They'd ask you what's your intention in the country, and you'd just say the dummy in the back is getting married and we're going to Montreal for one night to change his mind. Most times they'd just laugh and let you pass.

    This reminds me of a favorite movie of mine. Strange Brew. The McKenzie brothers. Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis. I started using " 'ey" and "hoser" a lot, and still do, on occasion! Strip bars in Victoria and Vancouver were the shit back in the 80s and 90s. Awesome fun...and though I never went the sentiment was that Quebec (and particularly Montreal) strip bars were even a level above BC bars. In BC the scend seemed to die a slow death as the fun was choked out of them for some reason and then most closed down. But oh the memories....

    That Nudie Bar number was interesting... though perhaps not accurate.
    I've heard the bars out east are pretty permissive, but out here in the west (Alberta), it's strict (no touching, private dances require the patron to sit certain ways to prevent any "accidental" groping fondling ,etc).
    I had a short gig as a DJ in the VIP room and that was the protocol.

    What countries have a curling team?
    Participating Countries
    The list of countries includes UK, Scotland really, Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, Japan, Spain, Russia, Sweden, Norway and United States etc. The participant nations are often called as curlers. Canada is the country, where world's 90% of the curling people live.
    Who invented the game curling?
    The origin of curling traces back to 16th century Scotland, where the sport was played on frozen ponds and lochs. The first recorded match took place around 1541: a Scottish notary recorded a challenge between a monk at Paisley Abbey and a relative of the abbott.
    The granite for the stones comes from two sources: Ailsa Craig, an island off the Ayrshire coast of Scotland, and the Trefor Granite Quarry, North of the Llŷn Peninsula, Gwynedd in Wales. Wikipedia.
