    “Aboot” is the go-to for Canadian cliches, but I’ve found “sore-ry” is far more universal amongst Canadians.

    • @doodleblockwell2610
      @doodleblockwell2610 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I have always heard it more as an [A-Boat] more than [A-Boot] I have also noticed the pronunciation of "tomorrow" as a good indicator. Canadian say to-MOR-ow rather than US to-MAR-ow. Also the propensity of Canadians to say PRO rather than PRA in words like Progress. It sounds odd, but probably more correct the Canadian way.

      I have never made it to Montreal... I'm from Michigan, so I've enjoyed Canada quite a bit years ago. My Hockey buddies have told me it's on another level than Ontario Clubs....and that's saying something. I have a funny story almost 20 years ago now, me and a few guys where at a " adult club" on your side of the Soo. We meet some "Bikers" from Montreal, not going to name the Bike Club. They where having some problems with a rival from our side of the border and where worried we where part of that group... LOL, we are not small guys and are a rough crew! Once they figured out we are hockey players. They bought us some beers, and gave us some info on Montreal and where to go. Real nice guys. I told my Canadian buddy Steve who managed a bar in Sarnia years ago, he filled me in on who they were and the details.... pretty funny.

      You for sure have experienced crappy poutine. I know exactly what you mean. Only way to get real poutine is if you go to Quebec really. Thanks for the kind words RJ! - Adam

      That's like saying loaded fries are bad because they're just soggy fries. If poutine is made with good, thick gravy, it shouldn't be soggy

    Makes me like Canadians even more, if you can laugh at yourselves and not take things too seriously. A problem we're are having in certain parts of the world these days, people being offended by just about everything. I think it's healthy and is often used in affectionate ways, that let's people know we like them and I think there is a lot of love for Canada. When this pandemic is over, think I would like to see the country, and some rippers and beer wouldn't hurt either.

    Fun fact: In the original King Kong movie American actor Robert Armstrong playing American character Carl Denham says "Eh?" numerous times. I forget how many times but it's close to 20. Canadian actress Faye Wray is also in the movie. She never says "Eh?" once!
